She was just as responsible. She knew it would not be done by a professional and BOTH were drinking. I disagree with this judgement. She was blaming him for her judgement call. With this judgement she did not learn anything. Just feeds into the culture of thinking to blame others.
She knowingly got tattood. She should be liable for her decisions, it was not done without her consent. Consider this alternate scenario: She was drunk, and asked him to buy her a lottery ticket.. and it won. Is she not permitted or authorized to claim because she was drunk?
Not a good comparison since a winning lottery ticket (on its own) is not a deadly weapon. No chance of becoming septic and losing an appendage from a lottery ticket.
I think Judge Rinder was more angry at Max because he had more knowledge of the consequences of mistatooing than she had. He did not give her the money for her stress because she was to blame as well. It is hard to be a judge and to rule fairly to all parties involved.
IMO she should have had to pay for half the removal, she is the one who wanted the tattoo in the first place and was one of the main reasons she went to the party let alone she was drinking also.

I’m an EMT. And I have seen situations where this has happened and the person who got the “ tattoo” turned septic and they were in the ICU. They have lost the appendage they had tattooed. You really REALLY need to get a tattoo at a licensed facility. A needle is a needle. END OF. He could have gone too deep , hit a vessel , Tattoo artists the licensed ones learn anatomy, so they know where nerves are, arteries, veins, tendons. You can do some serious damage. The buttocks have the largest vessels in the body . If he had hit one or the ink had gotten in the blood stream.. no bueno.
Kori Emerson - Thank you for reinforcing what Judge Rinder said as well as his expert witness. I have a tattoo which I got after speaking to many people who had tattoos already, as well as speaking to a doctor about how to find the right tattoo salon. After visiting half a dozen places, I was shocked to find a few that re-used needles, that left a needle in the gun and took a break then came back and resumed tattooing with the same gun that had been lying unattended in the open air of the room for 20 minutes, and a third salon that made all the right motions of being clean but were sterilizing their instruments in a sterilizer that looked like it had seen action in WWI. I chose the salon that has its sterilization process listed on the wall in front of the customer, and that process includes having a second tattoo artist come following behind, checking every step of the cleaning process as it's done by the artist preparing for his/her next customer. After the tattoo was finished I was required to stay in the salon for 30 minutes being observed for any adverse reaction and being counselled on after-care by a staff member. Anyone who gets tattooed with a company that does anything less than this procedure is gambling with their health, and maybe their life. If you're only out for an ill thought out design on the spur of the moment, do yourself a favor and buy a temporary tattoo that you peel off of a piece of paper.
I knew tattoo artist was trained. Never occurred to me they did such deep training like anatomy. But makes complete sense. People don't realize the deep consequences.
Large vessels in the buttocks? Exactly what large vessels do you think are likely to be hit? Arteries or veins? And the largest? That is total crap. None of the largest veins in the body are in the buttocks. As for getting ink in vessels, this is going to happen regardless. The fact that you bleed when you get a tattoo means the needle hit a vessel. And the needle had ink on it. And perhaps some bacteria. You don’t know what you’re talking about.
Say what you like (really) but I do admire the way she didn’t lie once. Told the truth about wanting it, told the truth about knowing he was drunk, told the truth about it all.
She can't wear a bikini or shorts, but that's her fault for wanting an unlicensed, illegal tattoo requested by a drunk, started by a drunk, completed by someone who may have been sober or even drunker! I'm not going with sober! 😡😡🤦🤦👵🇺🇸
It sounds like everyone at the party was blotto, although the condition of the one who finished it was never said. From what was shown of the tattoo, however, it's probably safe to say that that person was not totally sober, either.
