Hi Nick. thanks again for the great review. It is amazing how much the psychological approach to a racquet, especially the looks/shape of it, play a part in this. Watching most of your videos I felt that with the Boom your shots looked very close to Babolat times and I did not see that to this extend in the previous videos in this series. Fun fact, when my coach asked me 2 years ago to test the Boom for myself, my frist reaction was...."hell no", I'm not touching that ug** piece ;)) After 3 hours of testing on 3 different days I decided to stay with it. This was at a time when I had already tested some 20 racquets....I feel your pain. Good luck for the search and keep posting these great reviews. Thank you.
I loved the boom pro when I tried it. Great mix of power and control. Loved it on my 1HBH too. It just didn’t have the spin I wanted for my game, so I went with the vcore 95.
I'm so enjoying this series! A few of your picks are on my list to buy but I can't be sure. I do know I want a stiffness around 65, a longer grip, and 16x19. I trust you my friend! ❤
Nicola, I had bought the first Boom Pro when it came out. It was the racket that got me into switching to a 2-handed backhand. It felt super natural to hit the 2-handed backhand with the Boom head shape.
Great video. I think a Racquet line you would like based upon wanting a little more power with control is the Babolat Pure Strike range. The 97 may be to light for you, but the 98s & the 100s are phenomenal. More added feel from their previous generations.
For a player of your level, no surprise you like the "pro" versions in the Head lineup. I think the Boom is that kind of racquet that maybe has not the best feeling, yet makes you win more points 😅. For a lower level player (thinking myself or "your" Shamir!) the MP really sprays some balls but helps to win more easy points. And it's really comfortable 🤗
I was playng with vcore pro 97 for the last year and now i am with the boom pro. It has the same weight, balance and sw than vcore pro 97, but with a little more power, spin and less muted. Everything i needed in my vcore pro 97.
Another great video! Too bad the Boom wasn't to your liking. It's all about finding the right racket for YOU. I've always spoke very highly of the Speed, which I know you hated that one. But I recently demoed a Gravity MP and played some of my best tennis and ended up buying one. I didn't know I needed more control until I demoed the Gravity. 😂
As always, great video! I had the same feeling when using these. They felt mushy, would launch the ball if contact was a little bit closer to the tip rather than the centre and weren't overly stable. Onto the next one!
Came back to the sport after a long time off and got the boom pro from 2023 last year. Definitely solid, but I haven't demoed any of today's more popular racquets to compare.
@intuitivetennis You should consider trying the Prince Ripstick. It comes in 280g and 300g version. Solid feel, decent power and moderately stiff. The Oport design also gives you more access to spin and better maneuverability.
Been watching this as I am on a similar journey trying to replace my old titanium radical. Thing with searching for a racket in our age bracket is coming clean with ourselves on which is more important, winning points or hitting for pleasure. From the video I do see that you are having more fun and can hit out freely with the pro, and that is pleasurable. For points, I see you doing better with the MP but maybe higher string tension for added control. Again, what’s the priority?
Great video Remains my self when I hit first time with the Boom👌 After six months of playing with it I found Yonex VCOR 98 and final decision was made Only Yonex stays in my tennis bag Good luck and thank you
I love the Boom MP. I’m shorter and rely on quick acceleration strokes. Only thing is that the swing weight after measuring was not as advertised. Had to add lead at 12 o’clock
You seem to be playing very well with the pro. The final veredict felt like you just didn't like the design and paint colour of the racket. I don't think those are good enough reasons to disregard them. That is just my take on it.
