  • Quick review of the Condor H2O Pouch and the loadout of my H2O pouch survival kit. The Condor H2O Pouch makes a great survival kit or emergency kit. Its also great as an add on to your existing bug out bag or EDC kit. I bought this pouch over 7 years ago to use on my then every day carry bag and its still holding up great today!

    I love that you included the Sawyer water filter. IMHO Water filters are one of the most important pieces of gear I would want in a survival situation because it quickly and efficiently makes water safe to drink without the need to boil water. In a survival situation, you may not have the time, energy, or conditions (e.g. rain, lack of fuel, being injured, etc.) to allow you to effectively boil water. That said, the Sawyer works best not as a straw but when used with its included pouch or Smart water bottle which screws onto the tip of the Sawyer so you can squeeze water through the filter. If you have the Smart water bottle attached to the Sawyer, you can drink as you filter with the Sawyer attached to the bottle. Using a plastic water bottle can also save weight.
    This is the system many long distance hikers use; they have learned to travel hundreds of miles through the wilderness with just what’s on their back! Another filter option to consider is the Katadyn BeFree Water filter which has an integrated water pouch. This is the current favorite wilderness water filter system.

    Condor makes a great H2O pouch.
    A couple of molle pouches added onto the sides, and it makes a great kit. One with food and the other with shelter and fire, and your good to go.
    That way you don’t have to keep anything in the bottle except water.

      I’ve owned quite a few Condor products and all of them have held up great. As for adding more onto it, if I’m going to do that, I may as well just carry a separate bag. I wanted to keep this kinda minimal and slim-lined! Thanks for watching!

      Trash bags have so many uses. These are quite thin but they were the only ones I could fold down to fit in there. Thanks for watching!

    Good stuff! My only quibble is that I like to keep water in my water bottle. If you live in an area that has plenty of water I suppose you can always empty the contents into one of the garbage bags but since water is so critical for survival it makes sense to start your outing with the bottle already filled.

    • @NEP_Chris
      @NEP_Chris  3 года назад +1

      I have a lot of available water sources around me. If I kept the bottle full, I’d loose the real estate I need for other valuable items. I intend to dip those items into another bag or my pockets and fill up the bottle on the fly. I generally always have a bottle of water with me as well.

    Nicely done and like you said if that’s all you had it’s better than nothing. At the end of the day those products would help save your life in an emergency/survival and live to see another day.👍🍻

    I’ve made similar kits in the past, but I always put an additional Walmart cup upside down on top of the bottle so I now have 2 cups and I got lids off Amazon so 2 cups two lids

    Nice job. I carry flavor packets and coffee for water also. Even a cold coffee is better than none when you need a perk. Cold coffee is actually a thing that people make now purposely. I like hot coffee normally but I can do cold coffee also from instant in my kit lol.

    Love this concept, I would swap a few thing (1) I would use bankline or microcord since you get a way higher length of cordage for size (2) I would look in to the free triple a lights from olight or thrunite that you only pay shipping on, its a way more quality flashlight for a few bucks more and a lot more output. And (3) a multitool with a good saw like leatherman, gerber, sog, or victorinox. Other than that killer video

    • @NEP_Chris
      @NEP_Chris  3 года назад +2

      Thanks! This was just a “putting it together for fun” kinda video. This is all just stuff I had on hand. I’ll have to look into the Olight flashlights. I like those Rayovac pen lights because they are dirt cheap, take a single AA battery and they are just bright enough for my needs. Did I mention they are dirt cheap? Lol. I have a couple good multitools but the one that I used had been used so any times in about 20 years and it just won’t break. It is the cheapest Chinese dollar store kinda multi tool you’ll ever find and it just works. I’ve had better ones break in a quarter of the time. Lol. Thanks for watching!

      @@NEP_Chris olight doesn't have them free right now but thrunite has them for the price of shipping threw the month of March. I usually make an account or 2 to pick up a few. Thrunites model has a low and a high which I like more than olights single mode of 90 lumens, it helps extend the life of battery's on the low mode
