- Spoon Phillips takes the Martin OM-28 Modern Deluxe for a test-drive, and we get to watch. And listen! The OM-28 Modern Deluxe from C.F. Martin Guitar is a hot-rodded OM-28 that bridges the gap between the standard series OM-28 and the "king of them all" OM-28 Authentic. The Modern Deluxe OM-28 gives you a torrefied top like the Authentic, though it's Sitka Spruce instead of Adirondack. Other upgrades include a carbon fiber / VTS adirondack bridgeplate, Luxe bridgepins, maple binding and more. What do you think of the tone? Please let us know in the comments below.

Great review! Pretty easy to see and hear your enthusiasm in the feel an sound of this guitar! I've had my 2018 OM28 re-imagined for about a year now and really like the sound but seems like this new OM-28 Modern Deluxe might make me want to upgrade!

What a gorgeous guitar and great review. I was sold on a mahogany Martin cutaway until I fell in love with this OM. I am sold. Will be purchasing this (with the Fishman pickup system) in 2023 as my main guitar with my PRS AE60 going to the backup/capo'd role. Wow. Just wow.

Great note separation and huge volume - almost like a D without the huge low end of the D. Would love to hear you play this side-by-side with a regular reimagined OM-28.

Looks and sounds great. I played a custom shop OM 28V, and really really liked the neck on that, I regret not getting it. So I'm considering getting this as it's the newest OM I can buy with a V neck, along with some aesthetic features I really like. I wonder if they'll consider doing an OM 42 Modern Deluxe? That seems like it would be my grail guitar, 42 appointments with modern technology.
Modern Deluxe series IS going to grow ... not sure if OM-42 is coming though.
I got one recently and also have a om28 reimagined. I was playing the MD and wondering how maple binding and these metal bridge pins could make the MD so much more vibrant, I totally forgot about the VTS til watching this video. It’s a pretty amazing guitar the standard model but the MD just Shines!

Nice guitar. I know the string spacing at the bridge is a little wider to accommodate fingerstylists but how does it feel when strumming it with a pick?

I loved this guitar in every, single, possible, way but 1. The neck width on the OM-28 Modern Deluxe (and I mean the OM-28 MD specifically) is wider than ANY of the other models. It ruins playability for me.

Martin fender gibson...they all doing this lately thirty different models of the same model.....make the best one you can make and sell it , reasonably, thats how you sell guitars man.......all too many options means lots of unsold guitars....what am i wrong lol

Martin offers the OM-28 standard, the OM-28 Modern Deluxe and they recently discontinued the OM-28 Authentic. So three (now two) but ... :)
