      Jerry, I think Randy should make 2 sizes. I’m sure he would sell lots of them by the pair.
      Thanks for checking out the video.

    Another nice video Gary. Nice to see your genuine appreciation for other youtubers. I have seen lots of stuff built from scrap parts and metal but often it still looks like that. You made that flex shaft buffer look factory. Now you have me on the hunt for some of those trick forceps.

    That is a nice build on the buffer Gary. I have a 1951 Craftsman catalog that shows basically the same flexible shaft for a whopping $9.95. It says that the tread on the end is a 1/2 20 tpi. If yours is the same you could run a 1/2" threaded drill chuck if ever needed.

    • @OldIronMachineWorks
      @OldIronMachineWorks  3 года назад

      Andy, yes it is 1/2 20. When I got it it came with a Chuck already on it. $10.00 was a lot in 1951.

    I thought my CA stuff on my Monarch was big. That DA stuff is monstrous. You shouldn't have any flex out of a 2.5" diameter boring bar. It was cool to see other parts of your shop in the intro.

    • @OldIronMachineWorks
      @OldIronMachineWorks  3 года назад

      Tom, The DA stuff is definitely beefy. At some point I need to make some very large drive hubs for some gear boxes. 17 inch OD with 6 inch ID Holes 8 inches long. The 2 1/2 inch boring bar will come in handy. One of theses days I will do a walk through of my shop. Gary

    You have arrived,
    The RUclips community has accepted you. Man, you’re a bad ass machinist and the best cast iron repair man in the business.
    Hope to see you in June at one of the Sacramento Hobby Machinist meetings.
    Maybe Mike T will help talk you into coming by.
    Awesome video, always learn from your stuff!

    Hey Gary, really enjoy watching your videos, like your precision, but when welding [I am a weldor] all those bb's and spatter makes me go nuts.....sure looks like your voltage is too high from here in Florida......guessing you are using .035 wire with 75/25 ar-co2...... a real good setting for that combo is 160 inches per minute and about 18 volts.....that will give you 100 amps [1.6 inches per minute equals 1 amp for .035 wire]. [1 ipm = 1 amp for .045 and 2 ipm = 1 amp for .030]...you will get plenty of heat and a lot less spatter......hope you try out and let us Weldors out here know how you like.of course, crank the ipm and volts up for thicker material, but this setting works great for vertical and overhead, I got my D1:1 AWS structural steel unlimited thickness certification with this setting........ Best Regards, Paul Brown

    You have a great channel. I just can’t figure out where you put all that stuff. I need a surface grinder, but nowhere to put it. My wife said that she doesn’t care how much I spend, as long as I have a place to put it. That space does NOT include the dining room, the living room, kitchen, bedrooms or bathrooms, so I’m stuck in the basement, and the two car garage. I think she figured that out. Can you imagine? The sacrifices I make.
    Oh man. I have that same hemostat. Hmm, and other hand tools.
    Ok, so how do you keep all of these buffed parts from rusting again? After a few months mine start to get that look. I was thinking of removing them and powder coating them with clear, but that’s cheating, so I don’t know how I feel about that.

    • @OldIronMachineWorks
      @OldIronMachineWorks  3 года назад

      Thank you, I do have a Lotta stuff scattered in a few places. I’m lucky I do not have any moisture problems in my shop, but anything outside of my shop I do. There are many things you can put on bare metal to help it from rusting. But I generally do not have to worry about that. I appreciate you checking out the channel. Gary

    Hi, love the video looks like the 2ch needs a coat of paint. When I saw you at Chucks you mention you parted out the 2h, any chance you saves the oil pump in the sump? Dave

      Hi Dave! Paint, that sounds like a lot of work:)
      I did scrap out the 2H but I did save the pump. I have no idea what kind of shape it’s in but I did save it. I’m assuming your looking for one?
