You - in a rush? I have the Cone 6 book. I am going to mix up the variegated blue today and use a glaze called crème gloss over it. I do a lot of layering with the crème gloss. Love how excited you get. Kiln openings are the most exciting part of a potter’s life.
More beautiful glaze combinations, so beautiful! So glad you are busy, but sorry about your lack of clay. Your weather must be better than ours with your talk of cold drink on the beach!! No heat dome in BC this year thank goodness.
Amazing reds Vaughan 😍 I’ve just got back from the vets! Brendan my cat got into a fight with a stray cat and got a barley seed in his eye!! So I’m £308 pounds poorer having to pay Sunday price’s 🙁 You stay safe too 😊
@@Vsmithpots I think we have Lyme disease on the New Forest Dorset, but luckily not around the Down’s in West Sussex 😊 Brendan would be so frustrated kept in, so your lucky your cat’s are content inside. Have a great week Vaughan and hope you are busy with customers 😊
@@melrussell7830 My cats enjoy open windows but with all the predators here, foxes, coyotes, eagles, they are safer indoors. Our neighbours cat was carried off by a Bald eagle.
Vaughan - What a nice flow you have about the craft! I've thoroughly enjoyed watching your videos. WHAT are the combinations in 11:45-12:00 (looks like maybe licorice on the bottom and white liner glaze and rim dip.) Love those!
Beautiful, as always. Thanks for generously sharing knowledge and expertise so we can hasten our learning curve and avoid a lot of mistakes. When you say you glaze only halfway down the mug, I assume you mean with oatmeal, correct? Your mugs get fully glazed with tenmoku or blue, correct?
I love the turquoise glaze at the 17:17 mark. Any chance you’d divulge the source? I have John Brit’s book amongst others and would love to try it out here in Minnesota. Love your work. Cheers
Just beautiful! As always Vaughn!! Why is it that you don’t have clay? I can’t imagine not having clay!! Lol I have run low many times because there isn’t anywhere real close that I can get it but it literally makes me feel uneasy!!
You have a gloss on the very bottom centimeter or so. Is that due to burnishing there, or do you put clear (which miraculously doesn't stick) on the bottoms?
fyi - 30 yrs ago my teacher Noboru Kubo used to rebisque tea bowls that had been glazed and fired with randy's red. It changes the colour yet again, ( seems to me it was more orange...) worth trying a mug maybe
Glad the tourists are coming back! Beautiful glazed pieces! You are so prolific! Cheers! jw
Almost out of clay now and having trouble getting more, supply chain issues.
@@Vsmithpots Oh dear! What will we do! You have lots of inventory but the season has only just started. Hope that gets worked out soon!
I love all yours and your wife's creations! The colors are just beautiful!
Thanks.

Thanks, I am still thrilled when a gem comes out.
I am backordered on clay and glaze also. Wedding season orders and no product. A challenge for us all, I guess. Beautiful Kiln openings!
It seems my order will be shipped in a week. I am potting on fumes.
Warm beer! Lol! Big appreciation from Surrey (on the Thames) of course!!
Nothing beats a cold beer on a hot day.
What a beautiful kiln load!
Thanks.
Stunning as always! Truly inspiring! Thank you so so much!!
Thanks
Awesome colors, Great Job Vaughan !!!!
Thanks

I thought it was hot out there and moving this way.
@@Vsmithpots no, coolest spring and June in many many years. Not warm at all. I think Alberta has been hot tho.

Sorry to hear that, my cats are indoors so my only vet bills are annual check ups. We have ticks here so Lyme disease is also a local pandemic.

Liquorice with oatmeal on thick at the rim. Thanks. 15 minute soak at 2219F
amazing as always. love you videos and your way of presenting.
thank you
Thank you Allen.
Beautiful work. Love the red variation. Have you done a video on how you recycle your clay?
ruclips.net/video/muyly2avVdw/видео.html I did several on recycling clay, check back about two years.

Yes the first coat covers all.

Send me an email and I will send you a photo of the page in my glaze book
I like what are the your videos! Beautiful...
Thank you.
i am a huge fan of your work. I wonder where you got your turquise glaze.
I can email a photo of my glaze page. vsmithpots@eastlink.ca

Apparently there is a huge demand and the suppliers are roughly 3 months behind.
Love your work! I noticed you do not use anything under your big flat pieces like sand when you fire. Do you ever have them crack?
Cracks are rare and usually due to bad handling. The new shelves allow more even heating.
Do you have a website where we can purchase your AWESOME work?
The best bet is to view the showroom tour on the web site or send screen shots of pieces in the kiln openings. www.westcotebellpottery.ca
You have a gloss on the very bottom centimeter or so. Is that due to burnishing there, or do you put clear (which miraculously doesn't stick) on the bottoms?
I fire on stilts and I use many different glazes on the bottoms. Thanks
Love your mugs. Mine shrink to much. I cover them but still after firings seem to small. Any tips?
Thank you Vaughan
That is just the shrinkage rate which is usually 14%

I will give it a go.
what is your recipe for your clear that you said was satiny?
I’m sure you have answered this before, but what do you mean when you say a piece has been soaked? Thank you.
Soaking a kiln means holding at a certain temperature for a period of time, usually 15-60 minutes depending on your glazes.
@@Vsmithpots awesome, thanks.
Is the secret to the glaze running longer hold times?
Yes and be careful. I have been tweaking my firing schedule to match my glazes so test and be prepared to grind. Fire on stilts if you have any.
Is the apple green in mastering cone 6
It is in the video I just posted a week or two ago.
