His whole algorithm belief is something I've always been on the fence on. On one hand, you can't blame outside factors for doing poorly in your matches, and there's no direct proof of his claims that isn't circumstancial. On a second hand, an algorithm that pushes more super-effective matchups over neutral ones could make sense to make games more exciting to play. Regardless, massive props to him for exposing this huge cheat.
@@giamoral10 I agree fully, honestly. I think IF such an algorithm exists, it's to push more super-effective Pokemon matchups over ones where both Pokemon resists each other or are neutral. So it's not there necessarily to make you lose, but that's a side effect it could have if you build very polarizing teams. As to why they won't show it, I suspect they can't. It's probably a risk to show the ins and outs of the system because learning the information would give bad actors the tool to abuse it.
The idea does have basis in potential motive on Niantic's end, certainly. Making it harder for people to advance means more going out and hunting down those "best of" pokemon - which means more purchases of pokeballs, incubators, raid passes etc. However, the reality most certainly has to be that some people either overcome it (to be the very top ranked player, for example), or it really isn't there to begin with. Though there could still be something like I heard another RUclipsr talking about - which is a system by which the game pits you up against players who are doing better the better you do - kind of like ranks within a given rank. And then the worse you do, the more the game might scale that back and pit you against players who are doing worse within or around your rank. This would explain the seeming ebb and flow that most players likely experience.
@@danieliusblackius1130the latter half of your comment just described the concept of ELO. Also making it tough is more likely to get a casual player to give up GBL than get a few to grind for XL rank 1 medicham so don't see the motive for Niantic
@@razorsharp5643Even with an algorithm, matchmaking involves the randomness of whatever players are choosing to play at a given time, something Niantic can't control. What possible proof would satisfy you? The biggest proof against there being an algorithm is that many players do manage to advance, whereas an algorithm that kept putting you up against bad matchups if you're ahead would make it almost universally impossible for anyone to advance.
i knew it. everything felt so fair until i got to level 20 and now nothing is getting me to level 21 because people know exactly when to switch and who to switch it to, how to switch at a moment where i am unable to, getting the charged before me even though mine was being clicked for at least 5 seconds prior, idk it just ruins the fjn of all of it. why do you want to cheat? it’s not like it’s a casino or something… the fun is not knowing and having to use your own poke skills to win, obviously. this is just pathetic least they could do is pair cheaters w cheaters lmao and keep them out of fair players’ way. cuz i’m def not getting 50/50, i can’t get past 1300 in the ranking system, i win 5 battles then lose the next 10 BY A MILLIMETER, seriously we’ll die at the same time and theyll get the win; and that’s if i don’t die first from one of the other obvious cheating methods. i will admit when a player has done much better than me, but i can tell when the plays simply don’t make sense
Also i don’t know if they can do this, but imagine seeing a team that can beat you so you force close the app and the battle doesn’t start so you don’t lose
Might explain why I get a lot of really random drops right after getting paired. They could be hunting specific leads. Could also be why it feels like I get dumped into negative leads seemingly too often.
I just want to know how the algorithm works now. Because whenever I go on a winning streak then I start going on a massive losing streak. I always get hard countered at the start of battle and have to fight for my life for switch. I genuinely feel like the algorithm is trying to keep you at a roughly 50/50 K/D. The best way to overcome this is to run a A/B/B team because whenever I run an A/B/C team then I usually get rock, paper scissored. I have swapped teams after every match already and been hard countered on the lead every time when I feel like I'm going on a losing streak. It does not feel random to me. Last season i made it into the high 2400 elo and then just before i got to 2500, my elo tanked super hard because I have been having extremely tough match ups. I'm definitely not a top tier player but I am nowhere close to bad to lose a full set, sometimes 2 sets in a row. But yet it still happens regularly.
People have been doubting Niantic’s ability to conjure an algorithm this good to matchmake and after seeing this done by their own community it would be naive to doubt they can do it too.
No one doubt that there is a match making system(obvious it is, you see it with points ingame). And sure, if you climb you ll face different teams/Metas … has nothing to do with algorithm it’s just match making and the fact that different teams leads to different ELO where you stuck. Like zyonik told, most teams a balanced, so if you have a weakness against fighting in the lead, mostly you ll have at least 1 or 2 counter for that in the back. There is no algorithm needed for a RPS based GBL league to get hardcounter front and back… This is the reason why many players use neutral saveswaps, why Lickitung is right now so powerful or Sableye was so strong a few seasons back. It’s the GBL itself, no algorithm.
I just played a few games where our first mons were charging attacks and my opponent switched and i switched immediately to a counter... My opponents second pokemon would have THEIR charged moved already full and attacking with them upon my switch-in. How is thay possible? And I'm talking about moved like shadow ball or flame charge, they take a while to charge.
1 game fixed a similar issue is Randomize the player name so bot could pull data about unknown player. Your name would display before battle but once in the loading screen it would Randomize it.
They should also make attempts to find trainers' names and information who have clearly provided it to that Discord, knowing they'll gain an unfair leverage. They go all out against spoofers, they need to go even harder on cheaters in a PvP scenario. BAN EM

Personally dont have much opinion on the algorithm but my partner and I have talked about how weird it is that we have pretty much the same win loss ratio every season despite her just running politoed since day one, without earthquake, love it.
