      Exactly, pull the mattress out. It's also easier with two people, one on each side. Easier to slide out and in, and easier to hook the corners. Easy as a team.

    Another difficulty is not having "stuff". Some folks really like a quantity of things they've accumulated or like having Costco sized shopping trips. Storage and space has to be planned for with appropriate items. You most likely won't have room for every tool, project, delicate China, kitchen gadget, etc.

    Stacy, the easiest way that I make our motorhome's bed is to pull the mattress out about 2-3 feet (Phil ... help her pull it out!), and then make the bed from there. It's really simple to push it back in once the bed is made. It's a thousand times easier this way! Give it a try ... you'll thank me for it!

    #1, #2 and #3 are sooo true. We lived on a 25 foot tugboat for a year and I really missed my alone time. I solved it by doing laundry. Laundry was usually once a week and it took 2 hours to do our few clothes, bedding and towels. Wonderful quiet time to recharge. And we agreed that if one person had headphones on you didn’t interrupt them unless the boat was on fire or friends were knocking on the hull to invite us for “Docktails” (cocktails on the dock).

    What I've learned from this video...... Always have full hook-ups. LOL Since I retired, the adjustment of being together 24/7 in our sticks and bricks was tough. We still have the homebase but have found that going for walks by yourself helps. I also have taken over some things my wife had always done, like making beds, vacuuming, cooking etc.

    • @todayissomeday
      @todayissomeday  5 лет назад

    When we were full timing most of the time hubby was working that 40 hours or more most of the time - we talked about the togetherness before heading out - we agreed if either of us needed some alone time the other wouldn't get bent out of shape. Neither of us ever took that alone time. He would work 8 - 10 months then take time off so there were some longer than usual times of togetherness but was thankful for those work times.

    Tip: Pull the whole mattress off, put on the sheets, put the mattress back. Much easier...

    • @curtisrose9406
      @curtisrose9406 5 лет назад +1

      Pulling the mattress off sounds like a good idea, BUT! not an option for us. As you probably know the mattresses that normally come on RVs are not the highest quality. Many people, including us, opt to replace the standard mattress with a more comfortable one. More comfortable most often means heavier. It is quite a chore to slide the mattress down, even for two people so this not an option for my wife and quite difficult for me by myself.

    Tip : when buying an RV, make sure you test every single appliance: water heater, furnace, A.C. etc BEFORE you leave the dealership. I didn't, and the very 1st time I used the trailer, the furnace didn't work. Turned out to be a bad wall thermostat. Once an older couple pulled into the space next to me and their brand new 100K 5th wheel had a "dead short" when he plugged into the campgrounds electric.

    Nice video. I see that medical issues didn't make your list. Is that because a lot of time you have a military hospital/clinic available? Do you fly back to your Primary Care Manager in your state of residency? I have Tricare Prime so think I would be good to go. Just curious how the two of you deal with this issue.

    • @todayissomeday

      Medical issue are a very broad subject so that would be tough to tackle. We actually return to our home base for routine visits and Phils specialty visits which will be every 6-12 months. We have Prime also and it hasn't been a problem. Thankfully we also have not had an emergency either.

    My wife and I decided a long time ago instead of making your bed like you would at home, we just bought a double sleeping bag which has a zipper on each side. It's very easy in the morning to deal with a bed you don't have to make. However if you still insist on having to take the time to make the bed each morning then go for it! It's just not ideal for us!

    Just after watching this together my husband and I got lost in the car looking for a restaurant. We arguing a bit about which way. Suddenly my husband laughed and said I was supposed to like him. I started laughing too and said I don’t have to like you in the car, I only have to like in the RV.

    We will be full time by this next fall. All of your reasons were funny but not unexpected. I told my husband that when we each need some alone time one of us would go to the bedroom while one stayed in the living room for a while. I can read laying across the bed lol! Just a thought and wonder if this is something you guys might do. Love your videos as they have been very informative and helpful.

