+Zezro stable ? + 1000 is a lot. I settled on +135 core and +400 memory clock. With the 960 raising the memory is more beneficial than core. If I don't touch memory, I can take my core up to around +160.
+Sebastian Russo if u have a 960, u might want to push ur mem clk a bit higher. u will probably have more drop core clk a bottl compensate. I get better frames in benchmarks w/ mem.

im building a pc which uses i5 4590 and gtx 960. i cant overclock cpu but im able to OC the 960. what is the chepest motherboard for my system on market ?
Get an asus h81m-k, I bought it for 35 pounds brand new and it has all the features you need I have a I5 4460 and a gtx 960 and I'm getting ultra on every game, its amazing
Got a Gigabyte Windforce oc edition 4gb i stop at 160 core clock and 130 memory clock my question is when i was testing with 3dMark at 180/140 there were no artifact but the test stop a little bit before the end but continue with the other test that didn't crash so is it because of the overclock or did it crash because i dind't boost the power enough ?
+Cédric Deschamps used unigine man to stress it out, i tried 3d firemark before, upto +175 and +500 and got score 7040 no crash no artifact, but when i tried unigine at extreme with 2 aa i got safe clock at +130 and +400 with power set to 107% beyond that i got artifact everywhere and then crashed my driver
Fu Chu Well firestrike extreme because i got the full version and i was thinking a 4k will put a lot stress but i will try what you told me thank you.
Cédric Deschamps i got mine too for purchasing this card, do you mean firestrike ultra? because extreme is not 4k thou, well i recommended unigine because u can monitoring with borderless and tweak it, i not recommend 4k test stress for this card, this card is not build to run newest game or benchmark tool on 4k u can still tried it thou, then i will ask how many fps u got for default oc? i cannot barely touch 10 fps
+simonolthenorwegian i have gigabyte windforce gtx 960 and i have +150 on core and +500 on memory , but its different for every user. thats reason for doing stability tests and slowly find your parameters , u cant just take some1 setting cause they wont at 70% work for you cause every chip is unique
will the gtx 960 be able to handle future titles? or should i burn a hole in my pocket for gtx 970? P.S .. i was thinking about pairing the gtx 960 with an amd fx 8350, so any cheap mother board that would be decent enough for this setup?
i got GPU up to +100 and the memory up to +600 with av 110% power boost. Now that I just got a new i5 6600k OC to 4.6ghz I'm going to see if i can go higher!
first i tried it crank up to core +160 or memory +500, i got artifact i used msi afterburner then finally i found safe clock without making any artifact so i i got core clock +130 and memory clock +400 power level 107% without raising voltage under heavy load using unigine my gpu temp up to 75c but when used firemark, max temp my gpu is around 65 is it safe?
+Wilmer Artvin Strange, cause for GTX TITAN X is safe temperature only 80°c and there will be no dramatic difference between these two cards at all (and for Fu Chu - you should icrease your fan speed and try to lower your temperatures , cause when u overclocked your card ,you icreased heat ,that graphic card will produce. It can be a bit more noisy but if u want to keep your card functionary you better do it . cause 90°c is maybe for AMD but surely not for NVIDIA
I hate jet sound on my pc XD No i think i will change my case fan 2x 120 mm intake and 1 exhaust 120mm + 2 x140mm make my system run a little hotter with negative air pressure, too much exhaust i guess
+PrototypeTheGamingHell I figured you do. My pc is a few years old but I recently bought a new graphics card and it still lags. I think it's the old cpu and 4 gbs of ram that's causing the lagging so I just decided that I should get a new pc with all new parts. The motheboard only supports like 8 gbs total so I'll just sell my current pc. Someone who doesn't play games might be able to use it.
+Alan Lightner I wont have use of it ._. I know you didnt mean it to me. But I'll buy a pc with Case - InWin 703 Svart MB - ASUS A68HM-PLUS CPU - AMD Athlon II X4 860K 3.7GHz PSU - Cooler Master B2 500W RAM - Crucial 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 CL9 1600Mhz Ballistix Sport SYSTEM - Windows 10 Home Swedish 64-bit OEM Wireless dongle - ASUS USB AC56 Watercooler - Corsair Hydro H55 Corsair Hydro H55 HDD - Toshiba 1TB 7200rpm 32MB GPU - MSI GeForce GTX 960 4GB Gaming
+PrototypeTheGamingHell Damn, yeah my pc isn't that good. I bought the EVGA version of the 960 though. Cpu is an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.40ghz and I only have 4 gbs of ram like I said. It's an old Dell XPS 720 machine lol I'm not the one who built it but my old computer teacher gave it away in this auction we had that uses fake money for almost like a reward every marking period. So I went all in on it hahaha He made it like a work place and pretended to pay us which was pretty cool to be honest.
