- I finally decided to sit down and tell you guys all about my college application process. I list all of the colleges I applied to, where I got accepted and waitlisted, and give you guys my advice. It was hard to sit down and film this video, but I know a lot of you wanted to hear it and I hope you get something out of it!

To all high schoolers: don't get involved in a thousand activities!! Get REALLY involved in 1 or 2. Colleges want to see passion and commitment, not a list of activities. Things have changed and this is a really misunderstood part of applying.
As a college sophomore TRANSFER student, I just wanted to say to anyone in the process or anyone who is a freshman and is worried that they won't feel/don't feel at home.. YOU CAN ALWAYS TRANSFER. The process is a bit of a pain, but you should feel like your college/university is home, so don't be afraid to transfer!!!!!!
THIS IS SO IMPORTANT OMG I originally was at university of pittsburgh for my first semester of college but i absolutely hated it there. i ended up taking a semester off and i felt completely lost. i decided to apply as a transfer to NYU to see if i would get in and i did (': i'm happier here than i ever could've been at university of pittsburgh and i'm also doing way better academically (holla at that 4.0.) if you're not happy at your college don't be scared to transfer!

UGA was actually my first choice as well when I was applying but I got deferred and ended up at the school I'm at now and I absolutely love it and can't imagine myself anywhere else! It really does work out people!!!

I was rejected to study physical therapy in all seven Universities that offer this study in Austria for two years... in the second "gap" year I worked and kinda got really interested into logistics... then I applied for International Logistics Management (which is only 35 spots in Austria) and I was so confident with applicatio interviews and got in :) don't be frustrated when you get denied... there is something better on the way

I remember my college counselor telling me in high school that 8 is a good number for applications.
2 "Dream" schools that are pretty unrealistic based on your stats
2 "Reach" schools that you could mayyybe get into but it would be a stretch
2 "Reasonable" schools that you are almost definite you can get into and
2 "Done Deal" schools that are basically your backups like if you don't get in anywhere else, you KNOW you'll get in there.
I personally applied to 1 school, and I got in and had a great experience. But I also knew I wanted to go to Texas A&M from second grade lol. I live right up the street from SMU. It's a great school, looking at them for grad school. The whole application process is STRESSFUL. Going through it now for grad school and I'm so overwhelmed lol
hey danielle! I was just wondering what happened when you applied to USC? I live in the South and have always loved the idea of going there so I was wondering what happened with your application process to USC?
What were your test scores & gpa?
This actually doesn't surprise me at all. I also came out of high school with a nearly perfect 4.0 (over a 4.0 weighted), lots of clubs and extracurriculars, a job all four years of high school, and hundreds of volunteer hours. I didn't do the best on the SAT but I also didn't do the worst. I think I applied to 6 schools total and only got into 1 and then later got into one more after initially being deferred. Its tough and it sucks but this happens to people all the time! It doesn't determine your worth but it is hard. Everyone applying right now, don't stress about it too much. Everything happens for a reason!

Melanie Davis don't worry too much. Speaking as someone who had pretty rough SAT scores, scores and grades are not everything. Schools will also pay attention to your extracurricular activities and essays you will write for them. A lot of my acceptance were due to my essays. This isn't to say grades don't matter, but don't over-stress about them :)
Don't say that! I'm sure you will get in. What was your sat score? Mine wasn't the greatest and I got into my top school
caroline bouldin , oh my gosh, I wrote this months ago!!! I actually got into my top school (Elmira) since they were test optional. And my scores were 1070 :(. But I got into another school with them so I’m not worried much anymore!!

I got accepted into a competitive business school and it took me 3 years to get into upper years as they only let 50 people in every year. I felt in my heart that's where I belonged and it worked out. Trust me, rejection in the moment is so painful, but once you get to where you need to be you'll see it brings so many positive lessons ❤️