The algorithm is definitely real. If you look at everyones win/loss on live streams etc its always 50% win rate. Every season ive played is 50% win rate. If it was truly random there would be more diversity
Thank you for bring this issue up Z man🙏🏽 I watch all pogo contents in YT for info and i also know that there will always be differences and disagreements but who doesn’t. I am just happy that your bring this situation to light. For that good sir, your cool with me🤙🏽
Regarding the algorithm, I don't believe there are accounts on "easy/ hard mode", but I do think there is something fishy in gbl matchmaking. Last time Niantic addressed this, they were way too vague saying you are matched based on your ELO AND team comp. According to them, what is exactly team composition? Overall type weaknesses? ABB/ABA/ABC? Fast/Charge moves? I would think otherwise if the game let you to choose your mons AFTER being matched. I will take longer? Yes, but at least it would feel fair.
This exploit literally proves that there is an algorithm in Go battle league. The fact that Pokémon go monitors both teams like this obviously can tell us they’re using it for matchups
That might explain a few matches I had today. I led with a sceptile with breaking swipe and aerial ace and a few times I had Tapu Fini stay in and no shield
Clear proof is when you don't see a Pokémon for 20 battles until you change your line up and a Pokémon that counters it all of sudden turns up. Don't need niantic to tell me.
Poke is right - the algorithm does cheat you. Otherwise that data wouldn't be a part of matchmaking. Think about it - why does the matchmaker need that Metadata? If it were purely ELO based team comp wouldn't be exported metadata.
@@_Amit_Sunil I can tell I've touched a soft spot for you, but I can agree with Poke Ak's idea of a possible "algorithm" . @@cashm4705Gbl is too nuanced for an algorithm to accurately do that. Makes me wonder if some of these popular GBLers who reach Legend in like 250 battles have been using this bot. There's something so fishy about them climbing without tanking a good chunk of elo afterwards
@jordanw2009 so because there's a cheat, now every single player that gets to Legend is abusing the cheat? Let's not generalise for the sake of generalising. There are players who are just good at the game, like you get in any other game
I myself believe that Niantic rigs the games to make them 50/50. These are just my experiences. But if I have played well one day, oh boy, the RNG the next day are gonna be brutal. Big props for making a video on this!!! You and poke AK are the few Pogo creators I follow heavy and I guess real recognize real!
Why not simply show how matchmaking works then? It obviously has some algorithm to matchmaking, but it does not mean it it's there to fuck you up.
That explains how I lost 700 elo in the last few weeks of the season
Look I’ll admit I’m not a fan of PokeAK… but for once… he’s doing something right
Oh LOL forced to admit it
I'm not a fan either, but there are times when he is right. This is one of those times.
Felt this. Broken clock right twice a day you know the deal
I like poke...he's just outspoken and I like that he's not the normal battle league creator
Just curious why are yall not fans?
i knew it. everything felt so fair until i got to level 20 and now nothing is getting me to level 21 because people know exactly when to switch and who to switch it to, how to switch at a moment where i am unable to, getting the charged before me even though mine was being clicked for at least 5 seconds prior, idk it just ruins the fjn of all of it. why do you want to cheat? it’s not like it’s a casino or something… the fun is not knowing and having to use your own poke skills to win, obviously. this is just pathetic
least they could do is pair cheaters w cheaters lmao and keep them out of fair players’ way. cuz i’m def not getting 50/50, i can’t get past 1300 in the ranking system, i win 5 battles then lose the next 10 BY A MILLIMETER, seriously we’ll die at the same time and theyll get the win; and that’s if i don’t die first from one of the other obvious cheating methods. i will admit when a player has done much better than me, but i can tell when the plays simply don’t make sense
Thanks for commenting on his video. I hope they fix this huge problem
I always use a lot of pokemons with very strange sets and i wondered how in the last times they shielded a lot things that nobody would.
Also i don’t know if they can do this, but imagine seeing a team that can beat you so you force close the app and the battle doesn’t start so you don’t lose
Sorry error:6 occurred
THAT'S interesting..🤔
Might explain why I get a lot of really random drops right after getting paired. They could be hunting specific leads. Could also be why it feels like I get dumped into negative leads seemingly too often.
I love that Zyonik featured PokeAK. Two of my favorite Pokemon Go RUclipsrs :)
Thanks for sharing this, and much respect for giving credit to poke AK not everyone does that
I just want to know how the algorithm works now.
I just had someone use Avalanche on me twice with less than a second in between which made them barely win a fight against me lol.
Literally just happened to me a few minutes ago. Opposing Obstagoon used two Obstructs in a matter of like 5 seconds
There is no algorithm needed for a RPS based GBL league to get hardcounter front and back…
This is the reason why many players use neutral saveswaps, why Lickitung is right now so powerful or Sableye was so strong a few seasons back.
It’s the GBL itself, no algorithm.
Thank you Zyonik for posting this video. This is so bad. It is so ridiculous people would do this. Have some principles in competition trainers
And yet people always say it's lag. When it's clearly cheating.
