Your playthroughs are so awesome because of how you’re so engaged. Your degree in international relations will make this so very interesting. Love your stuff. Thank you for your time.
The husband part was referring to when she had to face The Sorrow and kill him, to keep him from the grief of killing her- one must live and the other must die- just like she and Snake years later
True. She really wants to know the lore and goes deeply into it in her theories. It's refreashing after seeing a few people just "playing" it without understanding much of the universe or thinking about it further. Will be pretty sad when her MG journey ends some day.
23:58 Détente, the way they use it means relaxation. Lowering their guards and standing down their armies. The term is being used to describe a moment when hostilities are coming to a halth and peace talks can begin
43:55 That sound effect sound like it's from Mega Man. 😂 Love the art style of the cutscenes. Looks like the ones from Portable Ops. It's fun that there is some interaction as well, although the input buttons are a bit big on screen. I guess they had to do that, because people wouldn't even know that they need to do something. Haha. 01:16:45 What a sentence. 01:30:30 Because you are destined to get "C"s in Metal Gear games. Great episode! Have an amazing rest of your day, Whimsy!
Just wanted to leave some recommendations: 1. Analyzer is really helpful for getting better soldiers, when it's equipped you analyse the enemies to know their rank right on the mission. Right now I'd recommend to hunt for C Ranks. There are some of them in every mission. 2. For Vehicle Boss fights, try to use stealth approach, makes them much more interesting and tactical. It is also the most effective way to capture vehicles. I'd recommend to use smoke grenades. They incredibly overpowered in this game. 3. Try to S rank missions, it is not that important, but it gives you design specs for development. These also can be found on missions.
The Metal Gear Solid series is my favorite. It's the reason I'm a gamer. My whole game room is centered around Metal Gear. It's awesome to watch you play Peace Walker!
If I remember well, she said "Go home !" at the beginning of opération Snake Eater when it was pitch dark and Snake came for the second time, when she blew up his vehicle with her weapon Patriot
I know it's personal preference, but 3-item cycle is much easier to control in this game. Considering you're almost always going to use Fulton Recovery but might want quick access to Surround Indicator or Rations.
Yes the skulls represent the difficulty of a mission. There are some optional late game extra ops boss battles that are very hard to complete alone, but in them you can unlock some optional briefing files and by completing all extra ops missions you get an final briefing file that you likely want to hear. On a side note there is some hidden Capcom crossover that you maybe want to look up how to unlock after finishing the game. Plus mission 20 has two optional cutscenes that are good if you miss them.
As many said. The man on the bridge she doesn't hesitate to kill is refering to The Sorrow. But she can't bring herself to kill a snake no matter how dangerous it is 😏 Oh and the CIA dosen't want to "study" The Boss. She did exactly what they told her to and accomplished the mission exactly as intended during Snake Eater.
Yeah! The Hold Up in this game is super broken but it's awesome. Once they are down, you can just leave them there. They will never get up and other soldiers won't even assist them. Lol. But I grab every one for the base anyway.
absolutely loving this. was forced to experience this game through a PSP emulator on my PHONE. so, to say it simply. i didnt have the best experience and still loved it. this is making me really happy to see 5!
You have a degree in International Affairs and you went to nursing school? I can't help but wonder what life was like for you before "Whimsy". I'm curious to know more, tbh. Sounds like you've had such an interesting life up to now. Always a joy to listen to your perspective on games like this 😊
Aww thank you!! I have an interest in so many different things, it was hard for me to choose what I wanted 'to be', so I just did a lot of different things 🤣 and now, two pre-university diplomas + two bachelor's degrees later, I technically don't even use any of that for RUclips LMAOOO no regrets though, I even got to spend a year in Japan during my international studies, so it was all worth it!
@@WhimsyPsyche I understand how MGS1 is your favourite, it's so about by-passing treaties in a realistic diplomatic war. MGS1 is also among my favourites
@@WhimsyPsyche Wow, that's so cool! I honestly couldn't be happier for you! 1:30:35 - "C!! WHY??" Whimsy in order to get the best grade "S" in most missions, you will have to do the following 3 factors: 1) No kills, 2) No combat alerts, & 3) Clearing the missions in a "fast alotted time". Best you develop the "Sneaking Suit" soon, if you want to earn that grade! 😉👌
In a Cold War framework, “détente” refers to a relaxation of tension between the US and USSR starting in the late 60s after the Cuban missile crisis. So yes, it comes from the French for relaxation! Although this game has some very fantastical elements, it’s also quite grounded in the real geopolitics of the 1970s.
Peace Walker helped me win a quiz game in my history class one time. One of the questions was "which country has these biomes" and I picked Costa Rica. Thanks Paz.
Peace walker is kind looking like a very great game the stealth looks fun very good job to the creators of the psp versions of metal gear sold I was very impressed and I think 10/10 so much space I mean sarcastically
You can do cqc and aim them later at the ground to hold them up. Also grab them, then release them and aiming at them from the back. Waking them up after knocked/zzz up and aiming afterwards also holds them up
@@WhimsyPsyche I've been playing this game since it came out! You can even reset the AI status from soldiers with helmets by shooting those off from their heads
Snake is such a badass bird photographer that he uses macro lenses, instead of telephoto, to photograph kestrels. A sneaking mission to surpass Metal Gear. Edit I guess that "La, la la, la la la" is the new RULES OF NATURE!
This song la lala lalala lalala is named as Victory Song as same Sunny sing it in mgs4 but she use this melody to spell periodic elements in briefings cutscene, also in mgs4 when you arrived in Western Europe Act 4 if im sure that u need to follow that spy he whistle this victory song too.
@@Nexdex @Nexdex so what song is? You just say it different, is not but you don't prove anything tho? Or u just said cuz that is based in what you guess? Whimsy said she already heard this before. So it need to be in another game, and from what i know is pretty similar is different yes but is the same kuz kojima re used some melody and songs in another games, like old mgs from mgs3 is the same melody from msg2 main theme but in another style like victory theme is the reference at Sunny song. Also a lot of mgs fan ask the same and they said it was the Sunny song from mgs4 too.
I highly recommend auto assign and putting people in spots for upgrades. Also I’d suggest using CQC more when you’re about to be spotted. You’ll save a lot more tranqs
thank you for listening to all the tapes. they really add to the game

Fun fact: As you have seen from the cutscenes, Snakes does all that happens during Peace Walker with his M16A1 assault rifle.

I guess you know the song because it was played in the outro of MGS4, called "Here's to you". Good song, remarkable! ;)
That is a different song

"La CIA" in French because it's an Agency , which is feminine.
Also "Le FBI" because Bureau is masculine.
MGS PoOPs still one of my favorites but as long as we can forget that whole plot twist with a certain scientist showing up at the end… 10/10
