@@timothyskidmore1554I think it’s rather interesting to make the Number Hunter treat the Numbers he has won as a means to an end. It showed that he wasn’t going to be like prior duelists Yuma won against, who relied on their Numbers to get them through. Top this off with Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon being the perfect antithesis of most Xyz monsters, and you have a good opening duel to a new character. And this is further cemented by Astral and Yuma being shook by that duel for a good few episodes afterwards.

Not sure if I would put it in the top 10 but Mizael's first duel was pretty good. After all those duels against the guys possessed by the Barian's we finally got to see one of the Barian emperor's in action. It was our first time seeing an over hundred number, Yuma got rekt sorta like the first Kaito duel, Kaito stepped in to face him and we had an awesome clash with galaxy eyes vs galaxy eyes, then the duel ended because his chaos number was so strong it broke the damn game.
Shun is the hero equivalent of the unhinged villain. Guy is merciless, efficient and fueled by nothing but cold rage. He's like the Punisher of the Yugioh series. The way he exposed Sora live on stream and cared so little about Action Duels being fun and entertaining that he was willing to murder his opponent by carpet bombing the city and dropping a whole building on him made the Standard Dimension arc of Arc-V one of the best arcs in all the series. It went from happy-go-lucky to deadly serious incredibly quickly. And then he did it AGAIN against Dennis! I love how he’s just disinterested in the Ojama user) Yuya and Reiji vs Leo Akaba (Although we joke about Leo a lot but we can’t deny that the build up to him was really good and when we finally see him duel, he completely dominates most of the duel and actually makes Reiji, one of the most powerful Duelists of the series struggle and if was just a father vs son duel, Leo likely would’ve won if that had happened)
While we knew Jack from Yu-Gi-Oh 5d's, he's another character in Arc-V. His duel against Yuya was so badass! "I'm gonna defeat him in 3 turns, first-I'll set the stage for my victory, then I'll let my opponent do some bad moves and then I'll show him why I am the one and only King!” then he called Yuya's performance abysmal! Definitely should be in honourable mentions since we've seen a Jack duel, but it wasn't this one.
Jack: "Listen up, Yuya. You call yourself a dueltainer? Well, here's my review: your performance was abysmal, mediocre at best. And I'm gonna bring the curtain down on you!" Also, I almost fainted when the dub brought back his duel and RDA theme.
I'm glad Ai's duel was on the list. It showed off brilliantly how batshit funking insane his carda are because they didn't say "once per turn" on any of his Ignisters.
Tbh I say from arc v the legacy characters Jack, Kite, and Asuka had 1 of the most bad ass debut duels. Reason: Jack won vs Yuya, THE FRICKING MAIN CHARACTER!!!! And Yuya haded 2 of his fusion monsters. Kite won against Sawatori, and Gong, he did that last OTK turn, and so has asuka winning against 3 juvenile officers. Plus part of the reason I love these duels, is because I love their ace monster that debut with them.
I feel like Saiou VS Prince Sora was very badass. The way he says the duel will end before his turn starts, and he beats Sora without getting a single turn is amazing. Saiou is underrated.
Couldn't be happier with the list! For me, I think my top spot for most badass debut duel changes depending on the context of how its ranked. In terms of pure power, its Shun for sure, that 3 duellist knockout was crazy. In terms of game skill, I think Kite takes the top spot preventing any hope of a comeback by disabling Yumas trap card at the end of the duel (though it is kinda funny Yuma talks LOUDLY about his plan to astral and then astral says "He knew, how did he know?!") In terms of ambiance I would put Neil's maximum summon at the top its such an incredible scene!
You know would Yuga Goha vs Yuo count technically? I would have had it here- the way Yuga Goha emerges from Swirly mid-duel is really chilling even now and then he proceeds to destroy Yuo in one turn. Pretty good stuff.
