What a great rideout , thanks for showing , beautiful country to explore on a bike, i'd love to be able to ride there myself. Thanks again, ric, ontario canada, a fellow rider.
I live just north of Asheville, I’ve been on Winding Stairs. Funny, it looks so much steeper when I watch someone else ride the road!! We are lucky enough to live in an amazingly beautiful area!!! RUclips does take some effort, but it’s worth it when you’re able to meet other folks with similar interests!!
Oh I agree, it does take some effort, but when you start getting comments from people that enjoyed the videos that makes it worthwhile. So many great rides in our area and many more that I haven’t ridden yet. Thanks for watching
First I ever heard of ramps was from a waitress at Legends in Maggie. She was telling us her grandpa and Popcorn used to stink up the whole valley cooking ramps. When we asked what ramps were, she looked at us and said, “where you from“? lol
Oh they are definitely potent smelling, but they are so good to eat. I will do a video of a trip to the Ramp Patch the spring if anyone is interested in seeing it. Thank you watching my channel
Me and the family stayed in a BNB not far from NOE to ride the railroad a few years back. The gorge is beautiful. This ride had now been added to my must ride one day list. Thanks for sharing.
Looks like I have a new channel to subscribe to. Well done. I am next door over here in Pisgah, I live near Linville Gorge, but am closer to Wilson Creek. We got absolutely hammered by Helene. Our area is still recovering, but we are making progress. I've spent many hours down in that area, both riding and backpacking. If you park at Telico Gap and head north on the Appalachian Trail for a mile or two (straight up the mountain) there is a fire tower atop Wesser Bald. That old fire tower has hands down the best view when the clouds are inverted. Wayah is cool too, and easier to access but Wesser is jaw dropping for 360°. Rode for half a day yesterday and our leaves in the high country up by Grandfather/Roan/Mt Mitchell are falling. Gravel is slick in a few spots. That, mixed with a bunch of new gravel, landslides, mudslides and washouts has made for some pretty interesting rides. Awesome channel so far, looking forward to following along
Awesome! Thanks for watching and subscribing. I used to have one family in the Linville North Cove area. Holtzclaw was their last name I think. I’m really looking forward to riding in your area some, especially old NC 105. If you’re this way give me a shout
Nice job with the video of Winding Stairs. Appreciate your efforts to video places like this. I am from this area, but live in Virginia now near Damascus. Watching your videos brings me back home so to speak. Ride safe and keep the videos around Bryson coming. Thanks again
I appreciate the effort you put into these videos, they’re very well done. I live about 150 miles from those awesome dirt roads and I gotta 1250 GS itching to explore. I will ride that area soon.
I love these videos! I've lived in Macon County all my life and now learning about a lot of new roads to enjoy thanks to these awesome videos. Thank you so much.
Just ran across your channel. I’m 4 hours east of you and have been wanting to get out that way more. Thanks for sharing the road names so I know what to look for. Maybe I’ll see you out there.
Several great gravel roads in that area, look at some of my earlier videos to see them. Definitely going to spend some more time riding in Nantahala. Thanks for watching
A couple years ago i came up telico gap , then went to ride winding stairs .... But it was gated ☹️ man , looks like I missed a good one ...... Maybe next summer 🤔 THANKS , SMW !!! (PS - may have been more like a few years ago )
I can relate to your ride and riding. I have ridden that in a jeep and would love to do it on my XT. At 84 I now pick and choose my trails but still manage to ride in North Ga. North Carolina and East Tennessee. Don't let the old man in.
Enjoyed your video. I definitely what to check out Winding Stairs Rd. I planned a trip this week, but it looks like Winding Stairs Rd is closed from 11/7/24 to 11/19/24 for repairs. Guess I'll have to explore some other roads in the area.
There are lots more roads in the near vicinity of Winding Stairs. Rainbow Springs, old River Road, Wayah Bald Lookout Tower. I’m going to be close to that area tomorrow myself
@@2hotscottpro I was able to ride Winding Stairs Rd yesterday. I decided to check it out and the gates were open, so I got lucky. It was a fun ride. Lots of beautiful views.
Greetings from Haywood Co. found your channel today and am enjoying it.hauled my Honda 450L out there a few years back to ride Winding Stairs. It was closed at that time. Nice ride looks like. Will have to try again in the Spring. You are doing a good job on your videos. Keep em coming.😎

Hey, I rode this last year on my Honda CB300R. I screamed the whole way ... and LOVED it. I've been wanting to ride it again on my Versys 650. Thanks for sharing this video. I think I'm going to try it before the rain comes this weekend. Have you done any of Fires Creek yet? I rode it as far as the horse camp.
I really enjoy riding along with you. What tires are on your BMW and this area is all up around Cherokee? I live on the coast of North Carolina and need to plan a trip up in the mountains with my KTM 390 Adventure. Need to figure a backroad route from the coast to the mountains though.
Thanks for watching, and I am running Motoz Tractionators on my bike. The do awesome on gravel and dirt. Most of what I have ridden is within a 50 mile radius of Cherokee, with the exception of Horse Pasture road
Hello. I enjoyed your video and I want to ride Winding Stairs Road. It looked like you ended up on the Gorge road but I wondered where you began. Was it off Wayah?
I actually turned off of Hwy 74 right after the Gorge and it came out on Wayah. The turn off for Winding Stairs is about 3/4 of a mile after the first rest area
What a great rideout , thanks for showing , beautiful country to explore on a bike, i'd love to be able to ride there myself. Thanks again, ric, ontario canada, a fellow rider.

You could always ride in the opposite direction of what I did and it would be mostly downhill. Thanks for watching
I too have had issues with a lot of roads closed around my area as well….