They should also make attempts to find trainers' names and information who have clearly provided it to that Discord, knowing they'll gain an unfair leverage. They go all out against spoofers, they need to go even harder on cheaters in a PvP scenario. BAN EM
Ever since hitting legend 2 seasons ago, I realised I’m getting hard counter last season till it’s not worth stressing over GBL anymore. The sudden lags and now this nonsense support it’s. rip gbl
Do you get lag preventing you switching pokemon after charge move? I constantly getting 1 turn lag.
If a bot can access your team and moves, there’s 100% an algorithm too! Watch gbl unravel soon!
I don't know where all the Hate for PokeAK is coming from. In my opinion a decent Dude.
He's a decent guy for sure but Occam's Razor suggests that he's just not as good of a gbl player as he thinks he is.
I think because he's always been outspoken about disagreeing w cancel culture and "other" things that go on nowadays. And everyone knows the pokemon community tends to have alot of people that don't like those views. And they've always gave him sh** for his views on the algorithm . I honestly like him for it...adds some spice things besides your basic creator lol
He's against "progressive ideas".. like the pronouns and trams stuff. Majority of the vocal people in social media are in favor of those.
People don't hate him, it's just that his attitude towards other trainers and wild conspiracy theories have made him become a literal meme. And that makes him mad.
@@icanmakericeDidn't know that, makes me like him even less than before tbh
I've been telling people that it felt like battlers were cheating. For the longest time it felt like a lot of people I faced knew exactly when to shield, when not to shield, when to safe swap into something random, or even knew if I didn't have the best charge move. I think I'm done with go battle, and it was the only thing I really got into in this "game".
I'm so happy to see this video from you Zyonik! You're awesome
Thank you for sharing this important info PokeAK had shared.
Hopefully Niantic will act on it asap
Much respect for this video and your take on AK's opinions, I feel like his video could have easily gotten ignored because of his usual claims but im glad you are trying to get the issue more coverage.
This is why I always say to remove feelings and be willing to listen to ideas.
This is a massive cheat, although it's really lame.
All cheats are lame, especially on PvP. These guys have skill issue and bypassed it on using hack

Great job making a video about this matter!! I take ack my last comment. You are a real one!!
This explains so much.. very saddening to hear.
They put in the algorithm so you can’t abuse the free rewards
This might change entire GBL .... Now we all have doubts that if all are playing legit fo reach Legend rank
This exploit literally proves that there is an algorithm in Go battle league. The fact that Pokémon go monitors both teams like this obviously can tell us they’re using it for matchups
🎯
Ding ding ding!
DING DING DING POINTS FOR EVERYBODY!!!!!
Why wouldn't you think the game would be able to read your teams? Lol
Not in any way, shape or form but go off king
That might explain a few matches I had today. I led with a sceptile with breaking swipe and aerial ace and a few times I had Tapu Fini stay in and no shield
That’s why u lose some matchups when some opponents switch with no reasons
Clear proof is when you don't see a Pokémon for 20 battles until you change your line up and a Pokémon that counters it all of sudden turns up. Don't need niantic to tell me.
Yep
Poke is right - the algorithm does cheat you. Otherwise that data wouldn't be a part of matchmaking. Think about it - why does the matchmaker need that Metadata? If it were purely ELO based team comp wouldn't be exported metadata.
I love to see how much people hate on Poke Ak. He speaks truthfully 99% of the time and you guys give him hell for it
99% of the time 😂😂 like how the algorithm hard counters you 99% of the time?
@@_Amit_Sunil I can tell I've touched a soft spot for you, but I can agree with Poke Ak's idea of a possible "algorithm" . After winning sets of either 4-1 or 5-0, the following set(s) are complete walls.
That being said, I've hit legend three times so I think it is safe to say I know what I'm saying.
@@cashm4705Gbl is too nuanced for an algorithm to accurately do that. If I lead scizor during an "algorithm" set then I can expect a fire type in the lead, no? and if that's how that is then why not put two waters in the back and exploit the algorithm? how about two waters with mostly different weaknesses, like swampie and azu? is the algorithm gonna go find someone queueing up in that exact moment with fire/grass/grass? likely not
Makes me wonder if some of these popular GBLers who reach Legend in like 250 battles have been using this bot. There's something so fishy about them climbing without tanking a good chunk of elo afterwards
No shit. It been obvious but nothing definite till now so I’m glad there’s finally proof

And I switch things ups as well to test it out. And it is bonkers how insane "unlucky" I get.
Like today. I have never used my Umbreon as a starter. And guess what, the FIRST THREE teams I face, have a Machamp as a starter... I have rarly seen teams using Machamp. And I have NEVER even seen them as a starter.
And this happens ALOT for me. If i play well in one set, I can just predict that the next three games are gonna punish me with the EXACT same hardcounter three times in a row... How quant and not strange at all. :P
How is that even possible to do, especially with such precision and short notice. Like how can it read the code in live time?

poke ak is right when it come to algorythm, most (if not all) games that have an elo rank system will try to keep you at 50% win rate, with matching you against stronger/weaker players and in pogo case with teams that counter you
