(THE SYSTEM STILL WORKED EVEN THO I MADE THIS MISTAKE AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE TEST DRIVE)
WORKS WAY BETTER NOW I WIRED IT CORRECTLY :)
It just goes to show you how good this system is if it's wired slightly incorrect and still worked :) Good luck wth your install

SMART TURN SYSTEM [Discount Code] - smartturnsystem.refr.cc/discount
So glad I stumbled across this video. I almost ordered this and the Smart Brake Module together last week and therefore would've missed out on the hefty discount. Thanks so much. By the way, it's not just a problem for older bikes. Mine is a 2019 CB650R and it has a lot of the latest tech built-in to save my ass except this one important omission. I didn't realise how often I forget my winker until I sat back and watched my own GoPro footage. Holy crap, it's been more than 12 months and I don't think my short term memory has improved.
Thank you so much for this comment David I'm so happy I was able to get you that discount by using my link and you seriously won't regret getting them installed. Not sure why Honda doesn't have this as standard but I will have this on all my bikes :)
Sorry to necro an old video, but I watched this to prepare for installing my own STS. As a colorblind individual the wire connection part of the installation looks intimidating. Good thing my partner has full color vision. :D
Its a great stystm I hope you managed to get it installed
Nice idea, had a close call a few months back where I left my indicator on and a car almost pulled out in front of me thinking I was turning, lucky for me they noticed my mistake. I just installed a usb charging port to my bike and now might consider this as well to add some extra mod cons to the bike.
Ross Fu, Wow I wasn’t expecting that kind of amazing response, thank you for letting me know, I know exactly what you mean because it’s so easy to leave a blinker flashing, I’m super grateful that you left me a comment.
Any questions just ask :)

Looks pretty neat, Mate. Part mechanical and part electronic I see. I’m a strong believer in lighting and noise for any bike for safety reasons. Loved the petcock bit... you’re a cool guy to leave that in. Love self deprecating humor! Have a great week!
Gary A , hi Gary, you never miss I video do you. Lol 😂
You say I’m a cool guy but you’re the one that always has positive things to say about my videos, so that makes you the cool guy in my eyes :)
Love it! and thank you for the complement 😊
To be honest, I used to be afraid to show my weaknesses and mishaps but being vulnerable is how people get to know like and trust me so I’m just being me.
Some of my mistakes will need to get cut out because I like to keep my videos as short as I can but I won’t cut the short ones like this because it’s funny 😁
Cafe Racer Garage LOL- good stuff! And you’re quite right, wouldn’t miss one of your vids (being the student I am)! Ride safely, Mate!
i just bought my 2010 honda shadow rs750 and it's hard to stop my turn signal maybe because of a bad turning toggle switch. this would be a good idea to install this S2S smart turn signal myself as i saw you how you did it yourself easily... thanks for this video, very helpful...
Me from the future. You got your left and right flashers mixed up. Once you figure this out and switch the wires (and you will!) you get much better results.
Great video, how's it going 4 years on?, I wonder if mounting it on the actual handle bars that turn make it sense the turn has been completed better?.
Still works perfectly
Another great vid Dan, really useful info. In answer to your previous question re the CX, it would be great to see another build from scratch, thanks. In the meantime looking forward to seeing the CB completed. Looks good with the seat hump.
Thank you Mr Mark, Yeah I love this STS :) Thank you for the nice comment yet again... I'm now at research stage for getting parts for the Scrambler CX challenge, Its going to be a massive challenge that's for sure, I can't wait to ride the CB :) Part 3 of the hump is coming next Sunday. im looking forward to your thoughts on it
very helpful video, bought the unit for my wife's BMW 310 R but instruction doesn't have a specific wiring for her bike, one day maybe will find it, thank you cheers Verdon
My grandfather (that still rides at age 70+) has self cancelling indicators on his bmw (k1200gt). I always get so annoyed at him because since his indicators cancel themselfes, he never cancels them manually. And they are on some weird timer from the moment you dirve off or something, so they go on for like 10-20 seconds after he ha smade the turn. It kinda ruins the whole thing with it. For me on my minnimalistic Ducati S2R, I just have the muscle memory. If its pulled (left/right) its pushed after. No brainer. But I can see why some people would enjoy this modification. Nice video!
