On to Cobra Kai!
Thank you all for the support!
YASSSSS I PROMISE U IT'S SUCH AN INCREDIBLE SHOW💫💫👏🏽👏🏽
Cobra Kai can't wait!!!
I bailed out on Cobra Kai after 2 seasons. It got cringy watching kids trying to kill other kids. I will get back into it with you guys, you always have great and intelligent reactions
Cobra kai really surprised me on the quality and how good it is. The first 2 - 3 seasons are great after that it loses heart in my opinion
I want you to Remember this Daniel, The Actor, Is Older, Than Terry Silver. He Is Older. Your brain may now malfunction.
I saw this in the movie theater back in 89 and when Miyagi threw Barnes through the door, the whole theater cheered. It was an awesome sight.
cool. I saw this on HBO in the early 90s (91-92) as a kid. It was on all the time.
yep
@@MGillDesign yepp, I remember Karate Kid part 3 was on HBO about 5 times a week from 1990 to 1993 ~
Cool. Miyagi only took one hit in his many fights!
I saw this on release too. I remember people laughing when Miyagi did the "waaaah" sound after the fight.
Terry Silver really makes the movie, and saves it from being a more generic sequel. He really chews the scenery, and is definitely one of the best villains ever put to the screen.
I'm not sure if he ranks as one of the best movie villains ever. He's a bit too cartoony. It seems to me that he's definitely a Fun villain because he's so over the top. It fits this entry of the franchise. Just a thought. haha
I think Cobra Kai has added to Terry Silver's
uniqueness of being a villain.
this is what i was just kinda saying... Barnes didn't sell for me but Silver worked.
@@LA_HA if you count him on cobra kai too he becomes like he says PERFECT.S5 is sett8ng him up to be this show's thanos. In kk3 he had so many good qualities in a villain. He is rich fashionable charming manupilative handsome strong evil maniacal but has big flaws which was his downfall.Cobra kai adds him even layers. In s5 he will be a perfect mix of kk3 terry and s4 terry cause each of his 2 forms lacked the other 1 but now he will be unstoppable. Now i feel like it is a thanos type sitouation. He is the ultimate bad guy and everyone will slowly work together to fight him.So in all honesty i believe he might end up becoming 1 of the best written villain in all fiction.
@@poutsamouni5483 I'd be lying if I said I'm not looking forward to next season. And, if he gets the growth that the other characters have received so far, he will definitely an excellent villain
It was such a strange and absurd plot.
‘A millionaire stops production in his company to terrorize an old man and a teenage boy and plots to open up a chain of Dojos’
@Yo Momma And a coke problem
That's what I like about Cobra Kai; right off the top Silver talks about how crazy it was and how he was hopped up on coke.
*Interesting note: originally the friendship between Daniel and Jessica was written as a love interest, but when it was discovered Robyn Lively (Jessica) was only 16 at the time of production, it was rewritten to be purely a friendship. Lively was only 16, while Ralph Macchio (Daniel) was 27.*
Thomas (Terry Silver) was 26
It blows my mind that Ralph Macchio was 27. He looks younger than she does.
They should have used Ralph’s real wife. Maybe she would have been a better actress than Robyn Lively.
She was in the Teen Witch movie. It wasn’t a very good movie. Very cheesy.
@@KCohere33 *He was 22 when they made the original* 😮

@@Ninjersey1 Cobra Kai characters definitely think that it's crazy.
Yes!🤣 That guy’s great
They originally wanted John Kreese as the villain, but Martin Kove was tied up on another TV show and only available for a few scenes so they created the Terry Silver character to fill in.
@@williamshelton4318 Nowadays they wouldn't even need that.
"Hey, let's create a villain. How about a rich guy? They're always evil, right?"
Yes, and i think that was a mistake. They should await Kove to finish filming that Tv show and make it all about Kreese revenge.
And what a beautiful thing that turned out to be!
Terry Silver is an iconic over the top character lmao I love him

Even though everyone keeps saying it's the worst movie of the trilogy, for some reason, it's always been my favorite. Especially because of the soundtrack. Thank you very much for completing the trilogy and not having us wait for months before you do so either like other reactors.
