Actually a tourbillon is a mechanism that rotates the escapement and balance wheel to combat the effect of gravity on a watch. In all honesty it's pointless in a wristwatch and was really meant for pocket watches.
I would have thought that Jacob & Co pieces value higher than Patek. I don't see where or why the Patek pieces go so high. Now look at what Jacob & Co does. Their pieces are true art and mechanical engineering wonders!

Those watches were _always_ meant to be shown off. Nobody ever bought a Patek Philippe or Rolex just to tell time. The only difference between then and now is, back then, you actually wore the watch around people you wanted to impress. Nowadays, you either lock it away in a safe or exhibit it in a secure display case.
If the original moon watch was able to be auctioned how much would it be ? Imagine wearing that time piece and you look up in the sky at the moon and saying to your self this watch made it all the way up there. That would really bobble your mind .

A Samsung smart watch is infinitely better than any of these, in terms of function. Not to mention looks better as well. If I had any of these, the only good it would do for me is the money I made by selling it
Watch prices sold at charity auctions don't really count. As the price difference between retail and selling price is deductible on taxes. So, some of the bids are just for tax reasons. I'm sure a non-charity auction for some of the watches listed would not be so high. The providence (who originally owned it) does effect the price, but remove that providence and not so valuable.
Obviously, in order to interact with your phone without taking it out of your pocket. You can see the time, weather, texts, emails, notifications-and even who's call you-right there on your wrist. Sadly, none of the watches listed here can do that.
Imagine wasting as much money as any of these watches cost, when you could instead buy a crazy sports car or even a helicopter. Your phone can do a good enough job of telling you the time

My Timex Weekender was manufactured in 2020 and cost a whopping $40. It looks cleaner, simpler and more attractive than all the Pateks and the Rolex.
