I have the same issue with bowing of the front entrace awning but if you stake the front with guy ropes you can stretch the awning so rain won’t collect in the bow. I am going to try it out this spring.
dude your video is amazing. I already bought the tent, but I am having a hard time screwing the nuts on the bolts. Other than that, can't wait. Thank you for the video
Thank you. Are you having a hard time fitting your hands under your roof rack or roof bard to thread the bits onto the bolts I had the same problem when I switched the tent over to my suv
Good informative video. I purchased the same tent on July 16th '19 from Amazon knowing it was backordered (1-2 months). I will be installing on a Haul-Master 4x8 trailer from Harbor Freight. Look forward to seeing future videos!
To prevent you from having to carry around an additional ladder for when you go camping, I would suggest buying or making a tire step up that you can easily mount on and off your tire. Just an idea. Nice video and looking to purchase one in the near future!
Thanks for the upload. Not many videos of this tent on here. I just bought the XL and Annex for myself and my family. Haven't gone out to try it yet but will soon. The audio is really low on some talking parts, so maybe get a mic closer to your neck? idk
Weezing818 agreed thank you but right now I all I have is a old go pro hero 3 and unfortunately no wireless external mik for this camera :( in the future I will definitely be getting something better thanks for the comment have a great day :)
two things your rain fly is upside down. if you flip it over the fly will cover those poles and stay tighter. also the 4 long straps go on the outside of the travel cover
I’m building at trailer for the RTT, since you have a tent and a rack what height would you recommend for the bottom of the tent with the annex in mind for my sent up. My truck is on a 9 inch lift and the top sits about 7 foot 2 inch. I don’t want to go above that with the bottom. Thanks
Thank you :) I have camped in heavy rain before and the tent does seep water through the side walls so if you touch the inside walls while sleeping you will get wet. Also another downfall is when it’s raining heavy and you go to pack up the tent is soaking wet and gets put away wet so when you fold it up the mattress and everything inside gets wet as well. Then you need to open it up when you get home after it stops raining so it dries
@@blackwidowe3497 thanks for the answer... You didn't tell me if you tried it in a very cold weather. Is it warm inside? And finally are you happy with your choice?
It gets very cold inside you have to have lots of blankets and possibly a heater but a given with most tents I am happy with the purchase my only complaint is the mattress is to thin and uncomfy have to get a memory foam to lay over top and it is all good
@@blackwidowe3497 thanks, that is all I need to know. Mine is a shortbed Ford 6.8 foot I believe, this tent should fit ok as long as I keep it close to the cab.
Any issues with the crease portion of the tent dipping under pressure? I unfolded the tent and when I went to get in, the crease portion began to sink.. Any reason why??
Yes still on there racks are great I bring a quad with me now so the stand and the tent gets lifted to the very top and the quad can go right underneath. I would buy them again if I could go back
My man! finally a review from a bigger guy! i am also a bigger guy looking at this tent. how do you like it? being a bigger guy with the weight ? does it feel like its going to fall down ? how stable is it?
Hey no issues at all at the time I was around 290lbs and had no issues or concerns I’m now 189lbs and it still feels the same getting in and out of it nice and stable I wouldn’t have any worries
though I am looking at one of these for my JEEP ;) I do also have a big truck so I appreciate the video! imagine you don't bring the ladder on trips though ?
Haha yes the ladder comes with only so I don’t have to climb on the side of the truck can defenitly use this set up without the ladder tho lol since this video passed one big thing about this tent is the mattress in it it’s super thin you can always get some foam made to put over top of it so that’s one thing to think about when shopping. Thanks for the comment :) and good luck !
cut lengths of fiberglass rod say 5mm in diam, and cap the ends with vacuum line caps to protect the ends. cut them to length and make a square frame for the bottom of the entry that you can attach thin cords and secure them to your wheel well. water collecting awing problem solved
@@blackwidowe3497 I'm considering building my own rooftop tent. I see the construction, and how its made so it shouldnt be too difficult to make your own.
Remember to subscribe :)!
Thanks for showing actual set up and not some slick marketing bs.
No problem thanks for watching and the nice comment :) have a great day Julian
nice upload very informative as i am also thinking abut getting one for my ram tired of seeing videos of them only on jeeps so this was nice

Good idea I’m gona try that next time camping because I’m constantly dumping the pool of water that collects lol !

thank you ! mine also took a few months to come in but was defenitly worth it and beats sleeping on the ground !

It all depends on how high you want to climb into it I would make it around 3 or 4 feet up so you could also store more stuff underneath :)!
Are 2 crossbar enough? Smitty built says 3 on xl tent
Yes two are fine 0 problems running two bars on my pathfinder now with the same tent with 0 issues as well

Move the flap slide in the pole and play with it. Got it. Thx.
Does the overhanging half of the floor deflect at all from the weight when you climb in? I’m 6’3 190Lbs and am worried it might sag down.
No it doesn’t the ladder supports it so it does not sag I was 260 in the video and never had any issues with sagging:)
Good I would like to know the price for the tent, thank you
1600$ Canadian
Shortbed truck? How long is the bed?
Shortened 6ft I think can’t remember will have to check

No I never had any problem like that before !
There are locks on the hinges
Nice vid
Just bought 1 today
Mattress pad on order
Awesome congrats where did you get your mattress pad from still trying to find one for myself
Helpful video. Did the LED lights come with the tent or you added them yourself?
Thank you the led came with the tent it has a USB connection so you need to buy a battery pack for it to plug into
Awesome, thank you. Good to know
You still have and using your RTT and a Thule bed rack? If so is the bed rack bending? Are those racks strong enough?
Yes still on there racks are great I bring a quad with me now so the stand and the tent gets lifted to the very top and the quad can go right underneath. I would buy them again if I could go back
Thanks for letting me know. I was deciding on your setup and now I’m convinced in getting this Smittybilt RTT and Thule Bed Rack.
merci! thats a good review
Thank you :)
What is your truck bed size?
Short box 6ft I believe
