I remember seeing this on TV back in the 80's..... such great memories. Im a huge Deb fan. I'm also from Long Island. I only got to meet her once when she was in Beauty and the Beast on broadway. I waited for her at the stage door and I got an autograph.
1:22--In case anyone's wondering, back when Debbie was a spunky teen pop star, she still managed to attend, and graduate from, Sanford H. Calhoun HS in Merrick, NY, which explains the sweater she was wearing on one of the "Hollywood Squares" episodes.
Wow, I had this on VHS back in the day! When they came back from a commercial, she sang a faster version of "Only In My Dreams." It was hilarious, because in the middle of it, she yelled, "Get down, Jim!" :)
The first time I heard this song I found it remarkable anyone, much less a high school girl, could be so clever as to come up with a song title with several possible meanings. And a song that managed to explore all the possibilities while staying lively and fun.
Her answer about running for Congress was a damn good guess, especially for a showbiz kid. She was probably remembering you have to be 35 to run for President. She's clearly no fool, and very poised! Well done, Debbie!