i have the grades to go to a university right away but in my opinion college is so overpriced and i know for a fact if i go to a university right away, i'll be in debt for suchhh a long time. so i'm deciding to go to a community college for two years and then transferring but all my friends are going away + seeing all these youtubers vlogging their college experience is really making me regret my decision. i just wish there were more people who talked about community college on youtube. did you ever consider community college or did you know for sure you wanted to go to a university right away? everyone tells me that if i go to community college ill miss out on the freshman and sophomore college experience, but i personally don't think it's worth the money to have the "college experience". EITHER WAY, i'm still applying to some universities rn for a backup plan, and this really helped :))
Haleyyy xo scholarships!!! I went away for college and I have so many scholarships that it was the same price as community college. I wasn't an outstanding student in high school either. It can be done. You just have to push away what others think. If you believe this is the right decision for you, then go for it. But for me, the opportunity cost of having student loans was worth it 😊
I'm currently going to community college because of this reason too and I've been watching my friends go off and make new friends in dorms and living the "college experience" and I sometimes regret it but it all comes down to prioritizing. I would rather pay less, live at home, and save money than have a roommate, live on campus, and pay more for tuition. You can always transfer to a 4-year university after getting an associates at a 2-year college and it will actually make it easier to get into colleges that way because they will look at your community college transcript and not your high school one when considering your application.
i currently go to community college and the worse thing about it is like you said, all your friends leaving and getting that college experience. but when it comes down to it, it’s so much more worth it in the end when it comes to money. i have a friend who’s living at home but commutes so uncc, she payed 2000$+, me on the other hand paid 500$ for classes and a parking pass at the community college. i don’t need pay for a lot because i’m still living at home and once i get my associates i can go to almost anywhere i want.
It feels so good watching this from my college dorm knowing that I'm so happy where I am and everything worked out :)

As a high school sophomore, this video helped so much! I know next year I need to begin to look at colleges, so this helped a lot. I've recently been feeling that my grades are not good enough to get into the schools I want to go to. I take all honors/AP and usually get As and Bs, and I'm stressing out that my GPA is not good enough. This video helped so much though, because it shows everything will work out in the end! Essencella05 I would definitely check out academic summer camps! I was unsure about wanting to pursue chemical engineering but I got into an engineering camp at NC State the summer before my senior year and it really cemented in me that I wanted to pursue chemical engineering. Anything you can do that helps you get a taste of what those things are like can help you figure out! And it's also okay if you don't know what you want to do right now, you have plenty of time to figure it out and try new things :)

I'm actually from the Central Florida area and I am planning to transfer after my first year of College to either NYU or Carnegie Mellon which both have amazing Musical Theatre programs. I've haven't gone through any applications yet, but I'm planning to be applying and auditioning for six schools, four in Florida and two out of state.

How important is unweighted GPA when applying to college? I’ve made all A’s in high school, but I’m in Chemistry right now, and I’m not confident I will make an A. My school really pushes GPA, making thinking about college even more stressful. Love the video Danielle!
Betsy Norwood A couple so-so grades are not going to kill your unweighted GPA so much that it should affect your applications. My unweighted is above a 3.0 but far from a 4.0 but I haven't had trouble with college applications and acceptance to schools. YOU are incredible either way and will do amazing things in your life.

Applying for colleges here in the Philippines is different. Most universities have entrance exams, which makes me anxious. I have an exam on October 21, hopefully it all goes okay

I know you've made a lot of videos about your agenda, butt please do one where you talk about stupid stuffs you include in it, I tried to get one for this year but i just dont know what to write🤔 I just put homework and exams and that's all, a lot of the pages are empty and I feel like if used my agenda properly it migh made me more productive

UGA is the best school in Georgia, I live literally 10 mins away from downtown Athens lol. But I HATE Ga, I've been here for 17 yrs. In college, but looking into transferring where I get a higher chance of a scholarship since I have DACA. If you have the money for UGA, go for it! It's a great school.

The fireworks metaphor! Yes! Last year when the email came about my acceptance to San Francisco State University I felt those fireworks. Now here I am sitting in my apartment in SF typing this comment. Work hard kids. It pays off!
Kayla Yamauchi lol that wasn't a metaphor.. when you get into UGA the email opens with literal animated fireworks on your screen, I know because I got that email like 6 years ago and I still remember it!
Well, i live in Greece and the system is completelly diferent from America..We have to give exams for the schools that we want to get into in June and we basically give the subjects that we want to slecialize in. For example i want to go to medical school and become a doctor so i have to give biology, chemistry and physics and unfortulatelly languadge, but fortunatelly for me i LOVE biology, chrmistry and physics!!!so before we give those exams we have to give other exams to pass the class that include all the subjects that we have been taught...but it is worth it!!!MY ABSOLUTE DREAM is to go to medical school and i KNOW that i CAN get into it if i work hard!!!So for anyone who wants inspiration or motivation i would say to you this: NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE, BE FEARLESS IN THE PURSUIT OF WHAT SETS YOUR SOUL ON FIRE!!!Danielle you inspire me everyday!!THANK YOU❤

I had a very similar experience I ended up not getting into my top schools and I did so many extracurriculars and all that jazz, great gpa, but got denied. it was literally the hardest time for me because I saw people with lower statistics and who did not do many things get into those schools. so its true it all depends who's reading your application and stuff. but now I'm at the happiest ever at my college and I know I'm meant to be here. I cannot imagine not coming here. SO THERES HOPE AND BE OPEN MINDED
