Yeah! I knew that I wasn't imagining that head bop from your first reaction to Day6 with "Sweet Chaos". I picked this one as your second reaction to them on purpose knowing there was a good chance you would actually fully enjoy it. And I'm happy you did! I am surprised and not surprised at the same time about your score here. Like I said, I knew there was a good chance you would actually enjoy this one but at the time I didn't know what your score to "Sweet Chaos" was going to be. Then when I saw your score to "Sweet Chaos" I was really surprised because that meant that your score to this was going to be even higher! So far they have the 2nd best score average with you for Korean bands after Bursters (Metalcore). That's higher than Rolling Quartz (Punk, Hard Rock), Onewe (Alternative/Pop Rock) and Xdinary Heroes (Pop Rock) so far. I have to say I did not actually expect that. Very cool! More Korean Rock bands to come!
When it comes down to it, Day6 is a Pop Rock band so in terms of their main promotional singles in South Korea, this is probably the "hardest" that they have gone over there. Some of the deep cuts in their Korean albums though is a different story and those are interesting. But consider this main single track, "Shoot Me", to be a preview, or a teaser if you will, for some of their Japanese songs which will come much later on. We're still going to dive into more of their main singles from South Korea so who knows how you will feel about them. No matter what you feel about them though, keep what you felt about "Shoot Me" in mind for when I someday request some of their Japanese tracks. Your eventual reaction to their Japanese tracks will be something to look forward to.
I do like that you admitted that there are Rock bands who do incorporate Pop elements in their work. And I am pleasantly surprised that you also said that even if a Rock band does add Pop elements to their work, it does not take away from the fact that they are still Rock. I will bring up another one that a lot may not want to admit it but it's true... Band-Maid. Yes, Band-Maid does incorporate Pop elements in their Hard Rock/Metal compositions. The way they do it is very impressive and it's their way of doing it that gives them their unique sound but without a shadow of a doubt there are sprinkles of Pop in Band-Maid's music. I do not have a problem with Pop whatsoever because for me I care more about whether or not a song is good but I just want to add to the good point that you made there even if some Hard Rock and Metal fans of Band-Maid don't want to admit it. And cool of you to mention The Misfits. Maybe some Day6 fans passing through here will be curious enough to check those tracks you mentioned out.
And that was a thought-provoking observation you made that the beat here was almost reggae. Never thought about that but that's a very cool thing for you to note!
    Nice reaction, David! Thanks!

I gotta add that Day6 is mainy a part of a mainstream kpop company. They've repeatedly said that while they write their songs, they also write it in the hopes that it gets approved and we know that in sk, they'll heavily lean towards the more poppy sound than rock (which is in contrast to Japan) and that's why they're able to explore heavier sound for their japanese releases. They're korean b-sides tho, like I Need Someboday, Warning, Rescue Me and 121U, are some of my favorites

As I said in my comment here, I will be requesting that he react to their Japanese tracks much later. He is not going to be reacting to them now especially since the links that I will give him will have new and improved English translations of their Japanese songs done by me personally. So there's no real point in putting up those links. Just wait till I get my uploads of them ready. 🙂
