Very interesting, I've always admired pro tour refs because they have a very hard job, being callers and markers at the same time
Can you upload all Highfinishes on the Home Tour.
@@henrik1803 there's too little footage on yt I'm afraid
I would love to hear some stories you’ve had over the years.
Just started watching your videos and this is one of the best so far. Such an interesting video. So impressed by how informative this is and gives a proper honest view of the role - all the best for your darts future mate!
That’s a great video and a really good insight into being a darts referee. Nice one.
Thanx for the video opening up the counting side, I,ve learned a lot and are going to use it in my team as a captain dutch
mate this viideo was awesome not only the how to on being a ref ,but as a CEDL player its learnt me alot of rules that always end up coming up in a situation where either a disagreement or sometimes if its a rare situation just not knowing what would be the rule , sorted eme right out , nice one!!!!!!!
Thanks a lot, was looking for video like this
I've always wondered how they count do fast
Extremely informative and interesting, thanks
I need to memorize my out shots. Scoring ok but flustered on finishing!
I work with numbers and although I agree it is not too difficult the speed of calculation and accuracy makes it very difficult. I have a friend who couldn’t do my job yet scores darts in his local with ease. I am sure a lot of people know someone like that. No rounding up and forgetting to adjust a number for them which was always my issue. As you tell even just within a group of friends I never liked doing it because there is always some old geezer ready to shout out it’s 379 or whatever the number is if you are playing in a pub.
Damn, this was an interesting watch, even more so than I thought it would be... thanks!
Thank you for this upload
Really interesting video. Thanks!
"My hair is different, so don't hate me for that"
😂
Great video! Amazing content here 👌👌
I am the fidget marker. I never realised how hard it is to just stand still until you have to. I have got much better but I am guilty of that. Thanks for the tips!
It’s much more easier now since they use darts connect and we can look on the website and the PDC channel to see their scores on the dartboard and their score.
Very interesting video mate. Cheers
Great vid! Can you tell us how did you get this referee job? Actually how many referees in PDC are being full time hiring? Coz I guess most of the floor games referees are part time jobs...
You should come and try and mark for my mate, she goes for 19s and hits all sorts of weird and wonderful combinations!
Excellent advice
Thanks mate 👊🏼
awesome video found it interesting!! would you ever go back to reffing? for the PDC or like the modus league?
It's easier if you're a young player learning these dart ideals.
it's wasn't about darts math when you came across a curveball, it was about going against what you had memorized.
Great video 👌🏻
Interesting, thanks. How about some words for counting? If I hit 87, I subtract 100 and then add 13. Or how count easily like 20, T19, T16? I add first 48+57=105 then add 20 or the easy number what ever it is? Is there better way?
Interesting video, made me laugh thinking about some of the markers in our pub games....they move more than the players😂 Did you ever do the calling as well or did you just stick to marking?
Ive had a few markers who talk more than the spectators lol
fantastic video
“Nothing worse that running out of pens for a whiteboard”...........Except when you have just used a permanent marker 🤦🏻♂️
oh dear
Is it true that you cant fix a mistake after 3 darts have been thrown.....just watched a different video where they said if you notice a mistake you can fix it anytime
Cool, my maths is bad, I've started turning my app off to learn quicker !
Question for you: I can understand the value of having a person counting, but isn't it just more reliable to use a counting app software or relevant calculators? Just based on margin for error I've always been curious why they don't adopt using tech as the standard?
I would guess the reason is because technology can break, when it does you need refs who can do the job the old fashioned way. They probably feel like if refs get too reliant on tech, they might lose their efficiency doing the old fashioned way
This is one of the most helpful and interesting darts videos you have done. As a former PDC referee who has studied the rule book, perhaps you could tell me the actual dimensions of the raised oche used in PDC matches. I want to set up my dartboard in my basement but I am confused about the width of the raised oche. The rule book says that it must be 24 inches wide but the oche used for PDC matches seems to be about 30 inches wide. I want to set up my board as close to PDC specifications as I can. Also, could you do a video discussing player sponsorship and the dress code for players during matches? Thank you for your help.
