I was stationed in Newport back in the 90s while in the Navy. The mansions are definitely worth visiting. A window into a bygone era of Gilded Age opulence . And while they are no longer building these giant monuments to obscene wealth and conspicuous consumption, there is still a lot money up there.
wow, thanks for the great video! I've never seen as much detail of the interiors! Thanks for the flight data too! I appreciate your sharing all this! I actually wish each shot were longer, to have time to take in all the extraordinary detail, but I understand that would make it hours long. Thank you! Great musical choices too!
The whole video was beautiful! I got to ride in a Piper cub, decades ago, so vicariously enjoyed the flight experience here complete with the posh, summery music. As for the mansions, wow! They had to be awfully, extremely rich to afford the upkeep and taxes. As for me, I consider myself fortunate and blessed to own my little 2 storey "arts and crafts" style house. This is my "mansion". I'm glad all these gorgeous mansions are considered treasures to be being taken care of for people to enjoy visiting. Respect for the lost art of great architecture and appreciation of beautiful things should be taught to every generation. Thank you for sharing this video. It was well-done.
My Son won the National Sportsmanship award in tennis and the awarded it to him at the International Tennis Hall of fame in Newport, RI. We had a dinner at The Breakers. It was a trip to remember! I love Newport!
That painting of Consuelo just reminds you how idealistic commissioned portraits can be. Not fully representative of the sitter. Her dress was beautiful though. She had exquisite taste.
Cornelius Vanderbilt was married twice, but neither time to Consuelo. I want to say he was her great-grandfather. Consuelo was famously married off to an English lord and was related by marriage to Winston Churchill. It was Consuelo's mama, Alva, who was ignored by proper NY society, led by Mrs. Astor, which is why she built such lavish mansions. Alva had a great deal to do with the design of The Breakers, for which she does not usually receive credit.
What would it cost to build something like this today? All the wood carvers, stone masons, draperies, etc. Realistically. Are we talking 100 million plus?
Thanks for a preview for my second visit to the Mansions since 1979, I retired since my college days, and now have time to retrace my past visits...great video...what camera did u use for the video?
How the owners of these mansions would blanche to see the unwashed masses parading through their private quarters. Walking through the gardens that were created for the privileged and the privileged alone. The descendants of the servants that used to work fifteen hours a day for the privilege of serving those privileged. Here they come!
The most beautiful claw foot stand alone tub ever yes Jeff's wife still wants to be filthy stinking aristocratically rich and yes I'd throw money in that tub and flail happily in it 😍😍😍😍😍🥂🍾🍸
And after all that $ not one took a penny with them and most of there family blew thru it in a few decades and an early grave. Now they are just there to slap you across the face and show you just how poor you really are.
I'm sorry I'm Jeff's wife and screw socialism I'd lllloooovvvve to be that filthy rich I'd never have to worry about not having enough room to put family and friends wow 😀
I sometimes wonder if these people had more money than brains but I guess they had to prove how much money they actually had. And to think these were just their summer vacation cottages.
Great video. Enjoyed the music too. Thanks 😊

This is just an INCREDIBLE MANSION!!!! The 'OPULENCE,' it's just BREATH TAKING!!!!!
Outstanding video. The landing at the beginning was an especially nice touch! Thanks!
An awesome video, great background music. I love Newport, it's so much fun. Mansions & Tennis HOF are my favorites. Well done!! 👍👍
I love the Rosecliff...reminds me of growing up with a cottage to just have parties I was not invited to! :p

Those houses were amazing, especially the Breakers. That one reminded me of some of the Romanov palaces in Russia. Just absolutely breathtaking!

The immense wealth of these families is mind blowing. 🤯🤯🤯💰💰💰
AMAZING. 👑
Me encanta Este lugar 😊
This was well filmed great panning of the camera and actually took us out into a number of rooms - thank you I really enjoyed this one.
i guess I am pretty off topic but does anyone know a good site to watch newly released series online?
Thank you for sharing. This is a wish on my bucket list!
Glad you enjoyed it. Its worth to see how the other half lived(s)...
Very nicely done. Majestic homes and majestic music choices. And Herb Alpert never gets old.
Thanks for a great video and one of the greatest songs of all time, Herb Alpert's Route 101.

So much history love the mansions so unique every detail must of been good being rich in those days
Thanks for posting, a very well done video.

Excellent video! Thank you!!
Enjoyed your video. Thank you.
Perfect song!!!!!!
Tastefully done.
Very nicely done, but the last I.age is not Consuelo Vanderbilt. It is Elizabeth Drexel Lehr (Mrs. Harry Lehr).
Thank you for virtual tour. Far preferable to enduring crowds and suffocating interiors in person.
Anyone heard of the 'Hopewell' estate ? Said to front Narragansett Bay near Newport.
Well done- planning on a visit next year!
I've read that when Conseullo first married Cornelius, that she would throw "LAVISH PARTIES", and the women that attended would TOTALLY IGNORE HER!!!!

Good video.
All that stained glass🤗🤗
Scrub forward to 2:38 for the mansions “tour”....you’re welcome!
That last portrait was not Consuelo Vanderbilt.

Good video, need to do 1 of today's billionaire houses. Also, I think you should give credit to the older oriental lady that was in most of the shots.

A Marvel.
Sadley Newport and s a ghost town right now I live in Newport and have never ever seen it like this hope it will end soon 😭😭😭😭
Hurray for Buchaneer Consuelo, her grace, the Duchess of Marlborough.

The summum
More beautiful than the Downton Abbey mansion.
Nice video but what I really noticed was that horrid music.
All this is sadness
And after all that $ not one took a penny with them and most of there family blew thru it in a few decades and an early grave. Now they are just there to slap you across the face and show you just how poor you really are.
Those houses were gaudy, money to throw away. Nothing beautiful maybe the ocean view.
I'm sorry I'm Jeff's wife and screw socialism I'd lllloooovvvve to be that filthy rich I'd never have to worry about not having enough room to put family and friends wow 😀
Nice tour of some incredibly ugly buildings. The interiors are the most hideous, though The Breakers is awful inside and out.
The video was good.THE MUSIC SUCKED

Don DiFonso Right?! To throw a party for a monkey, letting an elephant in your house? Just wow
Obnoxious music