It's by far the worst movie. But the motif for Terry Silver is terrific. It was so good in fact that I thought it was piece of classical music they used for the film.
Hi Ricky. I love this film. Sure, Silver's over the top. Just made me hate him that much more, leading up to "party time."
I read the novelization as a kid (before watching any of the movies except for The Next Karate kid) but I don't think I have actually ever watched it.
Terry Silver and Mike Barnes made this movie good for me. The role they play as villains I always loved
@@marrychrismas306 yeah comparing kk3 to kk4 makes kk3 a great movie 😂
Fun fact: Pat Morita spoke perfect English irl, was a stand up comedian during the 1960s and actually had a 50s "greaser" accent. He was born in California, but faked a Japanese accent (likely imitating his parents) for tv and cinematic roles.
The first two are definitely the best but I think this one is also worth watching. Not only to get prepared for Cobra Kai but because Terry Silver is such a fascinating villain. Not only coocoo bananas but super rich, like some kind of Bond villain.
Silver was the best thing about the movie. The writers shafted Miyagi hard. He no longer had his usual comforting presence. In fact, he was kinda annoying. He wasn't solving any problems, he was just ignoring them until he randomly decided not to, despite nothing really changing. Like...what was his plan? To keep doing nothing as his business was destroyed and his stock was stolen over and over again, and his business partner and close friend was constantly being beaten and put in life threatening situations.
The actor that plays Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith) is in fact younger than Ralph Macchio. Strange as he’s supposed to be Creese’s Vietnam War buddy
OMG, that is Crazy! 😂
Yea 4 months apart
He's only younger by 5 months
@@Grandmaster_Sub-Zero So? He's younger It's funny when they are trying to make macchio a HS kid, and he's a 30 something year old.
You're going to love Cobra Kai. It's one of the best shows around right now. Also, fun fact: Thomas Ian Griffith (the guy that plays Terry Silver) is actually a year younger than Ralph Macchio.

If you look at Terry Silver through the lens of being high on cocaine, his character makes perfect sense. I still think this is a descent sequel showing Daniel straying from his normal karate path. Cobra Kai reactions are going to be fun.
There is actually one more Karate Kid film, "The Next Karate Kid" with Hillary Swank, which isn't terrible, and actually gives quite a bit more about Mr. Miyagi's story.
Please don't remind anyone of that film's existence
No it's not part of the trilogy
Please don't watch this if it means we wait longer for Cobra Kai lol Maybe after watch it after 3 of Cobra Kai if you really want to
Sorry, but....it was pretty terrible ^_^
Movie sucked. But Hilary Swank was the eye candy that kept me interested. She was really cute in that film
"Best karate still inside. Now time let out!" That scene is epic.
“Cobra Kai” originally aired on RUclips Red for the first two seasons. Then, Netflix picked it up after Season 3 and that’s where it has been since. I’m glad it found a home on Netflix.

The reason behind Daniel not being involved romantically with Jessica was actually a decision made by Ralph Macchio. He was 28 and married at this stage and didn’t think it was right out of respect for his wife. Also, I believe Robyn Lively aka Jessica was only 16 at the time.
Great reaction as always guys 💪🏻💪🏻
That is strange casting for her. She was 17 at release of the film making her 16 on set. Also the actor playing terry silver was 27. Macchio has always been the old guy on set.

It's the Rocky IV of the series, an over the top product of it's time. A lot of the behaviour seen from certain characters is concisely explained in Cobra Kai.
Very concisely!
@@marcuscato9083 😂😂😂 I was like..... "Yeah fair enough, that does explain it"
I’d say Rocky V
@@Sweetish_Jeff_ Agreed. Interesting idea with questionable execution.
It was the 80s.
You will love cobra Kai. It’s hilarious. When it first came out on RUclips I thought it may have been cheesy, but after watching the first few minutes I was hooked. It’s so well written and brings back that classic nostalgia from the movies. A lot of Easter eggs in the series from the movies
Sean Kanan (Mike Barnes) story for this role is quite interesting. He was a HUGE fan of the KK movies (seeing the first one 10 times before the second) and wanted a role. Sean actually has martial arts experience as well. His first task was try and intimidate Ralph Macchio and he did but the directors didn’t find it good enough and found someone else and he was real sad about it. Then one time he got a call that the other guy wasn’t cutting it so they told Sean to get to the studio fast.