Thank you for the comment mate, yeah its definitely a personal thing, but If you took self-cancelling indicator out of my car Id go crazy because I'm so used to having it, I guess its also what you get used to :) thanx again.
“This is going to be a fairly honest review”😂😂😂😂
I installed this module on my 2023 Kawasaki vn900 and it works. However, I'm wondering if anyone has found a way to manually cancel the system. When changing lanes with a gentle slide over, I'm finding that the signal doesn't cancel. If I make an exaggerated lane change, which tends to evoke some rather disconcerting looks from others, it cancels. Problem is, I'm having to make this exaggerated movement every lane change, or no go. Any solutions? ST-2's Phillipe Duvon was unable to provide an answer. What say you Cafe Racer? Thanks
I just installed both the smart turn system and the smart brake system one month ago, will jump to end results. 3 things that STS needs to do, 1. Follow up on customers questions 2. The STS needs to allow switch cancellation in case of suttle lane change movements that do not cancel the turn signal, THIS IS URGENT!!! 3. Smart Brake System needs to have sensitivity regulation and option for the blinking stop light mode to keep blinking once you have depressed the brake pedal or pulled the lever.
Guess 4 things then!! All are urgent to be added and attended.
Great feedback, I will forward this information across.
@Smart Turn System, Hello Miha I sent you wiring diagrams for the Leoncino 500 after you asked for them and no reply, I was surprised about no further reply. I managed to figure out about the correct installation and all is working as mentioned cancelling is ok when turning but as I mention no possibilities to cancel manually. I will write an email or call.
@Smart Turn System hello Miha, sent you the videos and photos. Thanks for the support.
I dont know...??? stayed on a bit too long for my liking on a couple of times in that vid... My old Honda 750 A (1977) from seppo land has a beeper, But my 2010 Suzuki Boulevard, just a push switch... might stick to that me thinks... thanks for the info though... ;-)
He mentions it in the next video but he mucked up the loom on this one, check out his brake module vid and he shows a demo with it done right
If you switch it on too early before the corner or the traffic slows you down too much they may turn off before you get to there. So you still have to watch your tell-tale lights if you can see them in the sunlight. I nearly came a gutser a couple of times due to this. The time taken to switch off in a straight line is not adjustable and is about 10 seconds for memory.
Installed the brake module today just need the rain to piss off so I can go for a ride, annoyingly the CB500x doesn't have a horizontal surface for me to easily attach. sorted for now I think.
i'll be looking at a ton of videos before I have a crack at this one and if I struggle I'm riding up your way :D
unfortunately it appears my wires are different colours than the STS manual, at least it was for the brake, will make this one interesting.
You wont be disappointed, Did you watch my orther video? Smart Brake module. I explain how I made a mistake with the wires. I still workes but It was way betting after I fixed it :) ruclips.net/video/plzulymcJLE/видео.html
@@CafeRacerGarage Did it last night. big mistake, rush of blood lol. pretty sure I cooked the flasher relay heard it go berserk when I powered on (turn system not plugged into power).
Currently no indicators at all. so before I go changing the whole harness and mucking around like that I'll start with the simplest, cheapest, quickest. finally good weather for a ride to. worse case I know a good 2 hour ride I can do where I should only use the indicator 8 times :D
It was daunting to do and big words seeing I haven't completed it yet but I think it is simple once you break it down. cut 3 wires, reconnect them tap into power. done. I just hadn't done anything electrical for 20 odd years and was tired and excited rather than taking my time properly (too much time taken with somethings rushed others)
It says you still have full control of indicators but doesn't seem to be a way to manually cancel .
What when you make a mistake think this is your turn but turns out it isn't - then the indicator keeps flashing for a while.
Also on motorway when smoothly changing lanes it sometimes doesn't realize you have completed the manoeuvre
Check your wiring Paul as I mentioned my wiring mistake at the end of this video ruclips.net/video/plzulymcJLE/видео.html the difference is incredible when you wire to property. Have a great day brother
Hi just a quick question, is it possible to mount the system further back on the bike? Say underneath the seat. And connect the system further down the loom?
yes, installed one today on a vtx1800, just had to extend all the wires and run them under the tank.
The cable from the unit is too short! Right now mine is duct taped to my glove box. I will need to buy 8 colors of wire to extend it another 2’ so it can go in my fairing. When it stops snowing, I look forward to testing it!
