Not a big mystery. I worked there in the engineering dept during the late 70s. It was a beautiful facility and it no longer requires a building that size for radio today. The station was owned by Norman Knight and it was sold somewhere along the line. The transmitter site is still active that is why it looks so clean. It wasn't an urban area when it was built. The studio is at another location that's all.
IMO, it's strange how IHeart will tear up the sacred 700 WLW transmitter site for development, but just bail on this site and let it rot. I must not know something.
A search of the F.C.C. data base and station license indicates WGIR transmits from this site using four towers, 5000 watts daytime / 1000 watts nighttime. At no time should you touch a broadcast tower as doing so risks possible serious burns and lethal electrical shock. Stay outside the fenced-in areas to avoid exposure to high radio frequency energy.
My uncle worked at a tv station with tower on the 4oof squad with rf suit lol still had 45 min only to work on it cause of the high rf so my questions always been all them signs but someone lives there next to it for. Extended period of tjme

The boxes with tape reels inside are commercials from back in the day.
A dead person was found about 10 years ago in those wet lands there.
WGIR 610am still exists. I believe it still use the towers to transmit but has moved its broadcasting building. It broadcasts the NH Fisher Cats games
yep, they exist still…they moved studios to downtown Manchester but the site is still their transmitter site so he’s lucky to not be in jail