+Alan Lightner By fake money I meant like he printed out pieces of paper that had Cisco dollars written on it haha I didn't want you to think that he actually prints dollar bills and uses that lol
Hey guys, can anyone explain what happened to my PC? I increases core clock bit by bit followed by applying each time. Basically nothing changed *monitoring elements), but my PC went off for a couple of seconds, got back on and I got notified in the sown right corner: ''driver was ..... and has recovered successfully.'' Like I said, monitoring seemed normal and far away from maximum.
+AeonzAgaze It depends on how sensitive you are to framerate. The GTX 970 is considered to be the standard for Virtual Reality, but an overclocked 960 can definitely run it. It just won't run it as well as a lot of people want.
+Anton Sim I get an avg of 278 FPS in CS:GO without overclocking, so there is a big problem. Check your processor and RAM to see whether or not it's bottlenecking your GPU. You may have gotten a bad graphics card just out of quality control issues. If you can't find the solution in software or any of your other parts then you should call support.
I got 1482 GPU 3610 Mem at a max of 52DegC with no voltage boost on a EVGA GTX 960 SC (not SSC, just SC). Stable in every game I tried. Any higher and I would get little artifacts. The funny thing is, there's a few little glitches in the Heaven benchmark. I thought they were from my overclock so I kept second guessing my numbers until I watched this and saw the same glitches in your video.
+jason moreno not all cards are the same. Every gtx 960 (any same gpu) is different when it comes to overclocking. Some get a high overclock, while some get a low overclock. try and fiddle with the settings until your overclocking program crashes. once the overclocking program crashes, tone back your overclock until it doesn't crash. happy overclocking! :D
+Resilience _ i have located the problem! i was using a low resolution screen so the cpu thinks i dont need the high gpu and was using the built in gpu intel provides, now my average fps is 60 on the same setting as the video! now it will be time to overclock!!
jan raleigh Graphs will always fluctuate because how much is demanded from your GPU can vary, even within the same game. A stable overclock means that your overclock runs smoothly and doesn't cause crashes or any other errors.
Own Malkawi if you have a 960 you don't want to max out settings -_- but mine has a 1530 mgz clock and a +500 memory clock still plays gta 5 like a boss
Should i get the Asus GTX960 black edition 2GB or Asus GTX960 strix 2GB? What is the difference.(im not considering the 4gb model because it i waste of money).Correct me if im wrong. Thanks in advance :)
To be honest 4GB cards are a good investement into the future. While the gtx 960 are not so good at resolutions above 1080p (they are intended for solid 1080p gaming), games are become more demanding in the VRam area due to high resolution textures etc. Assassins Creed Unity as an example: with 2gb you can only set textures to low. For medium you already need 3gb for a smoth experience. And ultra requires a 4gb card as it uses about 3.6 to 3.7 gb as far as I know. Not all games will require that much of course, but the number of games benefiting from more than 2 GB is increasing. So I would highly reccomend a 4GB card. Gonna get a 960 4gb myself as my gtx660 just isnt up to the job with titles such as AC Unity or Syndicate anymore.
get a 1050ti its much better and has a 4gb graphics memory and costs around 100 bucks or less adn the standard 1050 costs the same and has lower performance

+Zezro stable ? + 1000 is a lot. I settled on +135 core and +400 memory clock. With the 960 raising the memory is more beneficial than core. If I don't touch memory, I can take my core up to around +160.
I got my core to 200 and memory to 375 using NZXT's overclocking software but I've yet to test it out while gaming!!
+Sebastian Russo if u have a 960, u might want to push ur mem clk a bit higher. u will probably have more drop core clk a bottl compensate. I get better frames in benchmarks w/ mem.
yes we all are but it will burn the card
i got it all the way up to +260 on coreclock then I put it on 270 and my fps dropped to 15-25 and wouldnt go back up after putting back to 260 then i restarted my pc and it was fixed, what happened???
That happened to me too, i think that's a safety thing :)
Its a safety feature. Your lucky it came back after re-boot, I had to re-install OC Guru
You underclocked it.You went too far
Can I just do exactly what you did with an ASUS GeForce GTX 960 2GB Mini?
what if the game is stuttering? does overclock it will fix the issue?
any u check zotac gtx 960 4gb amp edition couse its overclocked already will it be wise choice to OC !!!
