February 19, 2011 - Blake Griffin edged his way into the final round of the 2011 NBA Slam Dunk Contest by earning one more point than third place finisher DeMar DeRozan. From there, Griffin's elbow dunk, combined with JaVale McGee's underwhelming final round attempts, led to a convincing fan vote victory.

Hello, 911? Yeah javale mcgee got robbed, the man responsible is Blake Griffin, he stole his dunk contest championship.
+Connell Glick (ConnellCorpse) With respect, as overrated as Griffin's performance may have been, McGee did very little in the final round to swing the contest in his direction. His first dunk of the final round was kind of a poor man's version of Larry Nance's first dunk in 1984 (Nance's: ruclips.net/video/Y141jxJUFP8/видео.html). Nance made it look pretty sick and McGee's was alright but then again, if you're going to replicate a 27-year-old dunk, it's probably going to have be top notch.
McGee's second dunk was a routine one-handed dunk off a backboard toss (aka the dunk high schoolers do when they first learn to dunk). Granted, that wasn't his first choice, but after he missed his first attempt, he changed gears and settled for the lowkey flush.
Long story short, even if Griffin's off-the-backboard honey dip elbow dunk and sort-of-over-the-hood routine two-hander weren't groundbreaking, they still collectively brought more to the table than McGee's final two finishes... which is unfortunate because McGee's first round was outstanding.

Actually the best dunk by Griffin in this year contest was the one he miss in the first attempt of his first dunk. He changed it to easier mode and made it after few attempts

And he technically didn't jump over the car, what he did was jump and land on the hood to say that you jumped over a car you have to clear it and jump across and land on the other side

Still remembering how hype it was in 2011 for this man, but yes even in 2011, I wasnt impressed much with the car dunk coz we all saw those AND1 dude jump over the middle of a car. Blake said this car thing wasnt his idea at all in recent years interview. He said they gotta use that KIA sponsor car and u can tell those choir presentation isnt from a young man's idea LMFAO

+SuperMikeBeat With respect, a two-handed 360 off one-foot with a pump down to the waist (almost in a windmill motion) is worlds apart from a standard two-footed 360. Griffin adjusted his final product to something much more conservative (removed the pump down to the waist) and subsequently completed the dunk on his first attempt.
Even then, that flush marked the first time a one-footed, two-handed 360 was completed in an NBA dunk competition and generally speaking, one-footed 360's tend to be quite a bit more difficult and unorthodox for most dunkers. That said, I always kind of believed Griffin was scored on that dunk as if he completed his first attempt (with the pump) as opposed to the one he finished (without the pump). I'm not sure many people realized he'd changed it up at the time.
