QUESTION: Can you delete the PCV valve on the 2019 Kia Rio 1.6L and opt for a filter? The reason I am asking is that I had to replace the pcv valve just about every oil change. The cat has 208,000 miles and runs fine, It smokes like a train as soon as the pcv valve gets gummed up. and quits working or quits working as it should.

I believe so. I'm having the same problem and all my research has lead me here. Car is bone dry on oil after 2,500 miles. Bad mpg and rough idle.
No blue smoke or leaks in my driveway either
@@TheSchuchternCook I'm having the same issues, 2014 Kia Rio lx. Oil runs low after 1500 miles.
Replaced pcv valve and no help:/ No smile or loss of power either. But my spark plugs did have ashy deposits, which points me that the car is burning some oil. Trying to figure out how to help I tor fix it. I have good compression across the engine. Any help is appreciated.
@@angeljames5937 I'm still at square one myself tbh. Changed the pcv valve and still having problems. Ran the expensive high octane gas thru my car and it started to run alottttt better but still same oil problem. I've given up and just keep adding oil at this point.
@@TheSchuchternCook what year car and engine size? Pull the plugs and see if you have ashy deposits. Im suspecting carbon build up might be the cause for mine. Im hoping the oil control rings aren't at fault. But I have read about running some chem b12 cleaner through the spark plug holes, letting it sit a few days. Then draining it out of the cylinders, and proceed to do an oil change immediately after that.
