      Hey there Pepe - much appreciated. Thanks for watching!

    Once again, you are plumbing depths of this device that I don’t think Akai even had in mind when they made it 😂 A testament to both your ingenuity and Akai’s.

      I’m not even sure what Akai had in mind with those macros. I think they were just like “let’s make every parameter in the system a target and see what people do with it.” Which is awesome.

      @@joefilbrun indeed. They should do something similar for modulation sources / destinations. They could break records

    I was just watching a doepfer a198 demo and this showed up on recommended. Thanks for saving me money.

      Ha, that’s a great story. The a198 will probably get you more precision. But might as well start with what you have and see what you can get from it. It might be enough!

    Thanks Joe, this is very creative. I haven't gottten around to using the X/Y pad yet but this got me thinking all kinds ideas...more to add to my messy list LOL.

      Hey @Poetic Noise. Yeah, that XY pad is kind of a monster. So many modulation sources built into it, and they can all stack on top of each other. And the modulation targets are pretty much everything in the Force. It feels like the possibilities are endless, but it’s also kind of a head scratcher just thinking about what you might want to even do with it haha.

      @Noise-Conductor Год назад

      @Joe Filbrun Wow, I didn't know they could be stacked. I'm gonna dedicate some time to mess around with.

    Hello, thank you for the great tutorial, I want to ask if you could advise me how to achieve on "XY pad" or "Pad Grid" or something else, switch 4, 8, 16 tempo hihat in hip-hop drum rhythms? it is also possible to increase and decrease the pitch of the hihat tone on the "XY Pad".

    • @joefilbrun
      @joefilbrun  Год назад

      Hey Dusan, thanks for that! You should be able to assign the sample coarse tune parameter of a drum pad to an XY pad to change the pitch. For the other one, I’d think about approaching it by recording 1/4 notes, and then putting 2 AIR delays on the insert FX for the drum pad. Set the first to an sixteenth delay, and the second to a eighth. Feedback at zero. Then set up momentary pad grids to control the wet/dry parameter. One to change the second delay mix to 50% (eighth notes) ,and the second to turn them both to 50%. There might be other ways to approach it too, but I think that would do the trick.

    Hopefully a simple question. How do you record this into a clip? I haven't found a lot of good resources for working with automation data in clips (recording and editing).

    • @joefilbrun
      @joefilbrun  Год назад

      Hey Eric, should be as easy as enabling record automation, which you can do globally by swiping down from the top of the LCD and pressing the big green button to turn it red

    How would you go around using this with modular? I mapped the x axis to cv out 1 and that into a 1v/oct, but the midi sustain wont work when routed to a cv track it seems.

    • @joefilbrun
      @joefilbrun  Год назад

      The sustain is a function of the synth. In this example, Tubesynth. Most modular oscillators should just drone, though and wouldn’t need this. If you’re using a semi-modular, maybe there’s an output jack for the oscillator that would let you bypass the VCA?

    • @Drozas91
      @Drozas91 Год назад

      @@joefilbrun yeah I can drone the modular synth by itself, but since it had some cc parameters I thought sustain would work. I did not think of using the vca for the y axis because I was using it for the drone itself. Turns out is way easier and I needed to map into that as you say. Thanks for the input.
