What If the glue they used was from hell and refused to let go of the carpet
This video tip is a lifesaver. I tried to start a 142" room by splitting it into three 47" sections. I got frustrated after only 2 ft.
Tried this and was well along the way in no time. Thanks!
Do you have a video on removing the glue from a concrete subsurface?
I have the same issue. What about the glue that is left behind? I am removing carpet and then installing laminate flooring. How much of the left behind glue is acceptable. If any?
Paint scraper
Cheers mate you saved hell of a lot of time and energy🍻😂
You seriously saved my life right now! I was dying trying to get this thing off all at once haha 😂 Thank you!
This video saved my life and gave me hope.
This video brings back nightmare carpet jobs I would run into. Great video for the diy folks 👍
🥇🎯💯 for my guy here I needed this tip 2 rooms earlier 😂 thanks 👍🏿🙏🏿💪🏿🙌🏿🤲🏿🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Now how do you get the old glue that is stuck to the concrete off?
Grinder and diamond disk
Pour boiling hot water on the area, (be careful not to let it get under the walls) let it sit for a few minutes, then use a scraper or flooring chisel to peel it off
Got to do this tomorrow. Thanks for the video!
Great demonstration and tip. Thanks!
K Bean thanks for checking it out! I appreciate it!
Thank you brotha 🤟🏼saved me a lot of trouble!
The fucking legend right here me and the homie got a kitchen and a room done in one day because of you
Genius. Thanks for the video man!
Thank you I have to remove carpet outside
Thanks man !! You're a life saver !!! Helped alot
I was thinking about trying the 2x4 method- do a corner- pull up 6” tack it to the 2x4 and roll it- but not now- I am going to do your technique
This is very helpful. Thanks man
Michael Blount thanks for checking it out!
I had a very similar commercial space; 1500 sq ft of carpet glued directly to slab. I watched your video but no way in hell was gonna go 6” at a time.
I pulled up a couple feet of carpet from corner, and cut a slit in it away from corner. Had a 6’ horse rope and tied a loop knot at each end.
Ran rope through hole then hooked both rope loops on trailer hitch of my riding mower. And pulled it all up. Carpet ripped a couple times but just cut new hole in carpet and did it again.
Started at 10am and was done by 1:00pm. All 1500 sq ft
I own a condo and I have old indoor outdoor carpeting glued onto my concrete balcony. Getting the carpet up is not a problem it's getting the glue off. It's a condo and all the units have to look the same. How can I get this old glue off without disturbing my neighbors?
Check out Sentinel 626.
Awesome, great video, thanks
Thank you so much! This tip is saving me!
Great information. Thank you for sharing.
Life saver! Thanks

Ah! That worked! Thanks so much!
Oh...duh. Thanks, my day went a lot better.
Now how do I get the adhesive off the concrete?
Your absolutely right thank you
Thank You 🙏🏽 Sir!!!
I’ll be back😎😎😎
This is my exact situation, DIY project nightmare right now
Thank you
I'm going to be removing the outdoor carpet on our front porch sometime this summer. I've already taken some pieces off since the glue wasn't holding it any longer. I'm hoping that glue has failed (or is very weak) on the rest of it as well. Because we have a porch that's almost as wide as the house.
I am removing 1200 sq. feet of carpeting on top of a concrete floor prelaid then walls installed in a commercial environment. Can do about two hours at a time. We purchased a carpet removal tool from Amazon. Works well. Previous floor was carpet too and so am also fighting with two layers or glue. Any suggestions?
I see that's on some type of flooring... would you use the same technique on concrete flooring? Would heat or steam help?
Do you have a video on epoxy flooring?
You are the bomb. That six inch thing is the key. so much easier than even a foot. lotsa blades, but worth it!
is the carpet glue the same that will be used if i put armstrong vct down? do i have to scrub it? or just get it flat? Thanks so much.
Lisa Armstrong well thank you and thanks for connecting!
Vct adhesive is different than carpet adhesive for sure and holds way better! They carry it at all the big box stores but if you have any other questions on it feel free to reach out!
Also I really wouldn’t bother scrubbing it down (although some may disagree) just scrape it down so it’s flat and any imperfections will not show through the new flooring
Now how do you take the glue off?