Sean had also suffered a lot of injuries in this film as well. He had to get thrown through the door 20 times and ended up with a torn stomach and damaged abdomen wall. Had he not gotten an emergency surgery he would’ve died. Despite the severe surgery, he still did all of his stunts with a open stomach.
@x because it looked bad in the first 19 times, I guess.
@@fabiovieira8442 Boy they really know how to injure their actors don't they?
I'm glad he made it through otherwise he wouldn't be here today reprising his role can't wait to see him on Cobra Kai.
@x camera angles, lighting - loss of reasons
I love that you guys release your reactions at very unusual times. I'm definitely here for it.
Haha thank you! We are consistently inconsistent!
When Ralph Macchio calls home in "My Cousin Vinny", I always pictured his mom to be the mom from Karate Kid.
I just got done watching your reactions to KK 1 and 2. Was disappointed there wasn't one for 3 yet. Come back an hour later and it's here! Talk about timing. Can't wait for you to watch Cobra Kai. For a show that seemed in theory to be nothing but a feeble nostalgia cash grab, it was far better than I ever expected. Getting insight into other characters' motives and thought processes really gives depth to the story. Plus, it's just fun. If you told 14 year old me when I first saw KK, that I'd one day love Johnny when I was middle aged, I wouldn't believe you.
You both are in for an incredible ride with the Cobra kai series, it's one for the best shows ever made! Cobra kai never dies 🐍
oh yeah!!!!!
why becuase the bad guys in a way wins
@@olivercastillo5883what? 😂
Ralph Macchio didn't like how this movie turned out and tried to make changes to help it, it was his idea to have the mom make an appearance to explain her whereabouts and the character Jessica was supposed to be another love interest, but he had it changed to her just being a friend mostly because he was 27 and she was 16.
The thing I hated the most about this movie is that they regressed Daniel's abilities to the point where you forget he literally destroyed one of the greatest practitioners of Miyagi's karate in the last movie in a DEATH MATCH. How does he go from beating Chozen, who would undoubtedly destroy Mike Barnes, to getting beat by some random kid who only fights in tournaments??
True, but I think Cobra Kai repaired that inconsistency. Barnes psychologically terrified Daniel. He got in his head, made him lose focus and paralyzed him with fear. Daniel's greatest enemy in KKIII wasn't Barnes, Silver, or Kreese. It was himself.
@@josephsloop8865 I would argue that a guy following you around and threatning to beat you to a pulp for no reason other than he hates you is a much more effective form of psychological torture, yet he still managed to beat Chozen. Barnes just wanted to fight in the tournament. It made zero sense why Daniel didn't have the skill and mental maturity to handle these pathetic goons by this point in his training.
@@HumorousLOL It was a mental problem, Daniel lost his confidence. Against Chozen, he was sure of his abilities, and above all he was fighting for his life, and that of Kumiko.
Imagine that life, and by extension Karate, is a compass. Everything is fine if you follow the right direction, you are at peace with your Karate philosophy, no matter the outcome, you're sure to put up a good fight.
But the film spent time showing that Daniel had messed up his compass by following a path that wasn't his, and especially with a psychopath, and the fact that he was terrified of Silver messed it up even more at the time of the fight. It's no wonder he's having trouble concentrating, until Miyagi pulls his straps up.
@@tibsky1396 I guess that makes sense, but I still hated that they took him down that path, because he didn't seem to make any progress, especially with a sensei who knows one of the deadliest and most potent iterations of karate (according to the lore). Personally, this film makes much more sense as the second movie than it does the last. Were the 2nd and 3rd movies flipped, the trilogy would make a ton more sense. It is crazy that we never would have seen him transcend had it not been for the Cobra Kai show, which we wouldn't see until 30 years later. Thank god it was actually good.
Been binging season 4 of "Cobra Kai" like crazy since it came out on New Years Eve. All four seasons have been so fantastic.
Looking forward to seeing which characters from the movies that you both will recognize as you progress through the series. 😊
21:09 Its so badass how he completely destroys that wooden dummy.