Ed VS Manjoume. But in a very bad way. Ed didn't get a single important win after Season 2. And I honestly completely forgot that Aoi hit her face in the floor but Ed's loss to Manjoume of all people was already humiliating, but losing to ojama yellow showed how the writers didn't care about Ed at all after Season 2. After that season, arguably one of the strongest duelists who beat Judai, Kaiser and DD became a bigger jobber than Aoi Zaizen.
Rin vs Yugo would be one I would mention as a badass duel. Yugo was undefeated up until that point and Rin comes in and destroys his D-wheel and his hopes and dreams in a almost completely one-sided duel and she actually got the win. Very badass. The only downside with this impressive debut duel is Rin do nothing else for the remainder of Arc-V and so this storyline was over before it began.
The Shun pick makes me really want a top 10 Yugioh finishers/last turns. Even if a Duel itself is lackluster if the Finisher is hype it can change one's who opinion on the duel itself. Case and point; Yuya vs Ruri and Serena. Yuya summoning Odd-Eyes Raging Dragon on the final turn makes that duel as hype as it is.
damn was kinda hoping for Dark Maliks to be mentioned lol Mai takes his Ra and seems in the lead, then he just fuckin chants and steals it and we see Ra for the first proper time and just *chefs kiss*
Also, I'd consider Kiryu's first duel in Boom Town or whatever the fuck technically a debut duel since it's the first time we see him as him, not controlled by the dark signer powers. This duel is so badass to me because of that fucking harmonica.
Zigfried vs Weevil and Rex is the 1 that I was expecting on the list. Definitely agree with the #1 pick. I would also include Dartz vs Yugi & Kaiba. He basically toyed with them for the better part of the duel. I would also include Aster vs Zane. Watching Aster basically toy with this character who we grew to see as one of the best all of season 1 was also pretty shocking to watch. And then when he did it with an Elemental Hero deck too was pretty insane.
Technically Ed/Aster's first duel was against Judai/Jaden, which he threw it just to test Judai's power, so it doesn't really count. But yeah. Seeing Ed beat Kaiser and then seeing the latter become the Hell Kaiser was amazing. Kaiser was kind of a mary sue in season 1 and I think him developing was amazing. And if it wasn't for that duel, that would never have happened.
@@x-mighty7602 Oh yeah, you're right. I forgot about that duel, since Aster really wasn't using his deck (just a deck he made with cards from the shop). So it literally was Aster's first duel in the series, but I consider his metaphorical first duel to be when he toyed with Zane. Such a memorable and impactful duel
Yeah Yugi losing should have been up there at the number 1 for a debut duel because nobody could expect the king of games to lose at all like there's nothing that can match that these brand new ones that come up before that one notch they need to be behind and for themselves but Raphael vs. Yugi should definitely been number one
My favourite part about Ai vs Queen was Ai's nonchalance towards everything. Queen sets up this nearly 'unbreakable formation', and when questions Ai asking if he seriously thinks he can break it, his response is just "sure, it'll be easy." Then she cheats & activates one of the most busted skills in Vrains, and Ai's response to that, after calling her out for cheating, is basically just 'oh no, anyway...' - he dominates her so badly that he effortlessly plays around her skill _during the Battle Phase_ and just proceeds to clap her as if she didn't just go back to 4000 & set any Trap Card in existence (which can also be activated that turn).
So, several things. First, I guess once I'm done with Sailor Moon, I'll go back and watch the Sub of Zexal since I finished that before I swore off the dubs and I don't remember that whistle moment at all. Second, I guess I'll get around to watching Sevens after that and go from there, even though I kinda gave up on the anime when Vrains was cut short. It's also a shame that Pegasus technically dueled Yugi so early on because I feel that the Pegasus/Kaiba duel was his real introduction as a duelist. Finally, justice for Shun. He didn't deserve to lose to Crow, Kaito or Yuya.
I am honestly surprised that the first duel in the entire series isn't here since it was the debut duel of Yami/Atem and how didn't look like a badass pulling Exodia on his last turn against three Blue-Eyes.
