I entirely blame you for BOTM. I joined because of you. But, I've thoroughly enjoyed my subscription. My trouble has been narrowing book choices down because I like more than one. I don't think I've ever skipped.
I used to have that same problem and then I got TWO subscriptions! Lol! But since they raised the number of add-ons we are allowed for a box, it was no longer necessary for me to keep it.
This is one of my favorite videos each month ❤ I love Book of the month and always find multiple books I love! Like you, I tried Ardvark , but found myself skipping often! Their selections weren’t compatible with my tastes 🤷🏼♀️ so I finally quit
I’m really hoping for all 3 thriller picks. And I love BOTM. I went back and looked at my purchase/skip history and I average skipping 4 months per year. But I make up for it other months by picking 3-5 selections.
That's pretty good!! I mean, many people just stick to the main selection and don't get add-ons at all, meaning if they don't skip ever, they only get 12 books. Even with skipping 4-months a year, you are still surpassing that significantly.
🦋 I’m definitely looking forward to Rebel Witch, we’ll see what the main picks are on if I skip this month as I’m sure that will be an add on. Also hi Archie! 😍
I love BOTM but i am only on my fourth month. It has made me explore new authors, new genres. I have Ali Hazelwoods books in paperback do struggling with i whether i would pick that as my choice or continue down my paperback road for her. Cant wait to see next months picks. I am one of those that the week before is checking daily in case they open it early 😅
🦋I loved my BOTM picks. I haven’t gotten a bad book from them. I can’t even remember the last time that I skipped a month. They have a great variety of books. So I am more than happy with them.
I have definitely gotten my share of "bad" books from them, so I cannot say that their taste and mine always align, but I do find that they have a wide variety and I am often introduced to authors I might not otherwise have read so, I don't think I will be going anywhere anytime soon
I love the orange kitty! I've always wanted an orange cat. He's so cute. I'm had pretty good luck with BOTM. Between their thrillers and fantasies, they almost always have something I want. I haven't really looked into Aardvark so not sure if it'd like them better or not
You can always take a peek at what they offer every month to see what you think. I, personally, find most of their selections to be on the weirder side and it's just not what I want.
I really think Rebel Witch will be a pick. I loved Heartless Hunter so I’ll definitely be getting Rebel Witch for sure. The Riveter sounds interesting. If it comes out as a pick I may check it out.
Hello! I just finished the first book in the Crimson Moth and am so excited to see the sequel. The first book was also a February release. I have absolutely loved the monthly selections and always find something.
I cannot wait for Rebel Witch! Heartless Hunter was one of my top reads last year. I love my BOTM subscription. I definitely love the backlog too but only once last year wasn't interested in the main selections.
I’ve also been enjoying BOTM and I’m with you regarding Ardvark. I just haven’t found that anything of their’s was of interest. Whereas on BOTM I think I’ve skipped one month since I’ve joined. There were a good few you mentioned here that I’m going to hope are available for February!
I’m in the camp of not being super happy with the options lately. All the books I’ve wanted have been add-ons. I don’t have an Aardvark sub but I have been considering it
I have both BOTM and Aardvark and I rarely skip either. I will say last month I got the BOTM thriller option so I could get add ons, but that is unusual.
I have two botm subscriptions and an aardvark subscription, I've had to limit myself to only getting a box if I've read the books i got the month before. I kept getting books and not reading them and then I'd see them in my local library. So I'm skipping more often these days.
Yes I tried Aardvark and their picks for the most part tend to.. let’s say appeal to a niche of people that I’m not a part of. But the physical quality of their books are terrific.
I didn’t get a book this month but 2 books that were add ons I wanted ended up reading them on the Libby app. The last 3 months the add ons has been better but I’m not buying a book I’m not going to read just to get an add ons books.
I re-signed up for BOTM and signed up for aardvark at the same time last year. Having them both for over a year now, I definitely prefer the quality of BOTM picks over aardvark. Aardvark isn’t bad, but they usually don’t have selections that cater to my taste (I absolutely love the physical quality of their books though). I found myself wanting to select add-ons more often with BOTM and nearly never with aardvark.
I understand the appeal of Aardvark and I do appreciate that their selections never overlap with BoTM but I do think they often try too hard to be different. While I would love to be able to take advantage of their services almost none of the selections appeal to me
This month might be a skip month for me. I am hoping that Listen to Your Sister or the 3rd Emily Wilde book will be selections. I do like BOTM, I don't skip overall too often.
Aardvark is really hit or miss. I've noticed that a lot of their selections have super low ratings. But also I've been skipping or only getting one book from BOTM for several months as well.
I've been loving BOTM month since I joined. Granted, I've only been signed up for six months but so far I have had at least two picks per month. I am also not to fond of Aardvark. I check their choices every month and would find myself skipping month after month if I joined. To each their own, I guess :)
Exactly! If one service doesn't work for someone, the other will! I personally find a lot of new authors from BoTM and they put books on my radar I otherwise would have never heard of. I don't always love the books I get from them, but I love their variety.
@@RescuesandReads I feel the same way. I am always searching for new authors, new stories, or new takes on a story and I think BOTM does well providing that.
BOTM feels more geared toward literary, mass appeal picks while Aardvark is offering more niche, eclectic, non mainstream stuff. I've got both and have been doing BOTM longer but while BOTM has a much better customer experience, I have skipped a lot this year because I dislike all options. And it does leave a bad taste in my mouth that they so only offer the very popular options as add-ons to try to make us pick a monthly book we don't want to pay more for another book we do want. If I could have Aardvark's selection with BOTM customer experience, it would be perfect.
I obviously disagree as I almost have no issue finding books I want to read, and considering their variety I find it hard to believe that people can't find something they want, but specifically to your point on BoTM putting the popular books as add-ons, I understand the strategy, especially if they are trying to bring attention to new authors. While yes, it's obviously a way to earn money (they are a business after all) if they only put the super popular releases as mains selections, many people might skip right over some of the other options or not view add-ons at all. And in reality, you don't HAVE to pick a main selection if you don't want to during the same month. You can wait until a month where there is a main selection you want and then get the add-ons. It would be somebody's choice if they selected a main pick they didn't want just to get the add-on.
I'm going to get a lot of hate to this, but I'm going to say it anyway. My only complaint with BOTM is there are way too many Fantasy books and not enough Romance
That’s definitely not true. I have to get the vast majority of fantasy books I read elsewhere because they aren’t on BOTM. BOTM is def more in the literary fiction or mystery/thriller game which I’m not complaining about because I love mystery/thriller but to say they have too many fantasy books is just objectively untrue
I am afraid I agree with William. Historically, BoTM features very little fantasy overall. They are primarily a literary/contemporary/Hiatorical fiction, thriller, service. Only recently have they started featuring more Fantasy but even still it's a fairly small percentage overall of what they have featured. It's why that category is usually always the smallest in my predictions.
I'm looking forward to reading Harlem Rhapsody.
I look forward to your botm videos because I like knowing ahead of time what's available ❤
I entirely blame you for BOTM. I joined because of you. But, I've thoroughly enjoyed my subscription. My trouble has been narrowing book choices down because I like more than one. I don't think I've ever skipped.

