    I'm of full Jamaican heritage - UK born & raised, but now living in The Netherlands. Normally I would stay with family, but in terms of family there is virtually no one left on the island these past 10 years. Anyway, I stayed at this resort and absolutely loved it - the beach, the food, the staff. And yes, for a change I even met some nice Americans.

      Amazing! If you like snorkeling there is a great reef located in front of the Beaches resort.
      Eat at the food truck on the beach for great Jerk chicken.

      @@4frmhat the food was very good. We literally just got back from the Grand Palladium and I wish the food was like Iberostar. I’m also not picky but everything was good, fresh juices and fruit, many choices of meat including goat, and lamb. You’ll be fine with the food for sure. 👍

    How deep was the main pool?

    • @blinggirl613
      @blinggirl613  Месяц назад

      Yes there is a kids area on the beaches side. The cheaper of the three properties. We only went there twice as my 3.5 year old preferred the main pool and ocean.
      The main pool at its deepest is probably 5 feet deep give or take a half a foot.
      Hope this helps

    • @blinggirl613
      @blinggirl613  Месяц назад +2

      @ so there are the 3 resorts; Waves, rose Hall Suite and The Grand. We stayed at the Rose Hall suites.
      You can walk the property of the other resorts but unfortunately you can not get food or drinks at the other resorts.
      So great for a walk through or to access the casino but no fun if you can have a drink.
      We stayed at a place in Dominican like that. We stayed at the most expensive of the three and they still wouldn’t serve us.
      It’s becoming a more common practice.

    Hi
    I noticed you went up the stairs to get to the main pool, is there another way to get to that point if you're a wheelchair user?

    • @blinggirl613
      @blinggirl613  11 месяцев назад +1

      Yes! When you get to that bridge you actually can go either left or right and then you take the “scenic” route to the pool. Which is literally 2-3 minutes of walking.
      I saw several people with walker and one lady with a mobile scooter during our stay. I would definitely say it’s wheelchair accessible due to the elevators throughout.
      I’ll also mention there is an area in the pool the is a sloped entry that is easier for accessible challenged individuals.

    Well done video!!! Thank you so much for this. Me and my fiancée are going in Feb 2025 and we are super excited. Your tutorial made me feel like I was already there🥰 Question, do they have scooters that one can rent to get around resort for seniors and those with leg problems? also was there a shuttle from airport to there?

      @blinggirl613  2 месяца назад +1

      @kimcapies4276 thank you! I’m so happy you found it helpful. I have a few more videos, a walk at night and then a room tour.
      Yes there is a shuttle from the airport. The drive is maybe 25 minutes from the airport.
      Negative on mobility rentals. I did not see any rental for any walking aids. I would recommend they bring what they might need. There are elevators that are hiding all around the resort which can help, but no aids .
      Have an amazing trip!!! So jealous, in the best of ways!!

    • @blinggirl613
      @blinggirl613  9 месяцев назад

      @DonnaV3232 yes they all have hair dryers and bathroom necessities.
      They are a eco friendly resort so they have the larger bottles that stay in their holders in the shower and the tub. So they provide shampoo, conditioner and shower gel.

      @shavonehines it was not difficult at all to get reservations. Your butler will help you make all the reservations. It was the easiest place we have ever booked.
      Try and do them all, I know the Greek restaurant is only open like 2 or 3 nights a week. We ate around5:30-6 every night and it was not packed like other resorts we have visited.

    Nice video.. thanks for sharing. Do you have any negative feedback on this resort? I'm planning a trip. Is the beach rocky?

    • @blinggirl613
      @blinggirl613  10 месяцев назад

      The beach is absolutely beautiful. It has sea grass not sea weed.
      It’s the Caribbean Sea and super warm.
      I did get stung by a jelly fish but nothing alittle vinegar didn’t fix
      The sand is not fine like Cuba or DR. It’s like crushed up shells but no big rocks that prevent you from exploring without water shoes. In fact there is a great snorkeling spot not far from the resort. It’s inFront of the Iberostar Beaches beach. I’m sure you’ll see people snorkeling there. It’s worth exploring. I have videos with footage.

    • @blinggirl613

      They do have a decent gym, standard equipment. We did not venture that way ourselves but yes there is one. There are also tennis courts as well.
      There is also a hut to the left of the resort on the beach. This is were you can borrow the snorkel equipment, kayaks, and paddle boards incase you like water sports. All equipment is free to borrow and they give you 1 hr time slots to borrow it.

    • @blinggirl613
      @blinggirl613  9 месяцев назад +1

      @RachC1986 - in regard to allergies they do have a nurse and doctor on site heaven forbid he had a reaction. At all the a la carte they were vigilant about asking about allergies. I have a mango allergy and mentioned it and it was fine.
      As far as the buffet and cross contamination I can’t speak to. There is definitely sesame seeds in some breads and in one of the cream cheeses. However there’s definitely lots of food he would be ok with.

    • @blinggirl613
      @blinggirl613  10 месяцев назад +2

      Food is good. Lots of spice. The jerk chicken has some heat. At the buffet:
      Breakfast: standard items, bacon, eggs, hash browns, fruit, juices, pastry, and a Jamaican section.
      Lunch if you don’t eat at the beach food cart the buffet offers a solid lunch. Tons of choices, pizza, french fries, salads, soups, rice dishes, different stews.
      Book A La Cartes they were delicious.
      Didn’t do room service.
      I always recommend bringing pepto bismol chewable, just incase.

    • @blinggirl613
      @blinggirl613  10 месяцев назад +3

      @@DC-ym8km oh it would be an amazing trip for your birthday. I would rate it a 7-7.5/10. Nothing is a 10 for me.
      No major concerns, the biggest thing I can say is smaller details are looked over. So like there were some water spots in our room, the bathroom had caulking coming off and a broken outlet. So if you are picturing 5 star with no sign of use, remember this resort is over 10 years old. But again I’m just pointing out things that some might be bothered by.
      Bed was great, service was great, drinks and food always tasty. No bugs in the room, and the resort wasn’t crowded which made for an even better time.

      We went in Jan and it was great. Not overly packed. We always had options for chairs, pool side and by the beach.
      There were families but our daughter was one of the only kids. If you go in off times the kids are all in school. Lots of weddings when we were there.
      Great vibes around the pool. No the music is not on all day. Probably started at 10:30-11 until about 1, Then 2-5 pm. It was not a constant party at all.

    Interesting, how different the experiences can be. I had the worst holidays sofar in this place. All falls apart, if you look closer. The staff: some are engaged, some are desinterested and some don´t listen, what the client wants, they go their own way including the total useless room service. Crooked forks and knifes in the restaurants are standard. A waitress that took a cheese cube with her fingers to put it into a grinder, washed out plates in the italian restaurant, french food, which I thought was a bad joke and overall the highly annoying bawling chefs at the japanese site who thought entertaining the guests with loud senseless songs ("Old Macdonald had a rice...") is more appropiate than showing their teppanyaki skills. And yes - cockroaches! Thanks - never again!
