Awesome video. I'm from Regina Canada but visited the Rainbow for dinner in 2012. BEST experience ever. When the owner/manager??? found out we were from Canada he came over and introduced himself...he was maybe in his late 50's and had dark curly hair. He made my buddy and I feel like V I P's. I will never forget that night THANKS for this video.
As someone who was totally into metal back in the 80s and 90s this was such an amazing throwback, and all of those skate decks too. Just so freaking cool to have a look back there.
Thank you Kurt - this was fantastic. I was always curious about what the inside would like ! I think I heard that Prince dis a show/ after party there. What a cool venue for that - it must have been awesome. Shout out to Big Dave for allowing us all in with you !
Do any of you remember DARK ANGEL? They are a Metal Band that started around the same time as Metallica, Slayer and Mega Death in South Gate/Downey. CA and they also played at the Whiskey. One of the founders of Dark Angel was Jim Durkin, he was my next door neighbor and a good friend growing up in the 80's. Sadly he passed away earlier this year.
Well I'm sure we've crossed paths then, I lived on both N Laurel and Larrabee between 2001-2003 when I was 21. Put many drunken and sober miles on that strip, knew everyone at the Rainbow, partied nonstop in the hills, and always made time for my ladies at the Hustler store. Great memories bud glad you did this video
What a great video. I bet the concert booker job was fun and interesting. My old boyfriend's sister used to work at the Ivanhoe Theater in Chicago back in the 70's and we got to go to lots of plays for free. The building looked like a castle, and it was beautiful. Now it's a liquor store, so sad to me. I would love to go to the Rainbow. I love that style of dining. The ambiance is perfect! Very cool memorabilia on the wall at the Whiskey! The Easy Bake Oven lol. I had one when I was small back when the light bulb burned your hand trying to get the cake out. 😂Love the old ticket stub probably from Ticketmaster, which was called Tcketron when I was a teenager. This video was so interesting. Looking forward to part 2! Thank you!!
This is a great video Kurt as they all are. Not sure if you're aware of this but there is an 80s bar in Fullerton. Did you know about this place? You should do a video on this place. They get some pretty good bands that roll through their check on their website.
Okay this is the equivalent of seeing 3 major movie stars in my book. If Jordan the Lion and Scott Michaels had been with you, I don't think I could have taken it. 👍👍
Yup, I remember my parents going out to the strip back in '69. Left me and my brother in the car while they were @ the whiskey, Roxy, rainbow, gazzaris; now considered child abuse, we didn't care, hell, nobody wore seat belts back then. Later my brother and I saw the US debut of the stray cats @ the rainbow. Even helped deliver musical equipment to the troubadour. Good times. Whiskey, the real don steel, laugh in, 93khj, the beach bus from van Nuys blvd, wonderland drive, racing mullholland, cruising VN Blvd every Wed night. No parental supervision, no problem. Now? Fugetaboutit.
What a team! Legends.

The whole brigade.
Screw the 80’s. Give us some stories about the 60’s man!!!
lol I don’t think anyone in this video was even alive in the 60s. That had to be an awesome time at the Go Go though.
Kurt. Does Scott remind you of Chuck Mosely the original singer for Faith No More!? Or is it just me.
I think he looks more like a young Brad Pitt
@@SCOTTONTAPE lol Yup. Total doppelgänger, Scott. 😎
that style of that building is definitely 80´s
