- Braxxis holdout can be a challenging map and is one of the maps that snowballs more than other maps. In this guide I explain how to avoid this snowball and draft a winning team.

To everyone commenting on the "level of play" in this video. This was not any form of ranked game. It was a game he did with viewers and members of his community. I am sure they all have varying skill levels. Keep in mind this is a map guide which Paradox did a great job of explaining the map mechanics and tactics. The level of play did not prevent him from producing a quality video that does exactly as advertised: providing a guide and tips for the particular map. In fact, even some of the mistakes allowed him to make further points he may not have mentioned otherwise.
NotParadox my apologies for assuming it wasn't ranked. I thought it might have been UR for some reason. Either way seems ya can't make everyone happy all the time as they say
Appologies for calling you out, but AS Daust in the video, i can assure you we were not playing ranked. My friend Carbyne does not like to think or play hots competitively, thus Ingrid and I dont typically take him into TL. Im fairly certain this is Unranked. I also know i was party leader on this one, i was fumbling because im too air headed to be a party leader and didnt know what to do with the 10 people in the voice channel.
Yeah sorry this video was scheduled out I thought this was one of the ones I played with another team. It wasn't ranked it's cool. Same info still applies.
I don't know how many times I've done this map and I have never seen the Zerg staging area...
Thanks for playing with us! It was great to receive some insight and info during our casual gaming session.
"Hey, you know what, I got it for waveclear."
:^)
Someone posted your channel on reddit, glad I saw it. This is a really good video, also the first one I've watched, keep up the good work
Love these map guides! Keep em coming!
Braxxis holdout is pretty much hell for any quick match player.
Markuss Novickis only for vikings ;-;
Markuss Novickis blackhearts warhead haunted mines are terrible too
My question is, if you're on Blue, why wouldn't you send your solo bot and 4 man top. Force them to either swap, giving you the advantage with your solo laner, or fight you in a push war. Why is it automatic that everyone sends their solo top, even when the camps are disadvantageous for them?
Tyler Lucas It's status quo in a way, community "agrees" on it.
Also, if you send your 4 man top, you must push faster (Zarya and Anub'arak help a lot) and your solo laner must. E resilient, like Medivh.
Not saying it doesn't happen, you can clearly see it in HGC
Usually pro teams stay in mid and reach the lane when the minions start dying so even when they enemies swap its still ok . Also sometimes teams pick a tank and zarya and something with high dps to melt down the top turret on the top lane
Pro Genji alert :^)
You say it's uneven but there's no rule that says that top has to be 1v1 and bottom has to be 4v4. Why not bottom 1v1 and top 4v4?
14:34 why you should use alt+q on deckard
Came for the map strat stayed foe the Genji deps!
Awesome video, very informative as always!
I usually just pick stiches on this map, slam build has good waveclear for zergs and the perfect hook can win any fight at any stage of the game.
so it is only a matter of time before I get a lucky shot haha
Braxxis Holdout... The map you role every hero league game til you'd rather play Blackheart's bay
...and we HATE Blackheart's Bay!
The only two maps on which I can never decide what is the correct decision.
I'll take either over warhead junction
Yrel Light of Hope except I would never want Blackheart’s Bay, unless it means I am not playing Tomb of the Spider Queen, that place... man it hard.
As Genji you should reflect on the targeted aa dmg the boss does, not the channel aoe, does more dmg to the boss. You probably know this but you didn't do this in the game.
Can we get a video for sky temple, that is the most confusing map that is in rotation. When to fight, when to trade. When to camp. I just don’t get it.
What level of play was that? Cause it looked like one of my QM
It was QM or UR because the players on Paradox's team are members of his community.
thank you I needed this I have like a 30% win rate on this map
Would u say that E build is good on Rag on this map?
God I hate this map. I feel the objective charges too quickly and doesn't go into a 'Contested' phase where it should.
For example, there's times where the enemy has both pads, you win the fight, you get on the pad and still can't prevent the charge from completing before it changes over to your side and lose the objective.
Why?
That is a really bad Deckard though. I barely see him throwing any potions.
You should do a video about pulling aggro. Most players don't know how to do it, and it's really simple, as minions, mercenaries and bosses will always attack the closest Hero. But I've seen some tanks really struggling to pull aggro or not care about it at all.
