    I work with numbers and although I agree it is not too difficult the speed of calculation and accuracy makes it very difficult. I have a friend who couldn’t do my job yet scores darts in his local with ease. I am sure a lot of people know someone like that. No rounding up and forgetting to adjust a number for them which was always my issue. As you tell even just within a group of friends I never liked doing it because there is always some old geezer ready to shout out it’s 379 or whatever the number is if you are playing in a pub.

    Interesting, thanks. How about some words for counting? If I hit 87, I subtract 100 and then add 13. Or how count easily like 20, T19, T16? I add first 48+57=105 then add 20 or the easy number what ever it is? Is there better way?

  • @MDCreate
    @MDCreate 3 года назад +1

    Question for you: I can understand the value of having a person counting, but isn't it just more reliable to use a counting app software or relevant calculators? Just based on margin for error I've always been curious why they don't adopt using tech as the standard?

    • @ribletroblet
      @ribletroblet 2 года назад

      I would guess the reason is because technology can break, when it does you need refs who can do the job the old fashioned way. They probably feel like if refs get too reliant on tech, they might lose their efficiency doing the old fashioned way

    This is one of the most helpful and interesting darts videos you have done. As a former PDC referee who has studied the rule book, perhaps you could tell me the actual dimensions of the raised oche used in PDC matches. I want to set up my dartboard in my basement but I am confused about the width of the raised oche. The rule book says that it must be 24 inches wide but the oche used for PDC matches seems to be about 30 inches wide. I want to set up my board as close to PDC specifications as I can. Also, could you do a video discussing player sponsorship and the dress code for players during matches? Thank you for your help.

    • @gmann212
      @gmann212 2 года назад

      I just built a raised oche and basically I just used 2 x 4s layed flat. 36 inches wide which is actually a nice platform. It doesn’t really matter how wide or tall to be honest as long as it’s 7 ft 9 and 1/4 from the bulls. It’s really just somewhere to rest your foot against. I glued some nice carpet to it and it turned out really nice

    • @gmann212
      @gmann212 2 года назад

      Tbh how much does it really matter in your basement if it looks nice and serves it’s purpose. You can message me and I’ll send you some pics of mine if you want

    The 'point snapping off' comment was an interesting one. Is there a time-limit for a dart having to remain in the board for it to count? Does the dart count if it drops out just before the player recovers it?

    • @EmmaGroundGuide
      @EmmaGroundGuide 4 года назад +2

      Norton1531 the player has the take them out before they fall...sometimes you’ll see players run to the board when a dart looks like it may fall

      I was surprised that a broken point in the board does not constitute a score since the embedded point, broken or not, clearly establishes that the complete dart landed there. Great video!