Why if i set Power limit (%) to 108, Core Clock (mhz) +75 and Memory clock (mhz) +300 my PC crash? i have a 600w of PSU and windows 10, when i launch a game, after i played like 5 minutes it freezes and i need to restart the PC through the case button :/ why? I need to reinstall or install a lastest version of my OS or i need to change the PSU?
it is maybe becouse of cooling
+andrea68707 i dunno what cause of that, what brand are u used? i used Inno3D
and managed to set power limit 107% core +130 and memory +400
i run throu unigine and firemark without making any artifact
some brand have different overclock setting
My is a ZOTAC, is a good graphic card without overclocking too, but you know, i want the boost D: hahaha btw the problem is the driver, crash the driver and so freeze the game and i need to restart the PC... is the cause of high overclock no? So... how i must adjust my oc options? Now i have boosted only the ram to 7200 (1800 x 4) basically is 7010
When I overclock my GPU nothing happens. The core clock speed doesnt change and neither does the memory clock. Help please?
i figured it out dw
Does this Work with normal gtx960 2gb
Thank you for showing me how this works, always wondered.
Hi I have some questions can you pm me? I overclock higher then you but I dont see difference to fps. P.S Heaven Benchmark doesnt work. *error* MSI GTX 960 2gb ddr5 here
+ger hard you oced to hard
RGOC, I can't seem to be able to change the power limit. Any suggestions?
hey so i'm new to this I got +180 core clock +100 memory clock Ithe highest I got was 79% power, my gpu drivers crashed at 220 core clock but is a +100 memory clock all I need?
You cant take it high as you want if it crashes take it down 20 or 30MHz...
What do you mean by unstable (at 8:04)? Was the framerate unstable or was there artefacts?
+Viktor unstable means that there is fps drops , artifacts , freezing or crashing....,graphic card just doesnt work right
can you help me with my gtx 960m on my notebook? I would like to know what are the safe settings for it to run at best
and to be safe? 960m with an i7-4720HQ
You can't. You are using a laptop. They are too small to cool down on standard clocks so it would be dangerous to do it
+TheMysteriousKnight what do you mean I just did it went from 30frames to 50-60 on rust
Cruz overheating...
RIP
+TheMysteriousKnight well stays at 70-75c
im building a pc which uses i5 4590 and gtx 960. i cant overclock cpu but im able to OC the 960. what is the chepest motherboard for my system on market ?
Get an asus h81m-k, I bought it for 35 pounds brand new and it has all the features you need I have a I5 4460 and a gtx 960 and I'm getting ultra on every game, its amazing
thanx for answer man u hemed me a lot
+Colum Devlin we have same rig (Y)
+sHroomy ^_^
My 960 EXOC without overclock stay on 1443MHz, it is a TechLab Edition and I think they were only sold here in Brazil.
Hey hello nice video but i have a question can i use ASUS GPU TweakII for overclocking my gtx 960 STRIX 4GB
+Cédric Deschamps used unigine man to stress it out, i tried 3d firemark before, upto +175 and +500 and got score 7040
no crash no artifact, but when i tried unigine at extreme with 2 aa
i got safe clock at +130 and +400 with power set to 107%
beyond that i got artifact everywhere and then crashed my driver
Fu Chu Well firestrike extreme because i got the full version and i was thinking a 4k will put a lot stress but i will try what you told me thank you.
Cédric Deschamps i got mine too for purchasing this card, do you mean firestrike ultra? because extreme is not 4k thou, well i recommended unigine because u can monitoring with borderless and tweak it, i not recommend 4k test stress for this card,
this card is not build to run newest game or benchmark tool on 4k
u can still tried it thou, then i will ask how many fps u got for default oc?
i cannot barely touch 10 fps
I have the refference GTX 960. Who else has it, and what do you reccomend on OC'ing
Each card is different and will act different when over clocked, you can't just use someone else's settings
ok
+simonolthenorwegian i have gigabyte windforce gtx 960 and i have +150 on core and +500 on memory , but its different for every user. thats reason for doing stability tests and slowly find your parameters , u cant just take some1 setting cause they wont at 70% work for you cause every chip is unique
Hi i have h81 gamer motherboard can i change my gtx960 twinfrozers core clock via afterburner.
Yes it's by the software
Is motherboard important to o.c screen card
+Emre Kaygısız Motherboard is a need thing you have to have a fucking motherboard...
EXOC model isn't already overclock ?
will the gtx 960 be able to handle future titles? or should i burn a hole in my pocket for gtx 970?
P.S .. i was thinking about pairing the gtx 960 with an amd fx 8350, so any cheap mother board that would be decent enough for this setup?
+Piyush Sharma 970a-ud3p
+Piyush Sharma No cheap motherboard ! the fx 8350 fucks it up
The 960 can hold its end for future games bro. Just get the FTW edition and you will be good to go for sure
Jesse Un Low Budget Mainboards+8350=Fuckd up PC
Can i use youre settings if i have the same card ??
if i set a custom fan curve does that void the warranty?
+ruhan ahmed I'm pretty sure it doesen't matter just do what he does and your good to go
So is the oc edition allready overclocked?
