- David Porter served in III Corps, South Vietnam, 1969-1970, as a Huey pilot, an executive officer and, for several months as an OH-6 (Loach) scout pilot. In that role, he flew about 200 combat missions. In this excerpt from a longer discussion, he remembers an incident with war protesters at the San Francisco airport. In 1995, Porter retired from the US Army as a colonel.Posted as part of the War & Life Project: / @listentoothers Any veteran who served in any combat zone in any capacity is invited to contact Preston Jones: pjones@jbu.edu or stuffoflife66@gmail.com / (479) 524-7488
