Companies will pass the cost on to the customer raising costs of what is already overly priced fast food, loose customers that don't want to pay, and pull out of the market. I went to Chipotle today and noticed they increased prices by around 10% and they only had 3 employees during lunch hour, they usually have 6 employees during that time, increase in prices and reduction in staff, this will just push for automation and will keep prices high.

Then if there wasn't a line at lunch welllll.... Guessing business will be closing soon as well due to labor, rent, food costs, and lack of customers wanting to pay for higher priced meals. People better learn to cook at home fast, cause fast food may be no more.

Interesting spin by the media, in that the 20 hr wage is meant to help workers with children. However, NOR says youth pregnancy is at a 77% low. So WHO is this increase supposed to help?

Just like the union auto workers and UPS. Enjoy the raise while it last because they will find a way to eliminate your job... and they will. No fast food worker is worth $20 hr. It's a high schoolers job. Not meant to live on.

This increase will also help stimulate local economy and drive growth on local restaurants. I don't buy from fast food chains anymore. I only eat from local, small restaurants. The food is better and healthier anyway or I just cook for myself. For a long time, fast food chains prevented smaller restaurants to thrive and to start businesses. Support small businesses not corporations.

    • @FlosAng3les

Yeah but the problem is these local startup restaurants won’t be able to hire anyone for less that $20/hour. Same goes with already established local restaurants…They will have to up their wages as well….

Minimum wage is a learning wage!!! Small businesses are now going to die. For example, why would anyone want to work as an ambulance driver, warehouse worker, or a retail salesman if you can just flip burgers starting at 20! Yes, this will affect everyone.

When did fast food become a career?! In my day it was high school kids and an entry level position before you went on to get a real job. I guess unfortunately it was the only job uneducated black people could get so we of course have to pay them more than the job deserves. Unskilled Fast food workers in California are now going to make more money than skilled workers in other professions. We live in the bizarro world!