Love your BOTM predictions! Gets me even more excited about the next month's possible selections. Hope Famous Last Words is a Feb. pick.
I’m really hoping for all 3 thriller picks. And I love BOTM. I went back and looked at my purchase/skip history and I average skipping 4 months per year. But I make up for it other months by picking 3-5 selections.

I have heard so many amazing things about Heartless Hunter that it is definitely now on my radar!
I am very much hoping Deep End and Rebel Witch are some of the picks. Patiently waiting for the drop

Wrong Place, Wrong Time is very well known. I would be interested in reading it.
It was a solid thriller!

Great predictions! A lot of good ones! I hope BOTM sees this and is guided by some of these predictions!
That is so sweet but I highly doubt BoTM is aware of my existence. I have a feeling they choose their books weeks or months in advance.
I chose road of bones, but still haven't read it! I saw at least 3 books here I would pick it they are featured!
Love BOTM. Most of my new books are from there now.
Congratulations you got 2 correct!!!
I got several correct. These predictions cover add ons as well.
Added A Girl Like Us immediately the second you said its being compared to Saltburn!
I have no idea what Saltburn is, Lol! But if you read this, let me know what you think!!
I love both Aardvark and BOTM ❤❤

I don't even subscribe to book of the month, I just like hearing about the new books coming out 😂
That is perfectly valid. Lol.
🦋 I’m a mystery/thriller girlie
I look forward to thia video every month. I'd love to hear your thoughts on BOTM Lolly award
Ooh. Good idea! I may incorporate my thoughts on the nominees into February's Pick or Pass video.
I’m in the mood for a good historical fiction.

@ I’m finding fewer of their selections appealing, especially since my favorite genre is historical fiction and they rarely have that.
This month might be a skip month for me. I am hoping that Listen to Your Sister or the 3rd Emily Wilde book will be selections. I do like BOTM, I don't skip overall too often.
I haven't been disappointed with BOTM. Last time I ordered three books!
I hope First Time Caller by BK Borison is featured
I don't think they have ever featured BK Borisom before so I would be surprised if they do but it's not an impossibility
🦋
Aardvark is really hit or miss. I've noticed that a lot of their selections have super low ratings. But also I've been skipping or only getting one book from BOTM for several months as well.
BOTM didn't feature Bride by Ali Hazelwood
But they have featured all of her contemporaries so I still think they would feature this one
🦋🦋🦋
Thank you for watching!

I stand corrected then; but I do have to say there are very options of romance lately.
I’m new here. It feels like this video is sped up..? Why is it going so fast?
That's just the way I speak.