What type of flooring did u put down? Did you have to do any prep work before you laid down the new floor
Looks like that is some pretty sturdy "newer" carpeting. I have the issue of trying this with older mega glued down lanai carpeting that just tears apart when grabbing it to pull it up and back. Would a floor scraper be the better method? Get the glue and carpet up in one shot?
What did you do? "Older mega glued down lanai carpet" is exactly what we got. Lowes said they no longer install unless it's an air conditioned room. Lol
@@micheleh5269 Cut in strips like the video then used Vise grip channel locks locked down at a corner and rolled them back when clamped to a folded corner section. Then worked a 5 way blade under it as I pulled back on the vise grips. Took a while but eventually got all the carpeting up. Then used Sentinel formula to break down the old glue and bought a floor scraper as well with the Sentinel formula. Got it all up after a lot of elbow grease but I know I will never be putting carpeting back down.
@@FlyingBanana78 Thank you. Curious what you replaced with
@@micheleh5269 an epoxy floor with anti slip mixture. Similar to what people use on garage concrete floor. Has black and white flakes in it.
@@FlyingBanana78 sounds nice did you like how it came out?
I was burned out in 5 minutes and took a nap 😂😂😂
Lol!!
Don't know the carpet trade. What is VCT it was mentioned? Also where floor underlayment is coming off the floor. How do you handle getting that smooth and flat again?
Most Likely We Do It Services vct is vinyl tiles, very common in commercial properties. On this particular project we just used floor patch to clean up the unevenness but if it was in the budget for the client we should of ran 1/4 luan everywhere to really clean it up as these floors were ugly!
Just never heard vinyl referred to as vct. Thanks for that.
Hi. I just bought a house with glued carpet in the laundry room/ back porch. Cement underneath. The carpet is disgusting but seems stuck pretty good. This was helpful. So then what about the glue residue that will be left, any advice? Can I just put some vinyl tile planks over it! Cannot do the luan overlay because my water tank system is in there. I I appreciate any advice thank you very much! Oh, maybe just do laminate and leave the square intact under the pump. What is your opinion?
Mary Dorr thanks for connecting! and yep do not worry about removing the old glue residue planks will be just fine going over top of it
Carpet Expert Blueprint thank you so much. That’s great news. It’s gonna be a bear getting the carpet up. Thought I might have to sand that glue, ugh 😑 lol. Glad I don’t have too. Have a great evening!!
Thank u. I have gross carpets on my porch. No idea why the people that lived here before me wanted it. But it smells like dogs no matter how much I clean it haha
Bro. Ty! We are getting are asses kicked.
What type of knife do I use
The bottom of the carpet shows it wasn't really glued down
You don't have glue up there, it's just kind of sticker
How old was the carpet? Im curious if carpet glue remains soft after an extended period.
R u going to remove the VCT as well? Or patch it?
German Montero on this one we are removing what’s loose patching in the balance. It’s a slop and pop for sure!
Why didn’t I think of that! 😂I got this shit half way off.
Thats not nightmare, try carpet with some kind of epoxy glued to porous concrete
The carpet I'm tearing up up was put down when the concrete was still wet. It's welded into the concrete 😭😭😭😭😭😭no it's not my fault. The guy that built this place was high on days that end in "Y"
I’m stripping old indoor outdoor carpet and it sucks! Lol😂
I do not envy you with those VCT’s coming up
FloorsbySouthernboys haha yep today was a fun one!!
Carpet Expert Blueprint you should get yourself a standup cutter, and a carpet puller even if you only do a few glue down demos A year it is worth it
👌👍🤘🤙🍻
I don’t know about the sexy part
My nightmare is much worse, glued on carpet then glued on padding
I got glue that's a lot hotter than that
😂😂esa carpeta salio como mantequilla😂hay unas que 1ro te arrancas las uñas antes que quitarlas 😂,noob😅
Man your lucky that is easy carpet And probably it’s easy because you have floor tile underneath. Is that asbestos for tile? Yes that is asbestos floor tile under the carpet You are breaking the law breaking the law breaking the law breaking the law
I’m doing one now. And it’s a bitch and a half
Concert underneath. Swear they used liquid nail
That's the weakest glue I've ever seen
Si ma la colla come la levi? Porkoiltuodio
Thank you
