*HUGE* Seattle FD Response: 5 tillers, brand new chief and more!

- On October 7th, 2019, I filmed a large number of Seattle Fire units headed to a 3-alarm fire in downtown Ballard. The fire destroyed 5 businesses, and one firefighter suffered a minor injury.
The units I caught included two of the brand new Battalion Chief vehicles (B4 & B2), 5 tiller trucks and the newer SUVs used by the Safety, Deputy and ICS chiefs. Sorry about the wind noise.
Kiro posted a long helicopter video on their facebook page, which shows roof operations before the roof was evacuated and collapsed:

*UPDATE NEW YEAR’S EVE: The black SUV seen in this video is the Seattle Fire Department Fire Investigator. The Fire Investigator is responsible for determining the source and cause of a fire whenever a fire breaks out. If a fire is ruled suspicious, the Fire Investigator (Fire Marshal where I’m from) will seek to find evidence supporting the arson theory. Arson can range from Molotovs thrown in open windows to papers thrown on the floor or in a trash can to light a fire. If no evidence is found, the arson theory will be abandoned, as will the suspicious ruling, thus resulting in the Fire Investigator (Fire Marshal where I’m from) changing the ruling to either accidental, electrical, or undetermined depending upon how badly burned a room is.
That unknown black/grey SUV is our Fire Investigation Unit. Typically a two person crew responsible for determining the cause and estimated cost of damages.
Also, if you have any questions about an incident as it’s happening, you can send us a tweet @SeattleFire
@@DCuerpoJr Awesome, thanks for the info!!
1:20 Mercedes LF8 in Seattle OMG
I posted a short video with more info about the unit here: ruclips.net/video/Ej3bo74xr_g/видео.html
lol
I was just about to comment on that! That is quite a coincidence!
Congrats on 1 million views btw love the channel and can't wait for more videos!
Thank you!!
4:00 2 SIRENS AT ONCE AND BLASTING AIRHORN!!!!
Awesome action packed video Lucas!! Defiantly got a lot of good responses here with all the amazing Horn usage, the 5 tillers, and new Chief vehicles! It sucks that work had to drag you in but what dan you do, money can’t grow on trees even though it be nice lol 😂, none the less this an amazing video well put together my man! Keep up the good work!
Thanks, I appreciate it!!
didint think you would be here
Wow so many nice tillers and units! Sweet video Lucas
Thank you!!
@CobraEmergencyVideos - North America look at timestamp 1:18 for a sweet ex european surprise!
@@TheGraduateApple That's so awesome and unexpected!
Gotta be straight with you here Lucas, this is one of the best videos I’ve ever seen. My heart is filled with love after watching this lol
Thank you Chase! :-D
Nothing better seeing than the U.S. flag on an apparatus heading to a job!!
I'm spanish and i'm agree with you
Awesome catches Lucas!!
Thanks Jake!
Do you have actual footage of the fire ?
My favorite rig is the Crown Fire Coach. Engine 51 in "Emergency"
Amazing response, SFD is amazing!
Thanks! I agree, SFD is awesome!
Awesome video Lucas!
Thank you!
Nothing more to say, except absolutely epic catches! That certainly satisfied my tiller hunger for the week haha
1:15 wow, a Mercedes TN! Wonder if that thing really was an European fire apparatus at some point?
I thought I was the only one that saw it.
It does look like it, but I can't be sure. Only if there was a close up.
Thank you! I feel like I've seen the Mercedes around before, but I'm not sure what its story is. I'll try to get some better pics or vid if I see it again.
I was waiting for this. I was down there most of the afternoon.
I meant to get it up sooner, but my health tanked again this week. Did you get any pics/video from the scene?
How long did it take to capture the responding units?
I was out there for roughly 45-60 minutes.
Amazing catch lucas!
Thanks Sam!
Love their Pierce rigs, especially the tillers with the dual axles.
They are beautiful, I agree!
I live about 30 miles North of their factory. Love to see what they are building as I drive by.
Amazing footage!
Thank you!
Great catches!
Thank you!
Awesome vid man.
Thank you Zach!
Great catch
Thanks for watching!
awesome video man! don't they use the q siren? :D
Thanks! Some of them do (electronic q anyway)....
@@lucaslaughing oh ok! in chicago there's is a prop!XD
A bit different to when I was in Seattle in 1986, Kenworth engine and truck companies with a few Mack's thrown in for good measure.
Wow, yeah, definitely a different mix of rigs compared to today!
Left a "Like" here already for the nice face greeting all watchers at the beginning of the video :D At 1:16, there's another fire truck I bet you didn't reconize. The red Mercedes Benz pulling over to let L4 and B2 pass through is an old german fire truck, just without the blue lights, they've probably been dismounted before selling to the new owner. I reconize the model from Germany (I live there).
Fantastic video at all points :D Sorry if my English should be bad, how I said I'm german :D
You're very kind (and your English is great)! I actually managed to track down the former German fire unit, and posted a short video about it here: ruclips.net/video/Ej3bo74xr_g/видео.html
@@lucaslaughing Ok, now you've got my subscription :D
@@dagebhardt Much appreciated - subbed back!
Great video! Nice to see an old European Merc fire truck pull over to let the second tiller through
Thanks! I managed to track down the German truck and did a short video about it here: ruclips.net/video/Ej3bo74xr_g/видео.html
Hey Lucas, any plans for Lego videos or somewhere we can check out your builds? Lego and emergency vehicles are my hobby too so would like to see what you build.
I unfortunately haven't been able to build much this year, but I'm hoping to get back into it over the summer. I'll probably be moving in a few months, so once I get my new LEGO room up and running I'll have to do a tour video.
