People underestimate how toxic and traumatic horrible roommates can be. its been five years since I moved from my last place and i literally still have nightmares.

Honestly. The person I lived with my first year at college was so toxic and awful that 15 years later I still occasionally get mad about it
Honestly. It makes home a shit place to be and that really shouldn’t be the case. Home should be a haven and having manipulative dusty people ruin that is the worst.
Bruh, I moved in with my best friend of 9 years. Dudebro said I was jaded after I took a video of the whole house which had been trashed by him, dutch guts & wrappers, plates strewn across all the tops of stuff. And when I sent the video asking him to please clean after himself since he expected to be cleaned after.... and the message I got back was something like, "Oh, well the other roomates and I have been talking and you need to move out" xD Some people just want to live in a mess and blame others for their mishandling of things.
Some say he still lives in the heap of trash he made and yells from his tower words of nonsense to deflect from his own setbacks.....
At least I don't live there anymore, the place was so bad thaat the plumbing was fully broken and we had to drain the tub and sink by bucketting the water into the yard or toilet. Pretty sure I have a bacterial infection from that place. O.o

I still have some minor ptsd from an old roommate/friend/life-ruiner who was abusive on all spectrums to me. The notion that your only safe place is your bedroom and you literally feel trapped inside there. It happens a lot more than people think.
The fact that you still managed to be so creative and push out such high quality vids during your time there is crazy to me, honestly can’t wait to see your glow up now that your free😩

The worst roommate I ever had BEGGED me to move in with her and I did. It was my first apartment. She got knocked up at a Halloween party we threw and tried to convince her EX it was his and he came over to our place in a violent rage beating our door down when he found out she lied. We were hiding on the floor and I was literally terrified and she was laughing about it. Then she straight up LEFT me to fend for myself after I was locked into the lease. She was used to her parents bailing her out so she was perfectly fine breaking it because they would pay for her but my ass was gonna be responsible for half of the penalty. Her parents ended up furnishing and remodeling their basement for her and I luckily found someone to take her place but she then proceeded to torment me for months wanting her half of the deposit back while the apartment people dicked me around the entire time and she was blaming me for it accusing me of trying to keep it for myself. I didn't know any better then but I wish I had taken her ass to Judge Judy. Fuck her.

That shit is why i rather live on my own. I'm trying to get out of my mom's place (long story that) and I don't want to live with anyone else, even my best friend who's trying to get out of their own parents from hell situation.

A few years ago I moved In with a friend who caused me nightmares, wouldn’t let me see other people in or outside of the house without guilt tripping me til I didn’t want to do anything, and at one point she literally locked my cat in her room because I didn’t wash her dishes. I ended up meeting my fiancé because I lived there at the ‘right time’ but I would never go back or wish that on anyone

"Things have been going suspiciously well" is a mood. I'm glad you were able to get out of this toxic situation and are making steps towards recovery. I hope this doesn't happen to you again. Toxic roommates are very awful and during a pandemic, I'm sure that didn't make it easier
ooo off rip that sounds like an ex I had.. I would make issues known, they were always the same reoccurring issues because this person did absolutely NOTHING to fix them. They'd apologize and say they'd do better ( never happened). That devolved into them wanting me to adjust how I brought up these issues i.e, tell them the moment it happens (did that, nothing changed), give them time to fix the issue (gave them months, nothing changed), remind them instead of giving them time so that they didn't forget (nothing changed), until they finally decided to start bringing up things I did while I would be bringing up the same reoccurring issues. This person made me jump through the upmost hoops to accommodate them consistently being inconsiderate of me, and then decided to tit for tat me. Never brought up things that bothered them about me any other time, only when I gave chances, they disappointed me by not following through and we'd have to have /another/ sit down addressing the same issues, did they ever bring up issues they had with me. It was like living in a special hell of our own creation :')
The older I get and the more stories I hear, the more I realize just how toxic and sadly common my past relationship experiences were

I totally get the communication thing; I moved from Georgia to Seattle of all places and the??? Complete lack of communication and just general passive aggressiveness of most folks out here is wild. I'm very blunt about how I feeling and I'm big on trying to get things done as respectfully and thorough as possible but my last few roommates were STAYING being the most hardheaded mfs. Anywaaays, you're doing great things and I'm wishing the best for you bud, you deserve it!
Something about toxic people finding the right ones to mess with 😒 I had a roommate and found out she just used me to get out her parents house. as soon as her new bf came into the picture she no longer “needed” me. If I hadn’t had asked what she wanted to do next (sign another year lease or 6 months) I wouldn’t have known til last min on moving 🙃 so grateful we don’t see each other anymore. Sorry you had to experience this 🥺💖💖💖

Glad to see you back and doing better! I had a roommate that I was friends with for years....it went super bad the first night. I had taken a shower and went to my room and I locked the door, but I guess I didn't shut it completely he busted into my room butt naked and played on my bed and I was like wtf is going on get out! He sat there for a solid minute then left it was my first time living away from home so I was overwhelmed with soo much😭 he was/is the biggest inconsiderate slob. It was 2 years of a nightmare til I said f**k it I'll move back home and that's what I did 😂
