Good to hear that Derek is back. Glad to hear that your dad is out there with you guys as well. Hope your dad's health stays to the point where he is out there as long as you guys are.
Appreciate your videos and try not to worry too much about the folks who continually give you negative feed back. We appreciate all you and the team do and very interesting in watching how you do it.
Nice to see young Derrick back, couldn't leave a comment on the video from your study but Dad is a marvellous guy, hops on anything and away he goes, doesn't say a great deal but the experience stacked away must be awesome. So if he was having problems with that service truck conditions must have been rough.
Great video. Thanks for taking the time to show how those machines operate. Your knowledge and skills are amazing. Glad Derrick's back, bet your glad to get out of the cutter
This winter has been very odd for us. We usually will have a few nights close to 10 degrees and warm up well above freezing but this winter it has been much colder a lot more days.
Freezing and thawing ground make for rough logging conditions, but you all seem to do well working around the problem. Stay safe....and thanks for the ride along. ....13
That's pretty cool how you can turn around signal or you're going I've always wondered how the guys and have your guys have been able to think what you're picking up to open your grandpa to make sure you get a full gravel that's pretty awesome
Yea we have ice right now due to rain two straight days before freeze , back to teen temp's during the day and single digits at night .. Weird winter this yr.
That's a nice skidder. I, Myself am a Tiger Cat fan. I personally think they are the best to go with, Skidder wise, and cutdown machine wise. That 635D is a beast, and so is that L830C. Don't get me wrong, I love my JD stuff now, but as far as talking about a skidder, and cut down machine. I personally think the Tiger Cat is the best to go with. Keep up the awesome footage Tim. Doing good buddy.
i have 28L's on my cable and you're right i pay no attention to little ol sticks in the skid road but boy if it gets real muddy or sandy that baby just digs down til it bottoms out, i had it up to the skid door when i was first learning and didn't know any better :D
Awesome vid sir!! 👍All this emission stuff is a blessing and a curse , it's helping to save the environment, but it is a painnnn in the arse to work on!! I used to be a diesel mechanic and it was right about the time that all the emission stuff was starting to be put on em! Nowadays you almost can't even work on em unless you got a tech puter! Haha, tech puter sounds like somethin Logger Wade'd
What is the difference between the six wheel skidders and the 4 wheel ones, besides the number of wheels? Advantages/ disadvantages for each compared to the other.
Is that tractor one of the earlier models? I know they changed some things on them that helped the longevity of the emissions components. Ours is one of the early E model tractors and we’ve had nothing but trouble for the last 6 months but we had the ECM reprogrammed and it hasn’t missed a beat since
Quick question how are y'all dealing with the electronic log situation do yall have a waiver so to speak due to not going over a certain amount of miles? I ask because I am an over the road driver and was curious
If y'all by to skidder you need to sell those big wide tires and rims to logger wade it'll make his John Deere's pull better with tigercat tires there right later on
Is all the soil around y'all heavy clay? I've been down around meadsville and they had a lot of sand clay with Pee gravel in it on the roads there. Also what's the growth time on pines around you? I went to purvis a few years back and 7 year old trees looked like 15 year trees here. Most people here are shooting for a year 15 thinning and year 30-35 clear cut. East central nc
The tires on the 630 look to have a decent amount of life left on them. Does the dealer offer some type of swap program where you can get the 35.5 tires at a cheaper rate and they'll sell the used tires off the 630 to someone. Or are you out the full price of 35.5s to upgrade. I know alot of times with a new pickup I wish I could just give the dealer back the tires that come factory on them for credit towards a set that are worth a crap. Thanks. Keep up the vids.
FPT and Cummins ended their alliance in 2008, when FPT wanted to sell their large engines in North America in competition with Cummins. www.tigercat.com/fpt-delivers-tigercats-tier-4-engine-solutions/
Hey question I love in ga and I run a 620 tiger cat I noticed y'all set the boom on the skidder all the way up, I think it pulls better when it is only half way
Think about it- the lower your boom more area of the stem of the tree is on the ground you gotta drag. The higher, the less of the tree is touching the ground and it also puts more weight on the machine. The best pulling power is all the way up and all the way forward because forward puts maximum weight on your front end.
Be nice to see a 8.3 cummins in that thing, where it makes a little more noise than a cig lighter plug in air compressor and will blow some black smoke
Thanks for the ride-along, Tim. Is the 630 foreseeably easy to cash flow for TDK? It appears from my untrained eye to be doing a good job for you. I know next to nothing about the economics of logging other than in the general sense, and I'm not trying to pry my eyes into things that don't concern me, just for the record.
It just depends on who the previous owner was and how good of care they took of the machine. I’ve seen them junk at 5k hours and still like new at 20k hours.
Anyone ever able to clean up the scuffs and scratches in Lexan glass? Quick google search shows it may be possible but tricky and with the deep scratches from logging may be impossible. Seems like if someone could perfect the process they'd might have a good side-hussle in going around clearing up the glass on heavy equipment.
I like your dad a lot Tim, he's not rough on equipment AT ALL, he takes it nice and slow, he's a good operator.
Good to hear that Derek is back. Glad to hear that your dad is out there with you guys as well. Hope your dad's health stays to the point where he is out there as long as you guys are.