4:30 "Unknown emergency unit, possibly USCG."
Nope. Coast Guard vehicles would have US Government license plates; that one has a Washington State "Exempt" plate with a "D" (city) number. That's probably a Seattle PD unit.
Yeah, I updated the description but unfortunately there's no way to change the video text. It ended up being the SFD fire investigator.
Fantastic footage! I hope that wind didn't cause too much of an issue for them.
Thanks! I think the wind definitely fueled the fire, but they were able to keep it contained to a single building.
@@lucaslaughing That's good to hear!
If one units gonna go far out with the sirens, its definitely Ladder 9.
The "unknown" unit I believe was SPD arson/bomb. I spotted them down at the fire scene next to the B2 buggy at the height the fire.
That unit is the Fire Marshall Mar5
I think they one dark grey Tahoe unit was a FIU (Fire Investigation(s) Unit); cuz I do know that tend to roll in unmarked SUVs
At first i was like where are all the engines!
Lucas, if Engine 2 was among the responding rigs, their quarters houses Engine 2, Ladder 4, Aid 2, and Aid 4. Aid 4 is part-time staffed while the rest of the apparatus are full-time staffed.
I saw ladder 4 in the video
@@andrewlorentz9076 Here's what you don't know, Andrew. Ladder 4, Engine 2, Aid 2, and Aid 4 are all housed together. Ladder 4, Engine 2, and Aid 2 are full-time staffed while Aid 4 is part-time staffed.
@@EmergencyGuy you literally just said the exact same thing!
@@EmergencyGuy also how do you know that I don't know that? You say that as if I've never been to Seattle before!
@@andrewlorentz9076 I may never have been to Seattle, but I got the info from a previous video I watched. The info is in the description. Aid 4 rarely responds due to being part-time staffed.
The Coast Guard doesn’t respond on fires in the city. What you saw was an unmarked Seattle PD unit, Lucas.
It actually turned out to be the SFD Fire Investigator - I updated the info in the comments.
@@lucaslaughing Just to correct you, Lucas, the updated info is NOT in the comments, but in the description. It’s your mistake by saying the updated info’s in the comments.
Even Truck 10 from Cap Hill was there? Dang.
Yeah, that's one of the "fun" things about multi-alarm responses, is you get to see units from all over the city.
That MB Van at around 1:16 looks like an older German fire support vehicle...
Unknown is possibly a USCG unit? Wtf?! You’re kidding right? Was it a Coast Guard facility on fire? A dock? Boats exposed to a dock? I’m confused why you would think it’s them....
I spotted that same unit at a ship fire a year or two ago, and one of my viewers said it was a USCG unit (I now know they were mistaken). Also, this fire was close to the ship canal, and the Coast Guard does respond to leaks/spills, so I thought they might have been there to monitor the runoff from the fire fighting efforts.
Very late but.. Its crazy how many horn variants seattle fire has
Yeah, they do have a great variety. Thanks for watching!
1:15, is that a retired mercedes export fire truck?
It is! I tracked it down and did a video about it here: ruclips.net/video/Ej3bo74xr_g/видео.html
Must have been one big high rise fire to have that many ladders
Not a highrise, but a large area of burning roof, so they used multiple ladder streams.
I think something like 2/3s of the entire seattle fire department responded to this fire.
Yeah, I think I read that too ... amazing!
4:40 Arson Unit FIU 5
Huh, that would make sense. Thanks! Do you know where they're based out of?
@@lucaslaughing FIU at the HQ
At 1:19 you can see an older discarded fire engine from German-speaking countries. It is a small fire truck. I guess it's an LF 8/6 or something like that. The pump in the rear shaft 800l / min at 8 bar. Another portable pump has the same values. The water tank holds at least 600l.
Yep, it was from Germany; I managed to track it down and did a short video about it here: ruclips.net/video/Ej3bo74xr_g/видео.html
@@lucaslaughing Thank you very much. I watched the video. 2x thumbs up. Greetings daniel
No tiller drifts :(
No, not this time :-(
Do you accept submissions /videos of traffic infractions? I have one of red light runners in WS at a notoriously bad intersection. Never seen a cop there in 15 years despite reports from citizens.
I don't, just because youtube is so quick to demonetize channels for any perceived "reused content." Are you not posting videos on your channel anymore?
I have a new one I could give you and I would delete it from my phone/never post it on my channel. I was posting things but I never got any views so I put them on private.
1:18 thats an ex feuerwehr unit in the US :0
Noticed that too.
I NOTICED THAT TOO. A EUROPEAN FIRE TRUCK IN NORTH AMERICA.
Im planning to catch maitlands mobile command in station with the rehab
lets play spot the rookie.
can you find the rookie firefighter driver in this video?
I just started the video but in guessing whichever one plays with the siren
@@Taconephotography wait a little longer, you will see them.
@@teacher555555, I cant figure out who it is? Who is it
@@Taconephotography did you watch the entire video? around the 3:40 mark.
they were the only one responding to this call without lights and siren. and their truck is one of the most important ones as it was a portable air compressor to refill the bottles.
@@teacher555555 oof
1:20 HOLY SHIT ITS AN 86
Good eye - I was actually able to track that unit down and get a little more info about it: ruclips.net/video/Ej3bo74xr_g/видео.html (Sorry for the late reply!)
Great video. Feel your pain though, nothing worse than a large going fire and you need to be at work.
Lol, right? Thanks for watching!
You guys have Q2Bs on your equipment use them they work a heck of a lot better then the fake one.
16 looks like a used EURO rig
Lol, it kind of does. I think it's a spare rig, possibly a 2003 American LaFrance Metropolitan 134. Thanks for watching!