Hard agree on number one. The minute I saw this video, I knew that had to be the top of the list. Every part of that intro is just perfect. Also agree on his dub performance. Yugioh dubbed gets a lot of shit (some of it 100% deserved), but that particular casting was perfectly done, and I will die on that hill.
Kaito‘s first appearance is legendary, the way he enters the scene is unmatched. I would absolutely add the pharaoh from season 0, although his first appearance was not in a duel but a game…the music and „it’s game time“ always gives me goosebumps. Absolute badass
One I think you left off was crows first duel against the sector security guy in 5ds now I know the opponent takes alot away from it but in one turn he destroyed all his face downs and halved his monsters points in order to win with piercing damage from bora the spear with gale the whirlwind and sorraco the dawns abilities but compared to the rest of the duels it seems more like an honorable mention
For me my number one is the very first duel of the entire series Yugi vs kaiba just for the ending of the duel alone, kaiba going from smug to cowering when Yugi showed him Exodia was just perfect.
The Pharaoh gotta be at the top of this list, nothing beats suddenly changing your entire personality out of nowhere and growing a few centimetres before obliterating your opponent and crushing their mind xD
I’m surprised Z-one isn’t on the list. Duelling Aporia the first time, calling a 4000 atk monster weak, summoning only 0 atk monsters, winning only with effect damage, hand traps being introduced, no damage, and the music.
I love all Shun’s duels. His debut was awesome, he had no magic/trap cards he had no cards in his hand and still destroyed 3 of the most powerful Duelist at that point of the series in only 2 turns What a badass man he will always be my favourite yugioh character
What makes yutos duel so badass to me is how calm yuto is(and how he was just like "get one with the duel") that despite him drawing no monsters he was still able to use his opponents moves to set up his own, even going so far to say that they were so predictable that he thought it was a joke... Quick fun fact, some people think that shingo is a terrible duelist especially because of this duel despite him making the best moves he could with the hand he was given, he burned through his hand but still the best with what he had, it's the logic of you lost once so you're bad that is mostly seen in anime...
I don’t know if the Supreme King would have counted or not, but his first duel was showing of just how powerful he was. Even when he took damage he never flinched or anything. And technically never lost.
Not on the list, but Yugi vs Bakura in the Millennium World arc of DM should be at least an honorable mention. Anyone who thought Atem did all the work (like Bakura) got proven VERY wrong in that duel.
Some of the others I can think of that weren't on this list: Pegasus vs Kaiba: The way Pegasus manhandled Kaiba probably was one of the most terrifying things ever. (I feel like it could count since his first duel with Yugi was... A video and also inconclusive) Crow debut duel: While the opponents aren't super impressive, the way Crow enters the scene and completely destroys the security has always stayed with me. Especially since while we could tell how badass he was, we didn't know who Crow was or on whose side he was on. Akiza: Again 5Ds, but man. The Witch persona was terrifying.
0:13 "All of Yugioh" Yami Yugi vs Yami Bakura playing Monster World should be in this... at least the source manga version. Also, I am so proud of you for not including Yugioh DM's episode 1 battle between Yami Yugi and Kaiba because that was not the start of the story since it used their 2nd battle during Death-T for that battle.
10:31 Ok i didn't know about katio doing a whistle when he was about to duel yuma there. Like that was simmiler to death in puss in boots, same vibes honestly.
Personally I was fully convinced that Reji vs Yuya R1 (Reji's debut) and Specter vs Blue Angel (Specter's debut) would make the list since they were both just such dominating performances
I feel like Judai's debut could have placed on this list especially compared to the other protagonists. Absolutely trashing Chronos who is going significantly harder than the entrance exam should be.
