I would love to have a C8, but unfortunately I cant afford or have room for both. My 992 C2S is like driving a brand new car , even after owning it a couple years . The excitement and love never fades. Great video.
I considered a 911 carerra s when I placed my order for the 3lt convertible z51 c8. Price was one reason I chose C8 96k fully loaded convertible vs 140k non convertible. 2nd V8 vs turbo v6. 3rd easier to figure out options and order. Have you checked out the options on ordering a 911 it is mind numbing. Some may like it, I don’t. Insurance is next 3k vs 800. Dealer network assumed I am not worthy of buying one to most of the dealers I visited. They just see me in my 2008 Lexus and don’t think of me as a Porsche owner. Little did they know I can buy the car in cash. Dealership on going maintenance is also another reason I chose C8. Now I would not buy any of the previous versions of corvette. C8 is way too much value vs 911. 911 is a great car but for my use and money C8 is plenty.
Couldn’t agree more. I crossed the convertible c8 against the 911, used r8, Benz gtc, and Jaguar f type. Settled on the c8 for 98k. The other thing I liked about the c8 is that it has usable truck/frunk. I can fit my golf clubs in it which was huge for me. It’s a weekend car and feels special every time I drive it. Also it’s so cheap to fix in comparison!
You made the obviously right choice. The fact that you could have a 3LT for still substantially less than an essentially base 911 is insane. Also, as you mentioned, the maintenance is guaranteed to be substantially less money than a 911. Getting a base 911 is what tools do, to try to make themselves seem wealthy, when in reality, no wealthy person is buying such a low spec Porsche. Sad!

I own a 992 Carrera S as well as a 2019 ZR1. Fully optioned the 911 runs around 150K. They usually cap in the 150 range because anything more than that puts it in the Turbo price bracket. A stock 911C2S will beat the C8 in both a roll and dig. It’s a fact. 5 grand for a tune and some high flow cats on the Carrera S will give it another 140 wheel HP. E85 tune puts it closer to 600. I am sub 3 second 0-60 on city streets with a stage 2 tune. These engines have so much in them waiting to be tapped! The C8 is nice, but it’s not as much fun!
I think the biggest thing with the 911 is the smaller stance, the lower weight and the backseats make the 911 very attractive. Is it worth the extra 60-70 grand? That’s up to you.
If money is of no concern then the Porsche is probably the better choice. If you really want involvement then the C8 is out of the question as no manual is available--don't really care that you can't shift as fast as the automatic, it's about involvement (autos are great for the wife or your mother though). I don't understand why I see so many Porsches (BMW's, Mercedes) with 30,000-40,000 miles for sale stating "new pads and rotors at 35k miles". You can drive the 'vette for 100k miles doing normal maintenance for next to nothing. As most of us only get to go to the track once every year or two, track numbers are irrelevant so comparing the apples to the oranges ($65k out the door to $110k out the door) it all comes down to how much fun you can have on a daily basis and does that car fit into my budget?
No more new GM for me. Been burnt on engine issues where metal parts seem to be made of butter in Asia. I'll stick with Vettes with LS3's and earlier from now on. The C8 corvette was (until now) the same price as the 992 carrera s because of dealer mark up's, I hate when people talk about the C8 as if it is bargain. I didn't see one C8 for under 100,000 dollars (even used) until 2022 and prices were still at 88k and up, realistically the 992 carrera s is a more practical car and outperforms the C8 but is nowhere near as pretty!!
hahaha the author is on crack the porsche interior looks like a pile of crap next to the c8 modern futuristic interior its not even close the c8 is far superior in every way at the racetrack where true performance is measured as well the street, looks its not even close the porsche looks is outdated the C8 is something nobody has ever seen before it looks badazz
The C8 design is grotesque (the front has potential, but the sides, rear, and interior are lost), but this will be invisible to the eye unless you have spent a lot of time studying modernism. Start with Frank Lloyd Wright, Eero Saarinen, Jens Risom, Richard Neutra. If you soak up enough great design you'll be able to see beauty right away. The 992 returned to proper mid-century form with the flat dash (and the ledge upon which the hand can rest when using the touch screen) and the hood that extends lower with hard angled corners.
Maybe if it was a GTS minimum, you might be able to say the Porsche is better. The Corvette could be well equipped and still cost less than the Porsche

Took me a year to decide... I went with the c8.
really no wrong choice, but the value of the C8 is hard to beat, especially now that they are showing up strong in the used market. One of my biggest problems with the Porsche 911 is just how few of them they make, so you don't get the benefits of economies of scale.
C8 Z06 is a better comparison for the price, and at that point, it's no contest. The Z06 destroys the 911.
Porsche man here
Any porshe over c8 including cayman gt4
A better comparison to the 992 is the C8 Z06 at that price point.
hahaha the author is on crack the porsche interior looks like a pile of crap next to the c8 modern futuristic interior its not even close the c8 is far superior in every way at the racetrack where true performance is measured as well the street, looks its not even close the porsche looks is outdated the C8 is something nobody has ever seen before it looks badazz
C8 all day long. Better in almost every way imaginable. 911 is still a great car, but the C8 is a bargain in comparison.
the value of the C8 is too good
I've driven both and for the money C8 wins hands down. 911 is way overpriced
~$75K vs ~$125K is hard to say no to the C8
My Vette was 84... It's great.. but I lust for the 992s
Cayman gt4
The C8 design is grotesque (the front has potential, but the sides, rear, and interior are lost), but this will be invisible to the eye unless you have spent a lot of time studying modernism. Start with Frank Lloyd Wright, Eero Saarinen, Jens Risom, Richard Neutra. If you soak up enough great design you'll be able to see beauty right away. The 992 returned to proper mid-century form with the flat dash (and the ledge upon which the hand can rest when using the touch screen) and the hood that extends lower with hard angled corners.
Carrera S
911 hands down
Porche more serious sports car
Not this generation. Porsche has been a better sports car in the past, but a C8 Stingray is a better car period.
I think the GT3 is definitely WAY more serious, but if you compare the Carrera 911 to the C8 Corvette Stingray, I think they both batch up well
Too much talking...not enough facts
even the base carrera is better
Carrera S. End of discussion. The 'Vette is no slouch though. Full respect.
Maybe if it was a GTS minimum, you might be able to say the Porsche is better. The Corvette could be well equipped and still cost less than the Porsche
911 wont fit your luggage. Storage wise, no supercar can beat c8 on this
911 has 2 rear seats that can be used for loading. Golf clubs even fit. Taking that into account cargo volume is very similar.
