I feel very protective about her, even though I'm younger than her! I can't imagine how Francis must feel, she's so delicate. Glad she's brilliant, in fact she's my favorite director
I think she’s actually pretty grounded. She likes vibes and atmospheres. I think her strength is sensory/design based as a filmmaker, not necessarily this raw, emotional fragility I pick up on in other artists. Bill Murray also mentioned how driven she is to see a project through.
Because she deserves it. She love to her herself talking. Her teeth are crazy but she thinks she's the most desired woman who never fails. Her bodylanguage is absolutly bad 😖😖😖 without her father she would work in a dinner lol 🙄😒
Loved this film on so many levels. Sofia is so cool, calm, collected, and inspiring. To me this film is about what is truly meaningful and fulfilling in life... :)
SOFIA still amazing and so beautifully grounded, which makes you totally and my personal opinion an amazing woman and definitely my favorite directer/actress.
To work with Sofia Coppola would be the greatest thing EVER :)

Watched it last night after re watching Lost In Translation and really liked it too. I didn't know it was hers until the credits started rolling. I like how her movies are about people and reality. All done very subtle.
wow, I just finished watching Lost in Translation and Scarlet Johansson acks a lot like her. I wonder if that was something intended, or Scarlet just did.
On the contrary, I think Lost in Translation has depth and I can certainly watch it over and over again, I think its one of the best films of the last 15 years.
Good afternoon, aankju maach for your film, it's very interesting and important for me video film. Lord 🙏 God bless you, Ms Sophie Coppola. Thanks 👍 you for your films,i watched your film lost on transaction and die in the family, very shocking video film. Have a nice day 💓, Ms Sophie Coppola, bye.
Yes! Agreed! I think people need to watch Somewhere a second time in order to comprehend the film; the film is a story of Existential crisis and ennui of the actor.
I still haven't seen 'Suicide Virgins' and I caught myself yawning during 'Marie Antoinette', even though I have a thing for Kirsten; but I've watched 'Lost...' and 'Somewhere' multiple times. I'm not good at analyzing and articulating why I like a movie. I like it or I don't, period. However, I think that Sophia's niche is small and intimate relationships, at least those are the films by her that I've enjoyed.
Che (2008) directed by Steven Soderbergh - which was split into two movies. Carlos (2010) directed By Olivier Assayas - which was split into a three episode mini-series. Mildred Pierce (2011) directed by Todd Haynes, which was a five episode mini-series.
I know, it's ashame. I think it was a combination of a lot of things...that the main story seemed to centre around her character's love story, that her character was under-developed, that she was a decendant of Francis Ford; and therefore her name would over-shadow her performance and role. It's unfair that the blame her primarily for the disappointment of the picture, but that's how these things go. She's now done very well for herself however, and carved a path all her own :)
Well, Chris the flower, I trust your opinion. Any person who can incorrectly use the word "your" instead of "you're" 4 times in a row is clearly a genius OWNED> But I want to ask you a question, and be honest with me here: are you a 12-year old? OWNED> Anyway, what am I in a corner about? That I never saw this film? CAUGHT ME> OWNED
Somewhere, there's a place for us, somewhere, for nepotism babies like us, somewhere, there's a place for us, where the burden of privilege won't weigh down nepotism babies, somewhere, somewhere!
??? Wow, someone's butthurt. She's a director who makes films - films are meant to be critiqued. Her entire career is based on criticism. I think you need to relax. If you're going to worship someone like a deity, at least make sure they've actually done something to earn that reverence.
If this movie causes people to be as full of rage as you are then I'm glad i haven't seen it. Or maybe it's just the bath salts. Anyway, speaking of good songs, have you heard the one about "deez nuts?" P.S., if you could refrain from calling me a "dumb ass" that would be great, it really hurts my feelings.
She's actually pretty well known - as well known as a director can be. And she is a critical darling for the most part. Lost in Translation, for example, while being very beautiful and artsy lacked the depth needed to make it a film you can watch over and over again. However, I think Coppola is very skilled in being able to tell stories in pictures. Unfortunately, she lacks the ability to drive a narrative throughout the film and engross you in the characters.
The samurai knew that the world sucks and that to attain peace one must meditate upon death... Just watch Ghost Dog: Way of the Samurai... The master is a moron and he's a master because he's Italian. The black assassin is the true enlightened one and yet nobody knows his name!
Honestly, I find her overrated. The only film I only liked from her was Virgin Suicides. It seems like while she has some skills as a director, she lacks others, which makes for a mediocre, sometimes worse film.
I feel very protective about her, even though I'm younger than her! I can't imagine how Francis must feel, she's so delicate. Glad she's brilliant, in fact she's my favorite director
Oui

I don't understand people who criticize so violently sofia ... she's so talented and her universe is so poetic & dreamy !
Because she deserves it. She love to her herself talking. Her teeth are crazy but she thinks she's the most desired woman who never fails. Her bodylanguage is absolutly bad 😖😖😖 without her father she would work in a dinner lol 🙄😒
She is untalented. It's nepotisim. She's a man hating feminist all her films are anti men. She has a potato on her shoulder.
sofia has incredible taste. so elegant, understated and effortless
Absolutely love Somewhere, it has a special place in my heart.
Thanks for another great interview! No one else does it like you guys.
Loved this film on so many levels. Sofia is so cool, calm, collected, and inspiring. To me this film is about what is truly meaningful and fulfilling in life... :)
She is one of my fave directors! So is her dad. Amazing woman!
There goes my Hero, watch her as she goes...
SOFIA still amazing and so beautifully grounded, which makes you totally and my personal opinion an amazing woman and definitely my favorite directer/actress.
Sofia Coppola is everything I've ever wanted in a director. Every word that comes out her mouth is pure genius.
To work with Sofia Coppola would be the greatest thing EVER :)

I adore her and her family
she so sweet. its admirable she sticks to her ways of making movies.
so laid back, beautiful and brilliant
Love Sofia Coppola; she's so underrated. I can't wait for her next feature film, "The Bling Ring" with Emma Watson to be released next year :)
My favourite director and writer. I literally got started screenwriting because of Lost in Translation. I love that she is still humble.
Do you still write ?
"Somewhere" is her absolute masterpiece.
What a nice person, love her movies.

the ending left me wanted for more sympathized with the main character and ellen did a great performance , reminded me of a niece ^^
She has like a warm fragile sensibility
LOVED IT.
Very enjoyable interview
Thumbs up to the Coppola family

?? not sure what language you're speaking?
You come to that conclusion by talking to one person on RUclips?
Doubt it.
I just want to hold her & kiss her!!!
Well, you obviously do.
I disagree.
fair enough but you'd be in the minority.
Not creepy at all.
Honestly, I find her overrated. The only film I only liked from her was Virgin Suicides. It seems like while she has some skills as a director, she lacks others, which makes for a mediocre, sometimes worse film.
Same
She should make a movie about people who have absolutely no talent with powerful connections in the film industry
why does she always look constipated ????????????
It's the burden of privilege which constantly weighs on this nepotism baby. Makes her look constipated.
💯
Terrible actress, even worse director.
More like overrated.
Boy she jabbers. She got lucky with Bill Murray and is otherwise overrated.