I'd say Lotten in his debut duel in 5D's should be an honorable mention. The opponent is irrelevant as we never got to see how good the dude really was, but the guy just opened with one of the most op monsters ever. They even had to create Effect Veiler for Yusei just to give him something to keep up with that later on lol
Yugi vs Kaiba at Duel City should have been there: the fact that this duel alluded to their thousands and thousands of years of being competitive with one another, that this was by acclamation the decisive game that will determine who the strongest will be, that both players had used their god cards which were their trump cards and that Atem didn’t have to destroy all Blue Eyes’ but did so to crush Kaiba’s ego…. Badass.
I think what makes Kite’s duel so good is that he took no damage
And a pretty elaborate combo to bring out two number monsters at his first turn
And the main characters were shitting bricks just thinking about him for the next 20 eps
@@timothyskidmore1554I think it’s rather interesting to make the Number Hunter treat the Numbers he has won as a means to an end.
Even crazier is that Jack did EXACTLY what he said he was gonna do. I'm surprised this one isn't Top 5 tbh.
Jack: "Listen up, Yuya. You call yourself a dueltainer? Well, here's my review: your performance was abysmal, mediocre at best. And I'm gonna bring the curtain down on you!" Also, I almost fainted when the dub brought back his duel and RDA theme.
@@thedragonknightvolga4194 I paraphrase it all the time, when I'm winning in Master duel with a synchro deck.
@@viktorzahariev2485 Yep. Such an awesome moment
that fate to black and white on judais face when ryo attacks was masterfull
Zexal is my fav ygo series and this is literally one of the reasons why. From quattro, kite, misael and so on.
The Japanese version is such a great watch. Shame people's first impression was the awful English dub
Vrains is my favorite
@@ak47dragunov English dub is for those garbage American crap to watch. Not us
@Asher A true yugioh anime fans would never ever watched the dog shit dub
@@ak47dragunov I watched dub and I still liked it but man sub was something else. Quattro's introduction when he summoned number 15 was just so hype.
I'm glad Ai's duel was on the list. It showed off brilliantly how batshit funking insane his carda are because they didn't say "once per turn" on any of his Ignisters.
Also he's the only one who able to push Playmaker to the absolute limit. Also almost beat him clean. He did defeat him in the original ending
His power in season 3 already surpassed all the characters in the show including Playmaker
Crow vs sector security sets up crow so well the writers changed the plot. Back then otking through a 2k wall was no easy feat.
Wasn’t that an FTK? Either way, winning a duel in one attack like that was a pretty big deal, especially with a Lv 4 monster.
Couldn't be happier with the list!
For me, I think my top spot for most badass debut duel changes depending on the context of how its ranked.
In terms of pure power, its Shun for sure, that 3 duellist knockout was crazy.
In terms of game skill, I think Kite takes the top spot preventing any hope of a comeback by disabling Yumas trap card at the end of the duel (though it is kinda funny Yuma talks LOUDLY about his plan to astral and then astral says "He knew, how did he know?!")
In terms of ambiance I would put Neil's maximum summon at the top its such an incredible scene!
When you hear a whistle like Kaito's, dont even bother running.
You're done.
You missed Specter obliterating and psychoanalyzing Aoi in his debut
You know would Yuga Goha vs Yuo count technically? I would have had it here- the way Yuga Goha emerges from Swirly mid-duel is really chilling even now and then he proceeds to destroy Yuo in one turn. Pretty good stuff.
Kaito made everything in Zexal amazing and his debut destroyed Zexal's bad reputation
Yami Bakura vs Bonez (Zombie Kid)
"Would you like to have a shadow duel?😈"
That line haunted me ever since
Now I need the following video: Top 10 Most UNEXPECTED Duels's Results in Yu-Gi-Oh.
Kiryu vs Yusei
Ed VS Manjoume. But in a very bad way. Ed didn't get a single important win after Season 2. And I honestly completely forgot that Aoi hit her face in the floor but Ed's loss to Manjoume of all people was already humiliating, but losing to ojama yellow showed how the writers didn't care about Ed at all after Season 2. After that season, arguably one of the strongest duelists who beat Judai, Kaiser and DD became a bigger jobber than Aoi Zaizen.
