    Star Trek ended with Enterprise. Thank god i have my physical media. Today's star crap is like New Coke. That went over good. Now Dr.Who is being destroyed. 🙄

      To me Dismal Studios Star Wars is an entirely different timeline with the books being canon. Modern entertainment in general has become crap.

    The professional Hackery-class see space ships, blinking lights and uniforms. They don’t see the forest for the trees. The key is good storytelling, not cgi robots.

    Losing Star Trek doesn't hurt anymore. I have all the real Trek on physical media. I hope what they've done to the Doctor stops hurting at some point. Great video. You're really hitting it out of the park!

    The only way to save Srar Trek is to make a series of movies based on the Shatnerverse books. Anything else is a waste of potential. Get rid of Abrams.

    I remember seeing all the OG Trek films at the pictures. See, you can tell how old I am by that sentance. I remember coming out of the Wrath of Khan stunned. But new Trek has their phasers set to kill, not stun. Trek is dead to me. Who is dead to me. Star Wars is dead to me. Just waiting for them to kill my favourite franchise TRON now. Then their job will be complete. Thank God I'm an old f***er and have plenty of DVD's of the above when they were great, thought provoking & entertaining. I just want good old Space Opera back, is it too much to ask??????!!!!

    I am convinced that it is not coincidence that Star Trek, Star Wars and Doctor Who were all killed, but a coordinated effort. But a coordinated effort by who? Well... Let me just say that ruining Star Trek, Star Wars, and Doctor Who simultaneously, makes me believe in conspiracy theories.

    1st off … 😂 the writing 👏
    - now then.
    I keep thinking about the last time, as you said; Let the age of dredging up the past for the MEMES, begin.
    Didn’t they mock the old horror and science fiction into oblivion during the fifties? Frankenstein’s Sister In-law, or some such?
    Doesn’t that mean that the renaissance will come from a Spaghetti Sci-Fi 😅?

    They can’t take away what we have, and we don’t have to embrace the garbage they give us that they call Star Trek. It’s just sad because there are people that understand the Star Trek universe.

    Years ago, in an online argument with another Trek fan, the conclusion of that debate was his assertion that "bad Star Trek is better than no star trek". Now, he said that right after Star Trek 2009 came out. I didn't agree with him then, and I don't agree with him now (in fact, I feel rather justified in whatever opinions I said that day, given what has happened since). I wonder if that guy still feels the same way after all these years.

    Hmmm. The first reboot film had promise but this doesn’t even whelm me.
    The last series of Picard was ok and I quite like SNW, (honestly Pike, No 1 and Spock are actually likeable) but considering that’s it for me since “Enterprise”, it’s not a great record.

    In Star Trek: The Motion Picture, Bones was telling Kirk that he needs to retire. In Star Trek 2, Bones was telling Kirk to command a star ship. MAKE UP YOUR MIND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • @CuteLesbo69
      @CuteLesbo69 26 дней назад

      McCoy did not tell Kirk to retire in the Motion Picture, he berated him because he used his position to force Nogura into giving him command again. The only reference to being "retired" was when McCoy was talking about, "In other words Admiral, they drafted me."

    Someone must hate this subject. The video stopped for no reason whatsoever, while you could play others simultaneously. Had to manually jump a little to proceed. With that out of the way, they do like to repeatedly pour sulfur into your gaping and bleeding wounds. This is why it is so fun to play a domesticated Fedulan in Star Trek Online. Because Jar Jar made sure to blow up any chance of getting in the shoes of Imperial Romulans. Imperial is not Woke enough, you see. To not have fun, that is very Woke indeed!

  • @clipper99
    @clipper99 28 дней назад

    This video is so full of itself, it’s probably got its own gravitational field. I too am well and truly old enough to remember all the OG Star Trek movies and with the exception of Khan, looking back on them now it’s painful to watch. Poorly acted and often poorly written. I’m sorry if old traditionalists don’t like the new stuff, but I would rather watch the first Abrams Star Trek movie over the first OG trek movie. Heh, who wouldn’t? My point is, it’s all good. If you don’t like it, don’t go see it, but this waxing on about hugely talented people not having the capacity to embrace the Trek subtleties and nuances is insulting to myself and them.
    I will end on a positive note and say thank you for the real narration. The AI voiceovers on RUclips is an instant “NEXT” for me. :)

    • @CaptainPositron
      @CaptainPositron 28 дней назад +6

      Abrams trek (as well as the rest of nuTrek) is highly derivative. Even if the original movies were "badly acted" or "badly written", at least they brought something of their own to the table. The Abram's trek movies were essentially 3 rehashes of the Wrath of Kahn: an crazy/evil guy shows up with a superweapon and it's up to Kirk and crew to stop him. And the nuTrek shows are riddled with scenes and ideas overtly ripped from past movies and/or TV shows. It's also sad that for as "new" as contemporary "trek" is, it seems to be stuck in the past. It's all reboots and prequels relying exclusively on nostalgia to grab an audience. Personally, I would rather watch the motion picture than the first Abrams entry and I'm sure I'm not alone.

    • @toddfraser3353
      @toddfraser3353 27 дней назад +1

      I remember running into an older Trekie who is probably my age now, back in the mid 1990s during TNG peak. Complaining how TNG was so inferior to the original, where the crew was so peaceful and unwilling to do anything that it seemed to had insulted him greatly.
      Most stories that are portrait are derivations of previous stories that had inspired the author. Tracing back thousands of years into the past. And trying to hit the sweet spot where it is different and unique enough to add to an idea but still properly rooted in tradition to give the viewers some comfort is a difficult balancing act. Especially today where right now American culture doesn't want to be inspired or given a new perspective, but just reinforce their current values.