I’ve been waiting 3 MONTHS to receive my order, and still no sign of it!
Hey Dan, what is the name of the song and artist at the very beginning of this video? Been driving me nuts trying to find it.
Hey Paul I use royalty free music, sometimes you can find the name of the song if you use Shazam app on your phone 👍
otherwise this would take me a very long time to find as I would have to dig through all of my hard drives and I have about 12 of them at 2 TB each
@@CafeRacerGarage tried that; I think the clip is too short for Shazam to find it. 😄
I've only seen self-canceling indicators one my first bike (a Harley)...
My driving instructor always told me "Check your indicators at every junction" or "turn, cancel, turn, cancel"
filmdetective smart man your instructor :) yeah I think some of the older BMWs had something like this too, This is way more advanced than I thought. It works so well that this video only touches on some of the positives.
As soon as you turn on your ignition it flashes to let you know it’s active, just like a car alarm would let you know it’s armed.
Cool concept, but I think we should just do as the bike intended to, and just to remember to manually switch it off and on. Great review thought mate, would like to see more! Plus I didn’t know anything like this existed for a bike !
Charlie Power thank you for the great comment Charlie,
It’s something I never knew existed until recently either and I thought it would be very handy for the people that want to upgrade there motorcycle.
I realise you are happy as your bike is , however, I’m amazed how well this thing works. Have an amazing day brother and ride safe :)
I bought this item for a BMW R1150R, website suggests this should work, but it won't. After selling the item, the company (David Rand) does not respond to my emails any more. I'm afraid I have been scammed.
I had one of these and it lasted about 2 years. It would cancel the signal even though it shouldn't have. I'd stay away from them.
Hey mate i got my cbr 650r and the wire colours are different. I did buy the book for my bike but cant work out what they are lol help ?
All good put it on yesterday super scary but it works!!!
@@aldoalisa4512 I don't suppose you recall the differences? I know when I did my brake module on the CB500x they were different. but hey 3 wires 1 ground, 50/50 of getting it right :D
@@pitherau yeh i got it right lol
I never never get the " packaging fetish" ( not you, as a cultural fad)
I like this lighting idea...I even like you broke it down in 3 vudeos.
Information for free I love youtube.
Thank you for your contribution
Yes, some people like nice packages for some reason. A brown cardboard box it fine as long as the products ar quality 👍
If you do get this for yourself you will be happy 😃
Thank you for your kind words
A lot of new bikes don’t have self canceling indicators unfortunately
Very cool I love this idea thanks!
MidwestMotoRider No worries mate and thank you :) It’s a really easy fix to a problem bikes have had for decades.
WHY NOT MODUL IN THE HEADLIGHT UNIT
just remember, you can not cancel the turn signal until it does it for you... meaning if you initiate the signal for a turn or lane change, there is no way to turn it off manually.
Im not to sure if you have the same unit but actually, you CAN cancel at any time. It workes just like your normal signal but turns off for you so you never have to worry about forgetting :) Have a great day brother
@@CafeRacerGarage It doesn't quite work like standard (at least on my 1987 Honda VF700 Super Magna) If you are turning left for example, push the switch left (as normal) To switch it off, press it the same way. Great video.
hows the cx go mate?
marcus mcc Are you asking about this one or the one I’m going to build into a scrambler/ Tracker?
well both i really enjoy your content, how do they go on the road? I think these are a pretty sweet platform to build a custom on. They are quite different. i just got one, its been sitting for a long time and its in a mess. just curious to know how you think they ride.
Thank you mate, The Black one in this video is nicknamed Paris, I love riding It, it's soon to get the Cafe Racer makeover, however, not before I finish the CB 750 because Paris is the bike I have to ride until I finish one of the others, The Other CX is called Denmark and I have not taken it for a ride yet, its going to get turned into a Scrambler / Tracker some time soon because Its a Challange If you have seen the end of my last video you will know what Im talking about :) To answer your quesion yes, A great fun bike to ride on road, I love it :) you have picked a very cool bike to modifie with easy and cheap to get parts for :) what are you planing to turn it into? also where are you located?
ehhh nah, takes way too long to go off after you turn or change lanes. I wonder if they have fixed in anything in the 6 years since this video was released.