Don thousand changing mizar's card be like:are you sure about that?
Rin vs Yugo would be one I would mention as a badass duel. Yugo was undefeated up until that point and Rin comes in and destroys his D-wheel and his hopes and dreams in a almost completely one-sided duel and she actually got the win. Very badass. The only downside with this impressive debut duel is Rin do nothing else for the remainder of Arc-V and so this storyline was over before it began.
Suprised Spectre vs Blue Angel isn't on the list, but turns out he dueled Kitamura right before that.
Foiled by that useless oaf again
The Shun pick makes me really want a top 10 Yugioh finishers/last turns. Even if a Duel itself is lackluster if the Finisher is hype it can change one's who opinion on the duel itself. Case and point; Yuya vs Ruri and Serena. Yuya summoning Odd-Eyes Raging Dragon on the final turn makes that duel as hype as it is.
12:34 Seeing Shun just obsinerate these three nob in one clean sweep is the most satisfying thing to witness
10:59 Yuma's screem aftar that daul ( japanese ver) is... 🕷️
Oh god!
damn was kinda hoping for Dark Maliks to be mentioned lol Mai takes his Ra and seems in the lead, then he just fuckin chants and steals it and we see Ra for the first proper time and just *chefs kiss*
I love seeing Kite and A.I. together in a thumbnail.
Also, I'd consider Kiryu's first duel in Boom Town or whatever the fuck technically a debut duel since it's the first time we see him as him, not controlled by the dark signer powers. This duel is so badass to me because of that fucking harmonica.
it doesnt stand up to the others, but seeing Bastion properly summon water dragon to hard counter Chazz was super dope
Sadly does not qualify
I recently was binge watching Arc V and when I saw Shun destroy the LDS trio on his next turn, my jaw had hit the floor. Shun had no mercy
To this day Kiryu's first duel against Yusei was awesome.
That duel is perfect
Zigfried vs Weevil and Rex is the 1 that I was expecting on the list. Definitely agree with the #1 pick.
I would also include Dartz vs Yugi & Kaiba. He basically toyed with them for the better part of the duel.
I would also include Aster vs Zane. Watching Aster basically toy with this character who we grew to see as one of the best all of season 1 was also pretty shocking to watch. And then when he did it with an Elemental Hero deck too was pretty insane.
They played ride of the Valkyries when Zigfried was trouncing rex and weevil in the Japanese version
Love the top 10! I’m surprised the zero turn duel in GX didn’t make it
Yeah Yugi losing should have been up there at the number 1 for a debut duel because nobody could expect the king of games to lose at all like there's nothing that can match that these brand new ones that come up before that one notch they need to be behind and for themselves but Raphael vs.
Ai just obliterate Queen in one single turn
What about Aster Phoenix?? He literally came outta nowhere and beat the most OP duelists in GX (zane and jaden) and it seemed like he was going easy.
I am honestly surprised that the first duel in the entire series isn't here since it was the debut duel of Yami/Atem and how didn't look like a badass pulling Exodia on his last turn against three Blue-Eyes.
A Top 10 Most BADASS Monster Debuts in Yu-Gi-Oh would be a nice top list
Hard agree on number one. The minute I saw this video, I knew that had to be the top of the list. Every part of that intro is just perfect.
Also agree on his dub performance. Yugioh dubbed gets a lot of shit (some of it 100% deserved), but that particular casting was perfectly done, and I will die on that hill.
Kaito‘s first appearance is legendary, the way he enters the scene is unmatched.
I would absolutely add the pharaoh from season 0, although his first appearance was not in a duel but a game…the music and „it’s game time“ always gives me goosebumps. Absolute badass
Garbage
I'd add zarc the fact he took out waves of opponents made him dangerous
PTSD from the whistle? No. Remembering that as the moment I found one of my new characters? Absolutely.