I just built a raised oche and basically I just used 2 x 4s layed flat. 36 inches wide which is actually a nice platform. It doesn’t really matter how wide or tall to be honest as long as it’s 7 ft 9 and 1/4 from the bulls. It’s really just somewhere to rest your foot against. I glued some nice carpet to it and it turned out really nice
Tbh how much does it really matter in your basement if it looks nice and serves it’s purpose. You can message me and I’ll send you some pics of mine if you want
Great vid thanks....
Maffs, I love it. Hey from Canada, math. :)
😂😂 Nah we say maffs here
The Darts Referee yes. :)
So who is throwing for the bullseye? The player drawn first or the higher seeded player?
The player drawn first
So wouldn´t that meen that rhe flight has to stay on the dart for it to count (because theoretically it's not a dart)?
Someone else said that, I'm going to look into it!
Ok so for the televised events why do they have markers on stage writing down the scores when there are big digital screen the players can look at?
Cuz the paper is for the referee so they know what score the player has left
Seems a nice job to me
@20:12 Dart must be certain weight, have a shaft and flight, etc. What is the rule if a flight falls off while the dart is in the board?
It's fine it does count, but the wording makes it sound like it doesn't
Very Nice
try counting dart by dart with ricky evans 🤣
Nice helmet
Example of mistake corrected at 7:15 :
ruclips.net/video/QQPMpAdHI1I/видео.html
Very good sportsmanship from RvB, and way to squeeze that 3rd dart 😆 I wonder why he did not tell the ref right away 🤔
The 'point snapping off' comment was an interesting one. Is there a time-limit for a dart having to remain in the board for it to count? Does the dart count if it drops out just before the player recovers it?
Norton1531 the player has the take them out before they fall...sometimes you’ll see players run to the board when a dart looks like it may fall
I was surprised that a broken point in the board does not constitute a score since the embedded point, broken or not, clearly establishes that the complete dart landed there. Great video!
Here's a challenge. Can you hit a score of 26, 26 times in a row? I'm trying to do it today for the London Marathon 2.6 challenge. Have a go, it isn't as easy as it sounds..!
Do u have to use all 3 darts to get 26?
Up to you, but I'm aiming for the classic 5, 20 and 1.
It doesn't sound easy at all!
13,13,miss
Thats not that hard actually
Subbed 🎯
That’s what annoys me I know there is a mistake but I don’t correct it until I go to write the next score and I get pointed out on it and makes you feel stupid even tho you knew what you done
The motto of this video is "Urine control." :P
How much where you paid?
Predicting where people are going to go is all well and good until you play in our local pub league
You're not wrong 😂
I cannot stand when chalkers put anything but the number scored.
Woah woah woah hang on a second, you just threw a massive spanner in the works at the end there. If the flight comes off the dart does it not count?
Dude ! 24 darts is pro level ? Is that around the mark
Cos I've hit a 16 darter, and if I don't finish in 30 darts, I genuinely feel I don't deserve to win
I have dislexia with words and numbers
But I just need to learn 13-20 x2 and x3
Simple
Thanks bro
May you arrow fly true 🙏🏼
I wanted to give you a like but it's at exactly 501
How do you actually get the job?
Great video btw mate 👍
Scorings more stressful than playing 😬
My method is easier..I just play ‘Round the Board’
Why did you stop working as a PDC Referee?
@@louie2450 Do you mean he got dart "board" of it?
@@louie2450 Yes sort of a joke and not a very good one either. I better stick to what I'm good at.
@@louie2450 Thanks very much. It's actually good fun marking darts matches especially if the players are good. I used to mark practice matches for top players in my local leagues and they were of a great standard too and it does help with your maths and calculating things quickly.
Question, with all the technology these days, why not just whack up a heap of iPads? Controversial I know! But...
That's what they do now for pdc events, I way prefer a pen and whiteboard though! It's an art form for me 😂 I'm a proper loser though
Pointless video, there are now tablets... but i do like the writing system more
So whys it pointless then