I dont think the Boom Pro is stiff + responsive enough for this style. It's also very unpredictable according to my clubs pros and the Rackets and Runners channel
@@zuh1902 yeah I tried to switch to the boom pro, great controllable power and topspin forehand but the stringbed was too unpredictable, if you hit the ball in the area between the normal teardrop shape and where it gets wider you sometimes get an unexplainably uncontrolled shot, it just flies, hopefully they will fix that in new versions
@@zuh1902 yeah ezone is a very tough act to follow, its powerful and reliable, it always gives what you expect from a shot, you know why you missed or hit a winner
The higher RA in feel is the effect of the auxetic by head. The are more flexible/feel oriented at touch shots / slower swings and stiffen up when you hit hard
good point, head has been using some material that makes some of their racquets do this for a long time i think it is called graphene, it is perfect for motorcycle protection gear too because it stiffens up at high impact but is flexible when bent slowly. the problem in the past was when you hit a hard shot it was extremely stiff and hard on your arm, you thought it was a soft racquet because of how it felt on a lot of the slow balls that you would hit but it was like two different racquets depending on ball speed, they seemed to have fixed how bad it was on the hard shots though
@@IntuitiveTennis If you do try the vcore 98 (and tour) pls try to have it strung with your favorite poly at a decently high tension in your usual range. From what i've seen you tend to like a stiffer racquet and the 2023 vcore has a low RA and can also be quite muted. I like it because it provides lots of spin and is a sleeper in the comfort department for a fairly powerful racquet
It's been emcouraging to see you leaning into power rackets even though you generate way more racket head speed on your strokes than I do! Seems to be a trend among pros too. But it's been a useful ego check to move past the idea that I "generate plenty of power on my own".
A racquet with similar shape but perhaps more responsive could be a Prince Beast 100. (But I wouldn't discount the 100 versions of the Prince ATS Tour either)
Would you ever consider the Furi Arma Pro 98? It's a smaller brand of course but it plays like a pro staff with a bit more "free power". I find myself returning to this racket often!!
Nice review. I am lokking for a transition raquet for my 11yo kid. He plays a lot of competitions and i was thinking about Boom MPL, Speed MPL and Head Radical Team. What do tou suggest me?
Wish I had Nick's serve, hits so many aces but racquet could be better, talk about 1st world problems!! I've watched all his racquet reviews and I think he played really well with the Boom Pro but if you don't like a racquet you don't like a racquet, very personal choice, I think the Boom Pro could still go into his finalists list though, it didn't seem to have any big drawbacks.
What about the strings used on these rackets? Doesn't the string make a difference how the racket plays? I feel like a racket might work well for you if the string is suitable for your style and the racket's characteristics.
I’d assume he’s stringing them all the same with the same string and tension if not 🤦♂ he’d be wasting his time but he’s too experienced not to be doing that.
Your backhand looks really good. Arms and wrists are relaxed with fluid stroke. Forehand doesn't look too good. You are kinda artificially lagging the racket and then swinging with your upper body for the power. Just swing it like your backhand and you will be fine.
Hey, what do you think are the biggest differences between the boom pro and the Blade v9? ( i dont know which one to buy and i am a one hander) Great video!!
@@IntuitiveTennis and blade has much more normal paint job, head could have sold a lot more Boom's if they ditched that trendy color and gone with something more neutral that won't look dated next year IMHO

Agreed. They just feel weird and don’t play that well either with these sticks. Milan looking scary again. Think he may get you in a set now these days😅
For some reason I can see the Volkl v1 evo 305 g working well for you or the vcell v1 mp or pro but you most likely won’t do Volkl..The V1 evo is a sleeper frame in my opinion..
Forehand fix idea: try not to artificially lag the racket before having pushed off the ground. You want to push off the ground first which naturally makes your racket lag. To execute: just focus on keeping arm and wrist fully relax. Just imagine palming the ball from the bottom and spinning it in ur hand. Contact point in front. As long as your arm is relax your body will naturally power the swing using the legs pushing off the ground without you having to think about it. That is the secret. If you think about it you will mess up. Just keep arm relaxed, Contact point slightly in front and just imagine what you are going to do to the ball in your brain Getting under it and spinning it. You will know the difference. If you do it right, your upper body should not be over rotating. Should look just like your back hand.