The best two things about this film is Terry Silver (wonderful new villain) and the musical soundtrack of this movie. The music is the best of all 3 movies in my opinion.
The reason they made Jessica a friend was because of the actresses' age was too young for Ralph Maccio who was like 10 years older than her. He looks really young and is over 60 IRL.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, Mike Barnes's rant on the mat in the tournament is THE most EPIC villain rant of all time!!! Yes, it was over the top, but it was "over the top" greatness.
The ref was a joke in this movie: "Alright Barnes, one more violation and I will do absolutely nothing"
The only problem I have with 3 is Daniel's attitude towards mike. He literally just fought to the death with a dude who was straight up going to kill him, but hes intimated by mike. I mean, mike is intense, but it just seems off
Yeah. Bad writing. Also, part 3 is a cash grab. 💸 But, it doesn't completely suck, it's just unremarkable compared to the first 2 films. It's okay in my opinion.
Social media these days is a cesspool of ugly people shouting ugly things at each other. It's comforting to know that I can just come to RUclips to watch a movie with someone.
Great review!! Terry Silver still has that smart ass grin in the recent Cobra Kai series, "but I like that, I like that"
I love how Season 4 of Cobra Kai actually acknowledges and pokes fun at how ridiculous the plot of this movie is.
The guys who play Mike Barnes and Terry Silver actually do karate in real life, as well as act.
I think the irony is Pat Morita had the least karate experience on set.
@@crankfastle8138 Well Pat Morita was more of a comedian
Miyagi was a badass
"Is okay to lost to opponent, must not lose to fear."
"Best Karate still inside. Now time to let out."
One cool thing about Cobra Kai is that any time they bring in a character from the movies, it's always the original actor... so watching all three films just makes everything better.

This is one of my favourite reactions to come back to. Love the comments you two make.
I caught your cameo on Popcorn in Bed's awards video. It's nice to see some of my favorite reactors supporting each other.
Did he lose his dojo? Nah, he lost his mojo. 😄
Great review - accurate for watching 4 decades later - but in the 80s, it did work quite well. It was an innovative villain, that actually was copied by several other movies later (some that you may have seen so it didn't seem that interesting). Glad you watch I-III, Cobra Kai brings back some incredible nostalgia, slightly bordering the cheese level, but stands up pretty well, and I think as people that only recently watched the KK trilogy, you will indeed enjoy it.
That's one problem I guess with young folks going back and watching old movies. Great old movies always inspire newer but lower quality films - and the newer films get seen more often than the older films, so when you go back and watch the older films, you miss out on the appreciation of the original. Its rare to watch a re-make first, enjoy it, and then go back and watch the original and get blown away. If you watched the original first, you would not only get blown away, but also probably not like the re-make.
There were plenty of over-the-top villains in the 80s. Hence, Silver wasn't really seen as an innovative character. This trilogy was also labeled as Rocky for teenagers.
Okay, you cannot deprive yourself of the comedic pleasure of watching The Next Karate Kid. It's Pat Morita's final performance in the role, and it's just a crazy film. Feels like the pilot to a 90s version television series based on the Karate Kid, and not an actual theatrical film. Still, you should watch it because it is entertaining (sometimes for the wrong reasons), and, knowing Cobra Kai, they'll probably start pumping up references to it, and may even bring in some of its characters (who knows?), so you might as well watch it now to avoid confusion later.
The Next Karate Kid! Good things about it - Pat Morita, as always, and the villain is played by Michael Ironside, whose entire character feels like an evil/bad guy test drive of Lieutenant Rasczak, the character he played in Starship Troopers.
The good thing about Cobra Kai is that the episodes are relatively short, so you guys could do two or three at a time, so you'll get through it faster :)
yeah
"make his knuckles bleed" is the most badass delivery on Earth, ever uttered
There is a part 4
Called The Next Karate kid
With Hilary Swank
And Mr. Miyagui
An interesting thing about the friend/love interest,it was Ralph Macchio that wanted them to just be friends. She in real life was only 17,so he felt it wasn't comfortable with the characters being romantic since he was pushing 30 at the time and married.