I know it isn't a debut duel but I just need to remind everyone of that duel where Yuri took out like 4 duelists at the same time with a single attack
i belive that vetrix vs kite is one of best duels ever
Yeah. I agree, but that was Tron's second duel (He dueled Droite before) so it doesn't really count.
Rafael made Atem turn heel, that makes him easy top 3
Love the list dyl I completely agree having seen all the yugiohs waiting on the latest go rush episode hyped for that too
Thanks so much man! And yes same!!
For me my number one is the very first duel of the entire series Yugi vs kaiba just for the ending of the duel alone, kaiba going from smug to cowering when Yugi showed him Exodia was just perfect.
The Pharaoh gotta be at the top of this list, nothing beats suddenly changing your entire personality out of nowhere and growing a few centimetres before obliterating your opponent and crushing their mind xD
garbage
Great video! Please do more top 10s like this, I absolutely love these. I have an idea for one top 10 most emotional yugioh duels.
Valon vs Rebecca and Duke. That'd be up there for me personally.
I’m surprised Z-one isn’t on the list.
Duelling Aporia the first time, calling a 4000 atk monster weak, summoning only 0 atk monsters, winning only with effect damage, hand traps being introduced, no damage, and the music.
This list feels so damn good. I really like yugioh alot.
I love all Shun’s duels. His debut was awesome, he had no magic/trap cards he had no cards in his hand and still destroyed 3 of the most powerful Duelist at that point of the series in only 2 turns
What a badass man he will always be my favourite yugioh character
What makes yutos duel so badass to me is how calm yuto is(and how he was just like "get one with the duel") that despite him drawing no monsters he was still able to use his opponents moves to set up his own, even going so far to say that they were so predictable that he thought it was a joke...
Quick fun fact, some people think that shingo is a terrible duelist especially because of this duel despite him making the best moves he could with the hand he was given, he burned through his hand but still the best with what he had, it's the logic of you lost once so you're bad that is mostly seen in anime...
My personal mentions: Jack (arc-v), Zone, Yuri, zarc, IV, Reiji, Mizael, nash, Yubel, both versions of crow
I don’t know if the Supreme King would have counted or not, but his first duel was showing of just how powerful he was. Even when he took damage he never flinched or anything. And technically never lost.
I’m so happy that first place is exactly what I had as the most badass debut
Not on the list, but Yugi vs Bakura in the Millennium World arc of DM should be at least an honorable mention. Anyone who thought Atem did all the work (like Bakura) got proven VERY wrong in that duel.
It would, but that wasn’t exactly Yugi’s first duel by himself. He did take part in duels by himself before that.
Some of the others I can think of that weren't on this list:
Pegasus vs Kaiba: The way Pegasus manhandled Kaiba probably was one of the most terrifying things ever. (I feel like it could count since his first duel with Yugi was... A video and also inconclusive)
Crow debut duel: While the opponents aren't super impressive, the way Crow enters the scene and completely destroys the security has always stayed with me. Especially since while we could tell how badass he was, we didn't know who Crow was or on whose side he was on.
Akiza: Again 5Ds, but man. The Witch persona was terrifying.
In response to your no. 2 spot, I only have 1 thing to say:
慚愧の用意は出来ているか??
0:13 "All of Yugioh"
Yami Yugi vs Yami Bakura playing Monster World should be in this... at least the source manga version.
Zexal was one of my favorite yugioh anime and I think Kite was one of the most intimidating characters in that series before we meet the other antags
I knew shun is going to be in the top
just kite whistling is terrifying
Kite rolls up like Omar from The Wire.
I very like Tron against Dextra in Zexal. I feel him damn creepy
Better See Luke in this top 10 XD
Luke VS Yuga in EP 2 is actually not one that came to my mind! It was a good duel for Luke but idk if it made him look super powerful necessarily
Kite is amazing. I loved this episode
Badass.
My boy shay being number 1 ofc🔥
I would also add declans duel against yuya to the list.