    Just read this about making bed. Omg i had to giggle. That was me when we first started camping with travel trailer. But then i also started pushing matress as the others have mentioned sooooo much easer to do. Now we have fifth wheel and i make bed same way by pushing matress.

    Here's a thought about making the bed. Start at the head. Pull the mattress out away from the wall. After you have tucked the fitted sheet, put on the top sheet and tucked everything in, you can slowly push the mattress back to the wall and everything should stay in place. You could then finish the other end.

      Such a cute video! My husband and I are just getting caught up with all the videos and we were both laughing at how cute this one was :). Phil was especially laughing at the “Navy” shower - - as I was rolling my eyes (and inside dreading them)! BTW - they do make zipper RV sheets that help making beds MUCH easier ;). Happy New Year and hopefully 2019 will allow our paths to cross as we begin our full-time RV adventure after (my) Phil retires! :)

    My wife and I are about to embark on our own journey, we’re selling up and hitting the road full time. Of all of the things in the top 10 list, I’m only worried about the electricity and I wondered if there’s anything you know about to fix this issue? I don’t want to worry about this too much as I don’t know much about sharing amps and I don’t want to destroy anything electrical. I do know to get a surge protector though. Your channel is cool and I appreciate your help.

    • @todayissomeday
      @todayissomeday  5 лет назад +1

      If you have hookups this isnt an issue at all. I recommend full hookups until you learn your rig and all the systems. If you are boondocking you just have to watch your monitors so you know when to turn on the generator. How often that you will need the generator and how long it will need to run while boondocking will depend on your usage and your type/amount of batteries. I can not do the amp math but I have learned what appliances will surge when turned on and kill the batterires (coffee pot & microwave), what will drain the batteries quick (hair dryer), and what just cant happen on batteries alone (running ACs or multiple large draw appliances together).
      You will learn your RV and how to boondock if that is something you want to do. Good luck with full time life. I hope you love it.

      Electricity is simple to fix. Stay where there are hookups! Also, there are many campgrounds with hookups around the country that charge nothing. To find them all you have to do is search Google for Free campgrounds. Been using them for years. Also, try Passport America...this club is cheap to join, has a lot of campgrounds and you pay half of the regular price when you stay in their parks. Good luck.

    #6 Making the bed TIP: Use a large wooden spoon or a smooth hard plastic spatula to tackle the most difficult corners.
    Question: As a camp host or full timer, would a toy hauler be a plus for tools, equip., golf cart, bikes, etc. rather than keeping all the square footage dedicate to interior living?
    I just watched your tour of the Momentum 376 with the toy hauler garage feature under the masterbed. Does that allow gas fumes into the living space?

    • @todayissomeday
      @todayissomeday  4 года назад +1

      There are pros and cons for a toy hauler. With regular toy haulers you give up living space for toy space. The 376 is one of the few that does not take living space from you. As far as what I have been told by Wheelin with the Wendes fumes are not an issue in the bedroom. He had a motorcycle in the toy box and never had a problem. Ultimately, it boils down to personal preference. They 376 is way to long for us so it would not be consideration and we prefer more living space than storage space.

    I don't think anyone is going to full time RV unless they love camping and camp a lot to consider it full time. They should and would know everything you mentioned. We plan on full timing in 5 years when the house is paid off. We started in a tent with a baby, then bought a travel trailer and then bought a 33' motorhome. We don't tent it any longer but take either the motorhome or trailer depending where we go.

      You might be surprised to know Phil and I have not camped once since we have been married. We did camp as kids but it was tent camping.

    NAB Coronado, ACU-1.
    Wife and I have been full timing since August 3rd 2017, 47 states so far, Hail storm June 14th outside fountain Co. totaled our airstream and did 20k damage to tow vehicle, still going strong in a new airstream (thanks Geico) totally agree with your list, My wife found beddys bedding and finds it much easier to make the bed.
    I find doing maintenance and repairs in approved areas difficult so we are looking for a location in Florida to serve as our home port, I don’t need all toys/tools all the time but like to have access depending on the mission,
    Diving, kayaking, fishing, bicycling, hiking or riding the Harley.
