Love the chicken salad oriental. It's a chef's salad, covered with chicken... and chow mein noodles. The noodles made it "oriental". God I loved the 80's.
Yeah, the cheese and instant breakfast are two of my all-time favorite jingles. Now if I could just find the 'Butterfinger's better' song, my life would be complete
Yeah, sorry between watching those Sylvania commercials and your comments I was just laughing typing anything I thought was funny. You just do such a good job.
I like how Chevron acted like a wooden platform was some big engineering marvel, while that ad was surrounded by reminders of the 50th anniversary of a genuine engineering marvel. I like, after being told that AmEx can help with the guy's missing medicine, a helicopter appears on screen. I'm sure they can be helpful in that situation, but I doubt they're going to be doing any airlifts. I'm willing to bet the woman in the Sun Light ad hasn't ever been anywhere near the South.
Was that Rita Rudner in the Halmark ad? I saw her about 20 years ago on Cape Cod & it looks like her! Also, Pod People was filmed in Canada. (Thats why all the US flags & Reagan photos, they were trying to look more American!) And... That MIGHT have been Tia in the cheese ad, she was certainly active at that time. Course, its hard to tell with the 80s Big-Hair!
Thanks to Chris Rock I don't think that tossed salad spot would have made it out of the marketing room today. And why did we ever have to convince people to eat cheese?
You'll still see dairy board commercials. I'm pretty sure they're trying to compete against "fake cheese" like Kraft Singles and Velveeta. Of course those are still dairy products, but real cheese is basically 100% milk, so I'm sure it makes them more money.
8:15 "Wooden platforms above power lines...they were developed and put there by a lot of people..." Exactly how many people did it take to "develop" boards bolted to a utility pole?
Mc Donald's Salads...what a crock! HAHAHA They tried to be "healthy", but it was a lost cause. I remember when they had a salad & chicken Mc Nugget combo promo...the calories from the nuggets basically cancelled out the salad, and this was before the whole "made with white meat" switch up. hehehe
If that eagle landing on the power lines commercial appeared today, I can practically guarantee that the bird gets fried. Television and media are begetting more and more assholes each day.

I always loved the way the Crave packages looked. Simple and cute at the same time.
Crave? Be Smart. Don't Start? OMG!!! I'm literally back in time!!! I miss those days.
Carnation Instant Breakfast jingle still in my head after all these years.
Same here.
4:36--Another of my late-80's favorites too. Do they still make that stuff?
Man do I love those glorious cheese ads, songs are so catchy.
Yeah, the cheese and instant breakfast are two of my all-time favorite jingles. Now if I could just find the 'Butterfinger's better' song, my life would be complete

That Sylvania ad is genuinely unsettling.
Chocolate and Chocolate Malt. They're two different flavors.
hehehe i remember that instant breakfast. love these videos
I think The Jets convinced me TO drink, especially after hearing jems like "You Got It All". Oh, you gotta love it.....
I met that sylviana lightbulb guy/entity when I ate 10 grams of mushrooms last summer. We talked for hours
good times
That cheese ad is amazing. And 80s salad rock!
Jump to 6:18 for nightmares.
that Sylvania commercial used to freak me out.
Omigawsh! The "Cheese, Glorious Cheese!" commercial! Thank you! It's been ages since I've seen that one! :)
7:05--One of my favorites from that period too, and based on the song "Food, Glorious Food" from the musical "Oliver!"
The 80s were much better than now!
"Darling"
Comedienne Rita Rudner in the Hallmark ad, using her trademark deadpan delivery.
So Hallmark makes an "I'm sorry my husband's a drunken loser" card? Wow, they really do make a card for everything.
I'm pretty sure the woman in the Hallmark commercial is comedienne Rita Rudner.
haha because people are really going to iron and drink milkshakes at the same time
Sounds like Martin Sheen on that Chevron commercial.

I thought the Hallmark Commercial WAS the PSA about alcoholics..until I saw the end.

That spaghetti looked good
My best guess is the light from the light bulb, but then again I'm not sure either
If it comes in Chocolate TWICE! that's 3 flavors!?!
Am I hearing things, or was the lady in the Sun Light commercial named Dawn?! LOL
I heard that too. A subtle dig no doubt. What would today be known as "throwing shade."
4:21--Funny, I didn't think anything of that until I saw this comment--but Dawn is also a brand of dishwashing soap!
Macdonals will toss your salad.
I wonder if there are more of these collections from different states and cities
@jakobluke The annimation is hilarious!
@acetrain81 The apocalyptic meteor shower will give us fireworks. lol

Tia Carrere (Wayne's World) at the end of No.17 Cheese commercial.
It does look like her, but a bit hard to tell with all that hair crowding the frame.
3:53 "and her pootle"
That was the longest commercial break ever
I believe most of these volumes compile all of the commercial breaks from one or two TV episodes. It's not all one long commercial break!
LOL! I agree.
Sorta reminds me of the aliens from Cocoon.
@80sCommercialVault Light incarnate, lol.
It is the fast food way.
why not specifically 80's commercials?
But as well as clothes that look neon :P
Also, I can attest that the salads McDonald's made back in the 80's were really good. Unlike the garbage they try passing off today as a "salad".
2:03 and 3:05--Two very different takes on the iconic 1980's McDonald's jingle.
Giblet
What the hell is it supposed to be? I don't understand!
that hallmark commercial was kind of messed up
If that eagle landing on the power lines commercial appeared today, I can practically guarantee that the bird gets fried. Television and media are begetting more and more assholes each day.
Either that or she's thinking he's an angel of death.
Cocoon?
@acetrain81 probably!
Dang...sex sells cheese. Unnecessary, but effective. :)
Heyyyy, what was wrong with Tom Skerritt?? I LOVED him! You must have been jealous! Lol!! 😉
Sylvania lightbulbs... made by God himself.
The fuck is that ?! 6:19
