Thanks, man. You saved me $110 an hour by not having to go to the dealership to have this done. I just finished re-keying my 2008 Chevrolet Colorado with the help of this video. 4/11/2018 @ 1:30 A.M.

    Thank you!
This helped me re-key a cylinder on my bike rack, I got lucky and just had two swap two wafers around to make the lock work with the key I had

Thank you for posting this!!! My 2004 express recently had all the locks punched out by thieves. Cost me about $60 for all the locks and handles from our local bone yard. Re-keyed the locks myself and I'm back in business. Saved me a bunch of $$$. Only difference was my locks had seven pins instead of five, but exact same design. Great Vid!!

I notice that when I unlock my doors, the key works so extremely easy that I often wonder if it was even actually locked, I wonder if I had forgotten to lock it.
Is that a sign of being worn out
Does that mean it would be really easy to pick ?
Really Great Vid here. Many thanks

Where can I get new, correct wafers? Which ones do I need? Looking at different websites, they show multiple GM wafer repinning kits.
I replaced the ignition cylinder in my 2nd gen Blazer and need to rekey my door locks to match. Thanks.
Or would it be easier to repin the new ignition cylinder with the wafers from the original? That's how we used to do the Buick Centuries & Pontiac Grand Am/Grand Prix when I worked at the dealership a few years ago. I did so many of those I lost count because they had issues with the lock cylinders breaking a wire and setting the security light.

If I don’t have all the correct tumblers can I leave some out and still get by? I know it wont be as secure but I lost the key and will be shaving the doors eventually

Yes you can leave some out if you're in a bind. As you mentioned, it won't be as secure but it will still work.

why not grind the tumblers down

Because your door lock wouldn't be useful. You could unlock it with anything that would turn the cylinder at that point. This video is intended to show you how to re-key it so that the lock still requires the proper key in order to function.