I know you are glad to be off the cutter, glad Derrick is back in the woods with ya'll!
a job to where you can enjoy so much it brings laughter and peace is a personal heaven. Keep the good spirit up man, just made my dark day go away .
I enjoy watching you guys operating. Thanks Mr Cottontop.
Thanks for the videos man we appreciate the knowledge and experience y'all have, glad Derick is well enough to be back to work
Good to see Derrick back with ye again Tim , make life a little easier for everybody:)
You wouldn't think you'd have to worry about freezing so much where your at but this year has been weird. Stay warm and safe.
This winter has been very odd for us. We usually will have a few nights close to 10 degrees and warm up well above freezing but this winter it has been much colder a lot more days.
Good explanation of running wide tires. It’s all about ground pressure.
Thanks for the video always wanted to see the tiger cat in action in the cab. My first skidder ride was in a 540B cable, back in the 80's.
Great video as always. You're right about the 6.7L FPT I-6. It was designed in a joint venture with Cummins and Fiat Powertrain.

That Tigercat is one nice skidder ! Thank you for the ride along !
That's pretty cool how you can turn around signal or you're going I've always wondered how the guys and have your guys have been able to think what you're picking up to open your grandpa to make sure you get a full gravel that's pretty awesome
Great vid. Tim, Good to see Derrick back..Have a good one,Take care ..
Y’all end up with a bunch of snow and ice?
Yea we have ice right now due to rain two straight days before freeze , back to teen temp's
during the day and single digits at night .. Weird winter this yr.
That looks like a lot of enjoyment.

Great video Tim, thanks for the ride along.
i worked at a convenience store/Truck stop, and we had both DEF and Adblue

Those FPT engines are good units Tim. I'd have them over a lot of others out there as they are designed to do the hours if looked after.
Great explanation about why you need smaller tires.I didn't think about it till you explained it.How far do they haul the gravel?
Great video Tim thanks for sharing
Maybe bring the best of the JD skidders over to the logging site, the 748? and run it against the TC 630E to help you with your decision?

Can the engine on the 630 be deleted like truck engines and do away with the DEF? Thanks for the great video's.
Good vid very informal thanks buddy
So who pays for the clearing and hauling of the lumber to the lumber yard? I am buying acreage around my state.
Which one of your sticks does your steering for you and what off rate your are Tony
I guess with the wide tires versus narrow it's all about finding the balance between the weight of the machine and the width of the tire.
Thanks for the video
Quick question how are y'all dealing with the electronic log situation do yall have a waiver so to speak due to not going over a certain amount of miles? I ask because I am an over the road driver and was curious
We have four of them. Awesome when you get the DEF deleted!!
Good looking skidded!! Buy that bad bisquit😉😁😎
Another great video tim sure did enjoy it what liter engines in the 6:35
If y'all by to skidder you need to sell those big wide tires and rims to logger wade it'll make his John Deere's pull better with tigercat tires there right later on
Very cool video! I would love to take one for a spin! Lol

Our soil varies a lot and our clear cuts are in the mid 20 year old.

The new tires will be swapped with the dealer and are involved in the deal.
“Finna” lmao0 we use that in Maryland
liked the ride along
FPT is owned by Case New Holland now, used to be Iveco. Makes you wonder if Tigercat didn't like anything Cummins had to offer in the tier 4 market.

great video man!!!
I run some of the largest heavy equipment in the world in the alberta canada oilsands, i would love to jump into the seat of some logging equipment
When y'all cut the trees down how do y'all get rid of all the stumps
They rot in 2-3 years.
Hey question I love in ga and I run a 620 tiger cat I noticed y'all set the boom on the skidder all the way up, I think it pulls better when it is only half way

True but while I'm driving it it stands up a lot when I let it up all the way so how would I prevent that?
Good video thanks for sharing

Thanks for the ride along Tim, so compared to the 635 which do you like
6 wheel vs 4 wheels?
Neither
Thanks for the ride-along, Tim. Is the 630 foreseeably easy to cash flow for TDK? It appears from my untrained eye to be doing a good job for you. I know next to nothing about the economics of logging other than in the general sense, and I'm not trying to pry my eyes into things that don't concern me, just for the record.
We are needing to update a skidder.
get some 30.5 tires for it.....I run the the 30.5 tires on my 490 prentice
Yes more skidder driving videos maybe a headcam vid
Do you run duals on your skidder.
whats considered high hours on these machines ?? theres a 2011 630D for sale here but it has 17,000 hours, all synthetic oils and all original
It just depends on who the previous owner was and how good of care they took of the machine. I’ve seen them junk at 5k hours and still like new at 20k hours.
@@cotontop3 thanks for the reply, love your channel btw...
why don't you welder corks onto your tracks
As far as i know the FPT engine is a deal between Fiat and Iveco.
Does anybody know more bout that stuff?
Did John Deere copy TigerCats Deisgn or did they have permission to use the same build as TigerCat on their new skidders?
Anyone ever able to clean up the scuffs and scratches in Lexan glass? Quick google search shows it may be possible but tricky and with the deep scratches from logging may be impossible. Where y'all from
the biggest difference is one less axle
if you put that skidder on the haul road where I work you would have a new employer in the morning
Good thing he’s not our boss.
First
That was quick! Lol
Yes sir