El Rocky Raccoon he was throwing them directly on the heroes making it hard to see
This helps a lot. Thanks!
Dva is insane on this map... you can almost 1 shot the obj... and fast rotaions with the lvl 1. rag and Dva are insane at killing the wave. so you dont worry when you lose a wave
Where does KT and Jaina rank in professional play?
Jaina +1
KT 0
I hope everyone is aware that you are supposed to deflect boss autos not his aoe cast!
Broodlords...also know as "Hive masters" lol XD
they are guardians from bw, not broodlords
They're not Broodlords. Broodlords are the ones that fling Broodlings to siege the enemy lines.
The flying units on this map are called "Guardians".
On that note, I may as well list all the names of the Zerg units Braxxis utilizes:
Small, fast melee unit: Zergling
Green, rolling, exploding unit: Baneling
Medium, ranged ground unit: Hydralisk (Same as Zagara's, though hers is a "Hunter Killer" which is an "elite" version of the Hydralisk)
Large, cleaving ground unit: Ultralisk
Large, long-range flying unit: Guardian
Those are guardians from starcraft one not broodlords you are even worse . They have guardians on this map because the terran planet of braxxis was a terran research facility
Deckard has so many good builds... Rainbow build is not one of them.
Isn’t this map horizontally mirrored? Neither side have an advantage over the other, map design wise.
I feel like you are plat ???
All these mistakes are in my games as well so i guess it's same mmr.
18:53 diablo charging alone, no one is in rang to follow + no stun, instead of bodyblocking Morales, he is helping het ot get back to safety, pops apoc just before dying 100 sec cd for a 50 sec respawn timer. Genji running away from healer which leads to a death after the dot end. Kt spamming his verdant sphere on flamestrike because he doesn't know it only increases the radius. Morales never autoattacking and only walks while healing.
And I talk just of this fight xD
Yeah I'm plat as well and stuck in here :'(
Just for fun : 20:00 Genji diving with dblade on, while ennemy team has all ccs available and full health, + splitted up cause lava.
probably not knowing autoattacking is more damage on single target than dblading.
But yeah mate I guess one day we will get out of plat by having normal mates xD
I think I know a way of making Braxxis Holdout less snowbally. Make the zerg waves slowly grow over time or make it so that when one team has the emitters the other team's zerg grow but at a much slower rate than if they had the emitters.
Thanks for the guide! It gave me a couple new things to think about. However, I think maybe you tried to cram a little too much into one video. Going into so much detail on the very basics of the map while also getting pretty deep into advanced map strategies is making a large part of your video irrelevant for whichever audience happens to be watching.
Just made a map guide and blizzard changes the maps lol
Raynor would've won 1v1 if both him and Rag were GM or M
10:50 100 % every of my games
That genji sucks
Oh it's you. LMFAO
Wow... That Diablo is pretty bad :/ kinda hard to watch this..
"If you can do this really well; if you're coordinated really well...". Umm, you're strategy just lost usefulness to at least 95% of the player base there.
WTF
Seems to be a low level game on the replay honestly. Commentary is pretty good as usual but amateurish plays and stupid decisions make it hard to enjoy.
i hate this map
Please look up the meaning of "utilize." As you talk frequently about psychology, I hold you to a higher standard of communication than a typical RUclipsr. It's so cringey to hear you misuse that word so much.
damn i'm too lazy to rewatch and listen for it. I'm curious about what you are referencing now
He says utilize when he means use. Utilize is when you use something for an unintended purpose. You use a hammer to drive nails, but you might utilize a shovel to drive a nail in a pinch.
Marty Jean I looked it up myself. Although that's one definition Oxford and Merriam Webster basically just say "to make use of". Some of the definitions are even looser. Utilize is also an accepted synonym for the word use. Perhaps you should have looked it up.
@@nuggitz4011 XD
This looks like a very low league game, like silver or bronze. Please keep with the analysis of pro-games.
This wasn't hero or team league. Just a QM or UR game with viewers and members of the community
Silver or bronze ?? Damn it's the same in my plat games sadly
Effect Phoenix you'd be surprised how much stupid shit happens even in master and gm
Ahah I know, most of my friends are masters so I saw some pretty funny things, but less about drafting or shit builds tho :P
worst genji ever xd