You guys should really REALLY watch "The Next Karate Kid" within the entire "Miyagi-Verse". Ralph Machio has said repeatedly that it's a movie that's still considered canon for the entire "Cobra Kai" TV series universe. Anything that Miyagi was in will also tie into this series, so don't just skip it because it's not Daniel-centric! Miyagi is in "The Next Karate Kid" with Hillary Swank.
I wouldn't want to see them finally bring in Hillary Swank one day only to have you two who ABSOLUTELY adore this franchise miss another cool chapter in the Miyagi-Verse!
Just a random observation, but I always found it funny that the other fighters in the tournament outside of Barnes were so irrelevant, that they decided to add the 'Champion only fights the final match' rule.
Cobra Kai is probably one of the best shows IMO. It explores each character very well and deeply. Everyone's actions and reactions draws a line of being the victim or the bully to someone.
"I'm going to make them suffer and suffer and suffer, then I start with the pain!"😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
You need to React to The Next Karate Kid before doing Cobra Kai. It is completely Canon and is going to come into play.
The main reason to watch Karate Kid 3 is Terry Silver…this dude got his own villain Theme music because Bill Conti orchestrated it.
The part where the lights go out before Miyagi beats everyone up is laughable, reminds me of an 80s show called The Master with Lee Van Cleef . He was getting on a bit by this point so you only ever saw him fighting in full ninja outfit or in the dark 😂😂
When I was a kid i LOVED "The Master" lol. That show was so corny.
The things that i liked about this movie is very clear to my eyes:
1. The fact that Daniel wanted to make Mr Miyagi feel more at home with his
new shop that he presented to him for all the times that he saved Daniel.
2. John Kreese didn't just lose the dojo and went crazy for it.... he lost himself
and tried to justify it by beating that one obstacle that stood in his way.
3. Mike Barnes may be over the top when it comes to kicking ass but he definitely
shows a lot of it by trying to get the money he is promised. any fool would (Greed)
4. The fact that Daniel has no choice but to learn Karate because he is beckoned by
Cobra Kai, His Darker Ego is now manifesting in its wake, which in case he draws
first blood. And that is bad for Daniel, because is now Traumatised by it.
5. Terry is definitely a Badass Villain, say what you will about him. But he definitely
has $ Money, Power, and the persuasion of making many do what he wants them to
do without trying.
6. Mr Miyagi is one of the Baddest Masters to ever have by your side in the darkest of
times. Dude not only owns Cobra Kai he actually beats them down without trying and
walks away while humming a lovely tune in his head. R.I.P Mr Miyagi
7. During the fight, Daniel finally confronts his Darker Side by admitting he's afraid of
what he's become, during that scene where Daniel stares at the Evil Faces that are
laughing at him he realizes that he isn't afraid anymore and stand up for himself.
and i'm pretty sure there's plenty of greater things in this movie that many morons
miss out on. It's a 10 out 10.
I think this film really focuses on the relationship between Miyagi and Daniel.
"Oh man he just wasted a lot of money."
I was eating a bowl of cereal when you said that and almost spit it out lol. 😂
One of my all-time favorite sequels that's sequel number 3 out of anything Terry silver plays this character with anomaly first time I watch this I was scared of him especially that evil grin in the evil laugh
Thomas Ian Griffith (Terry Silver) said in an interview when this came out that he wanted Silver to be an over the top villain. He said he wanted kids to watch it & be terrified of him but be comedic for adults. Just wait til you get started w/ Cobra Kai.
Was just watching the My Cousin Vinny reaction and saw this dropped. This movie isn't great but I'm down to watch their reaction of Terry Silver. 🤣🤣 What's crazy is that he's younger than Ralph Macchio.

Terry Silver and Mike Barnes make this movie awesome. Also remember that Next Karate Kid is canon in the Cobra Kai universe.

Little people know that Terry is actually younger than Daniel in real life.
As some have pointed out already' there is still one more movie to go, The Next Karate Kid (1994).
Yes please!
Thomas Ian Griffith (Terry Silver) has a movie called "Hollow Point" along side actress Tia Carrere and Donald Sutherland. It was released in 1996 and is kind of hard to find now, but if you guys could find it you should check it out. I wouldn't recommend it for your channel because it wasn't very popular, but it is an awesome action-comedy movie.
