Richard Lewis was wearing black and in the public eye on the daytime talk shows, etc, long before I ever heard of Richard Belzer? Lewis was the original wearer of the black in my opinion.
the two knew each other closely, were close friends, came out of the same 2 comedy clubs in the early 70s. belzer was on TV just as often…and in movies first
Richard Belzer did stand-up comedy in his early days, and also he passed away in 2023, which was likely recent at the time of the recording (Susie joked that Jon Hayman wearing shades in the studio was “an homage to our dearly departed friend”)
@@stacatalina I know, but Lewis would have been known for wearing black more than Belzer because more people say him and knew about him from his many TV appearances.
lewis didnt start wearing all black until late in the 80s. belzer did it the whole time, since the 70s. belzer was also in the movie that inspired SNL with chevy chase in 1974.
of course, belzer never usually was ALL black and was usually black & white or something. so technically lewis might get the title. he said in an interview that the first time he saw someone wear all black, before johnny cash, was on an old western TV show called Have Gun Will Travel.
@@GHOSTbirdnatureLOVER I don't think that is correct, but even if it was, Lewis was on the Tonight Show in 1975 and was better known as a comic than Richard Belzer. Belzer may have been known in the clubs, but for this point it doesn't matter.

I like the chit-chat between the two of you and any guest. I agree, however, that it is unbearable between Howard Stern and anybody. That's a "me" thing, though, as I have never liked Stern. 😁😜
They need to release 2 or 3 episodes a week, the breaks in between seasons are too long and people are losing interest. Most of these were filmed already during the shooting of season 12 so I dont understand the hold up.

What the Hell is Jeff talking about Cincinnati Chili does not have ketchup in it. Its ground beef with cloves and and other Middle Eastern spices in it. (Jordanian immigrants opened the first restaurant with it in the 1950s or 60s.) Also i guess it has a little bit of Bakers Chocolate (the unsweetened terrible tasting stuff) in it. So annoying when people say "stupid midwesterners put chocolate in chili and deep fry twinkies." We know what actual chili is and it makes no real sense why Cincinnati Chili is called chili. Its just a meat sauce served over spaghetti or on hot dogs
I love curb… I rewatch it all the time, especially the early episode. But I find myself not enjoying these podcasts. Half of the content is snippets from the show and Jeff not realizing the chronological order of the scenes in the episode. There is may be one or two backstory tidbits. Sorry to complain but I know this will probably be the one and only podcast regarding the show.
I never use ketchup not even for fries. I use queso sauce, BBQ sauce, chipotle mayo, cheese sauce, raspberry dressing or spicy and sweet honey mustard. Ketchup is so overrated and disgusting
Lewis's best improv of the entire series: "Yeah, know what would match her head? A dress made of turnips and blood."🤣
Agree 100%
The lady leading the prayer circle is the best. "No Larry, she needs to be over there with her husband"

Nobody in acting can do the fake telephone conversation better than LD. There's so many examples over the series.
