Hello ASL Heroes!!! Hey, I could really use your help. If you’ve enjoyed having access to an expert in ASL you can help me continue my work for you. A small monthly donation from you would instantly make a big difference here at the studio because teachers don’t earn much and I could use some help paying for server and domain hosting for Lifeprint.com. Right now you can help out a humble (not to mention kind, caring, generous, compassionate, helpful, friendly, fair, and hard-working) ASL teacher -- just go here and a few clicks later you too will be a true “ASL Hero!” www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=64QMBRBXQSV6G For more donation options, see: Lifeprint.com/donate Thanks! - Dr. Bill
@@darcischulze5138 Oh I wish -- but no, sorry. I'm just an ASL teacher trying to use my time in a productive manner. The amount of time and organizational ability it takes to set up and maintain a 501 (c)(3) non-profit is huge. Bee (my wife) and I actually did set up a non-profit organization once many years ago. If found that it took away from the time I devote to actually building and sharing ASL materials. So we just do this as regular people (with a sole proprietor business license).
I was point man on an escape and evasion exercise. We were trying to sneak across the base without getting caught and travelling as quietly as possible. We came up to a ridge and I spotted several deer on the other side, about 20 m past where we were. I turned back and gave the universal "shhhh" followed by what, I just learned today was the correct ASL sign for deer!
Thank you sooo much for the animal signs!!! I really appreciate these as they can help me with my own YT page when I start adding ASL into my instruction videos!!!
Hi Dr. Bill. With the sign you showed for every year, could you use that with your index finger pointing backwards to indicate something that you did every year in the past, like maybe when you were a kid? Thanks in advance!
That's a clever idea but it is not common. Maybe someday such an approach might catch on and spread but the normal way to discuss that would be to sign PAST-[back-when / used to be] IX-me YOUNG every-YEAR SUMMER MY FAMILY GO CAMP ("back when I was young every year in the summer my family went camping." ) Again, seriously, I like your thought process on that even though the answer is no (or at least not so far).
The signs do overlap. However, context usually makes your meaning obvious. For example, million tends to have a number before it. Interestingly, we are seeing language evolution in the sign for "million." Lately it has become very common to sign "million" by circling an "M" (sort of like a palm-down version of "Monday.")