I would watch 'The Next Karate Kid' with Hilary Swank for future reference before watching Cobra Kai. I believe Pat Morita was reluctant to reprise as Mr Mayagi again, but he went ahead and signed up for it.
Cobra kai producers said it's part of the universal & it might play a part in the series
8:12 "Now C'mon in, Lets celebrate" I have never laughed harder in my life
I'm curious what TBR and Samantha would think of the fourth movie, The Next Karate Kid. It doesn't have anything to do with the Cobra Kai series right now, but I enjoyed it a lot more than Karate Kid 2 and 3. I especially liked how different the story was, with Hilary Swanks character being pretty different from Daniel and having new experiences with Mr. Miyagi that Daniel didn't have. But it kind of sounds like they may not watch it, or maybe they don't know about it.
The Cobra Kai showrunners will totally get Julie Pierce into Cobra Kai if Hilary Swank is willing, they've implied as much and Julie & Daniel meeting would be just the sort of fun they'd like to give to fans.
No way is that movie better than pt 2 or 3
And Hilary already has a working relationship with Netflix
Without giving any spoilers, just so you know, any characters from these three films that appear in Cobra Kai ARE ALL played by the same actors. Only one very small quick scene with one character's parent from these films (Not Daniel's) is played by a different actor. That is especially fun when you see additional legacy characters appear.
Looking forward to you watching more Rocky and Rambo. And I rewatched these with you so I can watch Cobra Kai lol I was too lazy to put my dvds in lol
Cobra Kai is so good that I have recently thought it should have been basically The Karate Kid Part III, plot-wise.
Why did this drop at 3 am?😂😂 I mean I'm here for it!!!
I just finished editing! Sorry for the delay! Hope you enjoy the middle of the night reaction lol
"That doesn't mean I'm not your friend anymore." I wish that was what my, I guess now my former, best friend just said to me last week... Their friendship here makes me think of her too. She was just this really great supportive friend and we did so much together, then for some reason she drops me like a bad habit... Ugh, sorry for going on this off-topic vent, I guess watching this just reminded me how much I miss her...
14:31 imagine if someone makes an edit of this of the train hitting them with blood and guts splattered everywhere 😂
Haha what an ending for them to just get slammed by that train and the rest of the movie is just about the store and it becoming a massive success!
Jessica was originally supposed to be a love interest for Daniel. At the request of Ralph Macchio, they were made friends because he felt uncomfortable doing romantic scenes with Robyn Lively (sister of Blake Lively) because of the age difference between the actors.
I wonder if you guys would consider reacting to The Next Karate Kid? (It doesn’t have Daniel in it - the only recurring character is Mr. Miagi - but I’d be interested to hear your thoughts on the story in that one.)
Cobra Kai is going to be a true revelation for you guys. I'm kind of envious you get to experience it for the first time, I wish I could do that again.
20:38 «Rule number 1, a man can't stand, he can't fight.»
The Mountain from GOT: WRONG !
Thomas Ian Griffith, who played Terry Silver, starred in a bunch of direct to video action movies after this as well as supporting roles in theatrical films (John Carpenter's Vampires comes to mind). I particularity liked one he made called Excessive Force.
Now the real question is do you watch The Next Karate Kid. It doesn't have Macchio. But it does have Pat Morita. It probably has the most accomplished cast of all the films with Hillary Swank, Michael Ironside an Walton Goggins.
The Next Karate Kid is even worse than KK III. Hard to believe that is even possible.
I have to say that Daniel´s mom looks really pretty here. Pity she had no more camera time. She was funny in the first one.
Daniel had a secret masterplan: Buy a run down place full of karate training chores, so he could lose the 40 pounds he gained on the flight back from Okinawa.
Now on to Cobra Kai!!!! Can’t wait for your reactions. One thing however, the Cobra Kai episodes are about 30 minutes each. I find that really short therefore may I suggest you react to two episodes a week instead of one. Whatever you decide enjoy the ride. It’s a good series!!!!
Fun fact: Even though he looks younger, Terry Silvers actor is actually younger than Daniels by a couple months.
I really loved this review. This movie is the weakest of the original trilogy but still has some story and scenes that are worth watching. I can't wait until you guys start Cobra Kai! It's going to be so darn cool.
