  • Hello everyone! ❤️
    A few weeks ago I asked you to help me decide on a selection of colors for an autumnal palette from the wonderful watercolor creators, Deep Deep Light and you were all so kind and helpful, thank you! 🥰
    Today I am sharing with you two palettes, both tributes to the natural beauty of Autumn. ❤️
    Deep Deep Light has generously gifted us a code for 15% off, to use if you would like to purchase any or both of the palettes or anything else on their site:
    The code is: mooncolors
    The link to the palette: deepdeeplight....

    Your sketchbook is so lovely , I got so inspired, and the paints seem lovely too. Thank you so much for the video!
    I had a look at their website and was rather dissapointed. what annoyed me and also put me off buying their colours is that almost none of the colours has any pigment information at all! I would never buy any colours, and especially such expensive colours, without any proper pigment information. I only found pigment information on the colours they sell in half pans and those are only a fraction of the colours they have in the sets. So please, as their ambassador, could you let them know they would get more costumers if they displayed pigment information of all their colours?

      Francine, these colors have been a joy to work with! Their greens have spoilt me as in the past I would always mix my greens and now I just use the Deep Deep Light ones straight out of the pan, haha😄💖

    The colors are very beautiful, but the lack of pigment and lightfastness information, combined with the high price, doesn't make me want to invest in them. The lyrical descriptions, combined with your lovely swatches, are wonderful eye candy, but alas, not a substitute for pigment data vital to the working artist. I have a set of DDL, but use them only for quick layouts or notebook sketches where lightfastness is irrelevant. The DDL paints are quite similar to those made by Poems About You, and she supplies all the pertinent data relevant to the pigment(s) used to make each color. I should also say the her paints rewet much more easily than the DDL paints.That's important to me, as well. Thanks again for a fantastic swatching session. I want to steal your swatch books...

    I live in Australia and Watercolour paints, paper and brushes are so much more expensive than I’ve seen anywhere.
    I have to be very selective in my purchases. Handmade paints are way out of my budget as a retiree.
    The postage is also very expensive. Very sad… but I do get many hours of pleasure painting. ❤✨🎨

    I am pretty shocked at how expensive these are. 15 euros for a half pan is about $17 US dollars per pan. I pay less than that for even Daniel Smith. I realize it is labor intensive to make watercolors but wow, these are not affordable for me anyway.

    • @Iwanttodrawachicken
      @Iwanttodrawachicken 9 месяцев назад +12

      Yeah, handmade watercolours aren't for everyone, but I can still enjoy how beautiful they are in the video.
      That said, the times I could paint with handmade colours were a joy. They add so much life to a painting. If I go on a no buy, I should be able to afford some handmade paints from a local artist this spring.

    • @amypanddirtytoo1926
      @amypanddirtytoo1926 9 месяцев назад +9

      Yeah, unfortunately that's just what they have to charge to make any profit. It's just them, no company, no employees. I have SOOOO many tubes of the well known, mainstream brands like Daniel Smith, W&N, Schmincke, Holbein, Roman Szmal........all of them. So I'm gonna just go on a no buy for those watercolors and save up for some of the handmade ones I've been eyeing!😄

    • @marsbeads
      @marsbeads 9 месяцев назад +5

      I agree. I can't speak to these watercolors, but I have purchased other handmades because other you tubers, ooh'd and aah'd about them, I thought I have to try. In my opinion, they aren't all that. They're just sitting in a drawer and I continue to use my M. Graham and Winsor & Newton paints. I'm over the FOMO. But, if you can afford them, then no loss for those who can buy them. I can't afford to try anymore.

    • @amypanddirtytoo1926
      @amypanddirtytoo1926 9 месяцев назад +1

      @marsbeads there are some that I have seen YTers ooohing and amazing over as they swatch them, but I can see how hard it was to reset and how chalky they are! BUT, there are some that are beautiful, creamy, translucent, opaque when they are SUPPOSED TO BE🤣🤣 (im looking at you Cadmiums and Chromium oxide green!), and that burst across the page instead of sitting there like mud. Those are the ones I am going to get. Not all handmade are equal. Just like not all mainstream are equal.

    • @lilymoonart
      @lilymoonart  9 месяцев назад +7

      Hi Sandjune! Thank you for the feedback! :) I do undestand that some watercolors may not suit everyone's budget. I do try and cover a variety of watercolors on my channel, from very affordable to artisanal handmade paints that are created by smaller watercolor studios. These smaller studios produce a litmited amount of paints and are understandably more expensive than mass produced paints produced by larger companies, for them to be able to make a profit. In the coming weeks I have some really affordable paints arriving, which I'll share on my channel, and i do hope you'll find those videos helpful in your watercolor journey. ❤️
