I've got three easter eggers I bought for some unknown reason. Chick craze I recon. They were so cute. lol
Anyhow glad to have em, they're good girls. Body types are the same but colors are completely different on all them. White ear lobes from a Cream Legbar but the other side of them, who knows?
Different eggs too. One lays a light green, one lays a light olive and the other lays a pretty blue egg with a cool matte finish. The blue egger skips a day here and there. The other two are pretty solid dropping eggs daily.
Got a couple of Copper Marans boys but my Lavender Ameraucanas are a ways from laying yet.

Chicken craze gets us every time! I bet the Lavender Ameraucanas and Marans will be gorgeous crossed and give beautiful Olive eggs. Several people around here breed the Lavender with Black and have splits. I will say, the Easter Eggers we first had were excellent foragers and hardy.

Marans is pronounced with the "s" sound whether speaking of one or many Marans. 😊

Wow! I had no clue! I thought Marans was technically pronounced “ma-honh” as in the French city of origin for the chicken breed but I say “ma-rans” because I’m so southern. We’ve always heard it called “ma-rans” in this area. Learn something new every day!

I’m not sure. I believe it would work, but genetics get crazy with these colored egg laying chickens! 🤣

I have 2 easter eggers and 2 olive eggers in hopes of getting blue and green eggs and I also have 3 barred rock. All but 1 lay brown eggs in different shades. That 1 lays green eggs. Kind of disappointing. There are no guarantees, but I do love all my chickens. Oh, and I have no idea who is laying which color/ shade . Are you able to keep up with yours?

We understand! It took us several years to get these eggs from our flock. Lots of trial and error! We have each group separated so that we know who lays what, and we have hatched every chicken that we currently have so we know exactly who is what. We never bought from a hatchery, only local breeders for the Marans and Ameraucanas, then we were able to hatch Olive Eggers this year from those.

@Lucy-ji5wx I don’t know about that lol! Just lots of practice, failures, and patience. You’ll get a system going after a while… Thank you!!