I actually liked this one more than 2. Silver is a psychopath lol!
@@xXDiGiTaLBaThXx Terry is the GOAT.
Karate Kid 3 is my favourite KK movie.
No it isn't, dumbass. It is the best of them.
@@MrParkerman6 Ya really just call someone a name? Classy.
@@MrParkerman6 It's not a good movie dude.
It’s worth noting that Terry’s plan of Mike winning a point, then losing it, hinges on Mike being able to get a point sooner. Meaning he knew Mike was the better fighter and could beat Daniel if he fought fair, but Terry wanted Mike to draw out the fight. That cost him the fight. If he just fought fair, he would win.
Loved your reaction to this! I would rank the Karate Kid movies like this
Karate Kid - 5 stars, classic
Karate Kid 2 - 5 stars, (even better than the first in my opinion)
Karate Kid 3 - 4 stars (some parts were kinda too over the top, except for Terry Silver’s character who played over-the-top just right)
Can’t wait to see you react to Cobra Kai next! It’s amazing 😀
Two scenes in KKIII get explained in CK--Silver's insanity and the reason why the ref never disqualified Barnes. But that won't happen until S-4.
That said, the thing that makes the three KK movies so special is that Daniel always says "WE" when he accomplishes something. He never forgets his best friend.
Believe it or not, Cobra Kai actually manages to make Terry Silver make sense.
With just one sentence
@UCjKXjiU_QvTrN1jy2deObeQ And two other scenes.
Ikr i liked him much more in cobra kai then in this movie
Whilst this Is the weakest of the three I will love it, even though it’s called Karate Kid it’s not really about Karate but a relationship between a boy and an essentially a surrogate Father, that’s why my favourite moment from all three is Mr.Miyagi finally accepting the Hug from Daniel after he wins in this one, it’s beautiful!
Obviously Pat Marita isn’t in Conta Kai as he passed away quite some time before it, but the tributes they pay to him constantly are so heartwarming it’s like he’s there anyway.
The thing that's going to make you feel really old is Ralph Machio is older in season 1 of Cobra Kai than Pat Morita was in the original Karate Kid
Wow that’s crazy to think about!
I didn't write this on Patreon in case ppl didn't see it but I feel RUclips comments get a lil more lost and I would hope people have seen the movie before watching this (though it's not necessary)..
Your comments about how it's weird that Silver wants to do all this just because of a dojo or get revenge for Kreese. It's a situation where Kreese saved Silver's life in Vietnam and it's one of those things. Obviously Silver felt indebted to him, and like for example I've seen other movies or shows where someone saves someone's life and they're like "They have a life debt on you now" so the person feels like they owe them their life, and I think that's the situation with Silver and Kreese.
You see in the beginning where he comes to give the keys back that they started Cobra Kai together. It's not a gang but it's very close knit like one.. It's like any other martial arts dojo and many dojos actually do have that strong tribe mentality. It's more like a Brotherhood, and well you saw what happens if you attack the brotherhood in the Witcher series.
It is kind of ridiculous but you gotta think about just how that could play out in Vietnam. Remember in Rambo 2 when Rambo saves that one guy from the POW camp. You don't know the situation as it was Kreese said he saved his lives more times than he can count. That combined with the kind of stuff that people experience in war like that.. This is literally why Kreese and Silver are the way they are.
Silver obviously moved on from that as he's this rich dude with a powerful business. Kreese though still thinks the war is going on, as is true for many veterans that come back from war. You can see this in how he trains is students "They the the enemy, and the enemy deserves no mercy." There are no enemies in such a wanton fashion in civilian life, that's just not how it works. For most people anyway. You don't teach teenagers that anyone who looks at you the wrong way is your enemy and the enemy is to be destroyed. That's what they teach in the military when you go to war.
But you get a glimpse here into why Johnny and the other Cobra Kais were the way they were because you saw Silver do that to Daniel, but Daniel already had the teaching from Mr. Miyagi. If he had not learned from Mr. Miyagi Daniel might have ended up just like Johnny and his friends. Coz in the first movie you remember he wanted to learn karate so he could "beat those guys up."
You guys are doing Cobra Kai? Heck yeah. Such an amazing show. Especially the end of season 4.
