I saw Etceteracy at a grocery store in Texas yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen pickled steel bars in his hands without paying. The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter. When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent ur mom in bed last night,” and then turned around and douggied me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by speaking into his microphone very sensuously.

What the hell? I came to this video to tell everyone that I saw Etceteracy at a grocery store in Texas yesterday. You did well. You kept things simple and you didn't drive yourself crazy trying to achieve a level of perfection that isn't usually needed in a hobby shop. So definitely a success. If you're interested to improve your grinder's ability to achieve great results, you'll have to go into your anal retentive mode. I nearly drove myself crazy but did get my grinder working wonderfully. And yes I bought all the fancy Sepko balancing stuff. Super expensive but worthwhile. Keep on having fun. Great video. Gilles

Check out Ca Lem's balancer. I made one and it's extremely sensitive (and easy to make). Uses ground planer blades. I just sanded my arbor finish until it reached an Ra of really really smooth and by that time it was sensitive enough to detect imbalances in the arbor.

As a home shop SG user I’d suggest you also look at wheel hardness 46J will get you a long way with most materials and wheel dress into if but how and with what is another factor. Your grinder sounds OK but spindle age and condition need to be considered. Like your build.

Ahha another grinding enthusiast! Just made a balancing arbor myself, wish I had one of these.
I'm trying to figure out how to grind an oval bearing race for a wave generator for a harmonic gearbox, the only one I can think of is CNCing my harig. Any ideas?

What is a safe chip load or feed per Rev on that (3/8) or quarter end mill? And is that HSS or carbide ?
