Hey guys, I’m Rabea. I'm the lead guitarist in Toska, Frog Leap & Dorje where I write music, make songs and have a great time with my mates. I also have my own line of guitars with Chapman Guitars, and I’ve designed numerous products with some really cool companies, such as the Victory Amps VX Kraken. Anyway, i hope you enjoy my videos, thank you for watching!

Walrus Audio is awesome! I already have a Lillian, Julia V2 and my pedalboard is powered by the Phoenix. Thanks for the great review and tutorial on presets. I'm getting this pedal!!
This is actually a huge improvement over the defcon4. The old version was more limited in its EQ abilities as the toggle was for on or off not for boost or cut, and the 3 preset functionality didn't exist in the early version. If you happened to buy a defcon4 before ryan was cancelled, don't fret, Walrus will update the defcon4 to EB-10 specs for $30USD and then pay for shipping it back to you. I hope that was helpful? Cheers.
Noway, is that possible? So they Update the internals to be able to use presets? That would be a game changer ! Although I like the light effects it offers with the LED‘s
@@jimi272 so, what I got back from them in the mail was an EB-10, not my defcon4 enclosure upgraded to EB-10 specs. And I understand that, but I wish I would have known that's what they were doing beforehand. $30 for anyone to get a sexual deviant's name off of a pedal is worth it.
Not really related to the pedal at all but I just wanna say I love Rabae’s. They’re just full of good vibes and you’re personality makes it so chill to just sit back and watch you jam and demo. So thank you and keep it up. Greetings from Pennsylvania, USA
LANSDALE PA CHECKING IN !!
Yes we are well! Thanks for hoping :P
Hi Rabeazle! You're awesome bru!
I wonder why they didn't make the Boost another foot switch?
Great playing mate!
Everything he recommends “You must buy!”
I hope someone can help me out with my question. What is the difference between this pedal and using an Boss GE-7 for tweaking the EQ?
Nicely made, well engineered, but probably too much going on for what is a simple thing - a boost pedal with eq.
Leaving everything flat and unboosted, this pedal sounds better than a Klon KTR as a low gain sweetener, so, there is definitely something to be said about the pre-amp in this pedal as well as its additional functionality. :)
Amazing tones out of this beast of a pedal! I shall be making my way to Andertons to pick one up soon as possible!!
Sounds like a great tool for live situations, like rehearsals and gigs. I'd use the presets differently, though - I'd consider different guitars instead of song sections.
Cool pedal and great demo. Always a pleasure to see you play, man.
Cheers
I have a Defcon 4. Will they be re-housing all of our Defcon 4s in the EB10 enclosures?
That's a damn good question. For those wondering, the EB-10 is a rehoused Defcon4 -- signature model of Ryan Adams. Walrus Audio cut all ties with him.
jzarfos turns out I’ll have to pay walrus $30 to have them rehouse it’s and “upgrade” it
@@julianhyde1645 Damn, I wish I didn't know that. It's a low enough price not to be offensive, but also low enough that they uh... should do it complimentary. It's the risk you take by signing sig artists. I dunno.
jzarfos right? When I originally bought the pedal, I didn’t expect that I’d have to pay extra a few months later if I didn’t want a sexual predator’s name on my board.
it has new features, it’s not just a rehouse.
Awesome why put plugs on the sides. Takes up too much room drop them on top
Why only three patches ?
@Rabea Massaad is that a new signature pick on the banner ? :)
good playing.
I just want a midi-controllable GE7
Your best bet is a Source Audio Programmable EQ pedal. You can save 4 presets and it can do 12 dB of clean boost as well.
@Nick Davidson Yeah, the 200 series all have MIDI. I'd say the only drawback is the larger footprint, but it has more features than the Source Audio pedal.
Question: What's the difference between boosting treble with an EQ such as this and using a "treble booster"?
A "treble booster" refers to a specific type of germanium based circuit. Check out That Pedal Show's video with Josh Scott about "understanding gain pedals" it's amazing. This pedal is an actual eq where the decibel of certain frequencies is a adjusted.
So, question here. If preset one is everything cut 12 dB, and preset 2 is everything boosted 12 dB and preset 3 adds in the further 10 dB global boost is this actually a 34 dB swing? I'd have to turn the third trim pot to maximum in order to try to make the Q less of a spike and more of a bell shape, right? Thanks in advance!
Talking this out here - if you set, for example, treble, to cut 12db on preset one, and boost 12db on present two, and then add the global 10db boost on preset 3, then yes, you'd have a 34db swing - but only 24 of those db would be shaped at whatever the Q of the treble EQ is at, and the remaining 10 db (the global boost) would be theoretically linear (ie. as linear as the global MOSFET boost inherently is - which is pretty linear).
So you're correct that changing the trimmer will let you tune the mids, and thus the overall EQ shape - but only within the 24db swing of the EQ section itself, with the global boost just raising the result 10db linearly.
**edit* Just tested this on my unit, and this ^ seems to be accurate.
@@timlukian6051 not talking out of turn at all, thank you so much for the reply! I just received a defcon4 in the mail and am sending it away to Walrus to update it to EB-10 specs. I play through a Vox AC15C1X and a modded 67 Fender Bassman. The Bassman has the clean normal channel of the AA864 black panel and the dirty bass channel of the tweed 5F6-A/JTM45. I am so glad to hear that what I envisioned by buying this pedal is actually going to work at cutting the Vox and normal channel for cleans and boosting the Vox and bass channel for dirt! You've been very helpful. :)
Okay but what happens if you DON'T set the internal trim pots to the same position?
YES, that was my immediate thought too! 😆
The same as if you divided by 0... instant apocalypse.
@Rabea I'll pull out of YOUR low end !!! Wait what :O :D
Yeah this is for the more cultured guitarist, subtle in many ways but good.
i said it before, this is a super boring pedal that looks super cool. i think this new version looks better than the last though, and presets are nice. could have thrown in an effects loop too maybe?
It's nearly as expensive as a Boss EQ-200 and I'd have thought anyone with a real need for EQ/Boost (over & above what you'd have in an amp or DAW) would be better off with that. The problem is: the EQ-200 looks dorky and this looks boutique. Guitarists are suckers for an industrial look.
Enough of those reviews. Gimme new Toska album goddamit.
Yooooo what which song is that in the beginning of this vid????????
This would probably be bitchin in an effects loop.
I'm sure that depends on the amp, but I love it right into V1 tube of my amps.
For the next Q&A-
What single coil size pick-ups would you recommend in a Tele for a more modern sound?
I know you asked him but you could check out the bare knuckle piledrivers. I thought about buying them for a while, they might be what you're looking for.
Is it possible to use it with no crunch at all clean? Would this sound good with high gain?
Yes to both. You can adjust it for clean or dirty and save the presests, you get three to save
So basically its JHS Clover v1.5?
Where you connect this unit in your signal chain ? Fx loop or in front amp ? Thank you
Tipycally front of the amp!
I tried it in the loop of an Orange Crush 35RT and there it will stay. It runs second in the chain, after a Caline Wine Cellar (pre) and then before any modulation effects. Works fantastic on either clean or dirty channels. It's a luscious parametric and always on! I use the 3 presets for each different guitar though. Plus, it takes seconds to dial in on the fly. Very happy.
'Bea for PM
Who's with me?
If you play at home, don't bother commenting about this "useless, boring pedal". If you play in a band, you wil love it for versatility.
Rabea, you are a cool dude, and I love your channel.... but can you just pick a damn facial hair style and stick with it?
This man is famous due to his talent and hard work. Only a few random strangers on the internet care what his facial hair looks like.
Hey Bea