What happens if you put fan speed all the way up?
Megadoomable you will become deaf
hey bro! how i changed temp limit? max 89c is okay?
I manage to overclock my memory clock +500 on my gtx 960 , with no problems
i got GPU up to +100 and the memory up to +600 with av 110% power boost. Now that I just got a new i5 6600k OC to 4.6ghz I'm going to see if i can go higher!
Is it okay if GPU usage is on 99 most of the times?
If you playing with demanding titles, it's okay.
first i tried it crank up to core +160 or memory +500, i got artifact
i used msi afterburner
then finally i found safe clock without making any artifact
so i i got core clock +130
and memory clock +400
power level 107%
without raising voltage
under heavy load using unigine my gpu temp up to 75c
but when used firemark, max temp my gpu is around 65
is it safe?
+Fu Chu As long as the temp is under 90 celsius its safe
+Wilmer Artvin Strange, cause for GTX TITAN X is safe temperature only 80°c and there will be no dramatic difference between these two cards at all (and for Fu Chu - you should icrease your fan speed and try to lower your temperatures , cause when u overclocked your card ,you icreased heat ,that graphic card will produce. It can be a bit more noisy but if u want to keep your card functionary you better do it . cause 90°c is maybe for AMD but surely not for NVIDIA
I hate jet sound on my pc XD
No i think i will change my case fan
2x 120 mm intake and 1 exhaust 120mm + 2 x140mm make my system run a little hotter with negative air pressure, too much exhaust i guess
+Fu Chu yeah, good air flow is basic :)
ermm can you upgrade for any brands?
Does ram have a dramatic effect on gameplay? Because at the moment I have 4 gbs and Fallout 4's recommended is like 8 gbs of ram.
You have to have the recommended ram or the gane will crash or not even start. Most game uses 4-8gb ram so its good to have 8gb ram
But I'll buy a pc with
Case - InWin 703 Svart
MB - ASUS A68HM-PLUS
CPU - AMD Athlon II X4 860K 3.7GHz
PSU - Cooler Master B2 500W
RAM - Crucial 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 CL9 1600Mhz Ballistix Sport
SYSTEM - Windows 10 Home Swedish 64-bit OEM
Wireless dongle - ASUS USB AC56
Watercooler - Corsair Hydro H55 Corsair Hydro H55
HDD - Toshiba 1TB 7200rpm 32MB
GPU - MSI GeForce GTX 960 4GB Gaming
Basically nothing changed *monitoring elements), but my PC went off for a couple of seconds, got back on and I got notified in the sown right corner: ''driver was ..... and has recovered successfully.'' Like I said, monitoring seemed normal and far away from maximum.
you helped me alot but how do you know when you hit your max memory clock?
artifacts show up
What is artifacts
Can i overclock my gigabyte gtx960 windforce OC editon to be vr ready?
+AeonzAgaze Nope only the gtx 970 is able to be VR ready... yea bummer I know
It's possible yeah
+AeonzAgaze It depends on how sensitive you are to framerate. The GTX 970 is considered to be the standard for Virtual Reality, but an overclocked 960 can definitely run it. It just won't run it as well as a lot of people want.
MSI`s gaming app has e feature called "OC mode". Does this do the same as this?
No it does not and that app only works for Msi cards refreashed...
+PrototypeTheGamingHell oki, thanks
+PrototypeTheGamingHell No it works on most cards..... with the exception of apu's of course.
i have 960m and its lenovo y700 will it be overclock able
I wouldn't overclock a mobile gpu, the cooler in the laptop is not designed to handle it
Every jusf stopsd working help its frozen
does this work on the Palit GTX960 Jetstream 2048M ?
why i cant play cs go in 60 fps somethimes it lags i have a msi 960 white edition 2gb oc edition
My cpu is the intel pentium g3258 and my ram is 4gb kingston hyperx
***** Do you have any programs running in the background while you play CS:GO?
+Kanoajb none only cs:go itself
***** You shouldn't be getting bottle-necked below 60 FPS. Try reinstalling CS:GO. If that doesn't work go to a forum with lots of experienced people.
I got 1443MHz on GPU and 3500MHz Mem on my GALAX without overclock, I think I don't need to do anything kkkkk
I don't understand what you mean with the "sweet spots"
I think it means that you need to find the "perfect" spot for the core and the memory to be stable.
MY OC = GPU 1450 MHZ Memory 4000MHZ (Why only 3500 MHZ ?)
i have a GTX 960 4GB... and im getting 16 FPS on Arma 3...
What's your asic quality?
i have the same card as you do but im only getting 3fps with the same setting you did before i over clock it.
anything im doing wrong?
I can t drag down my memory clock pls help!
They cant void a warranty for working on your purchased item there was a huge lawsuit
Are you better of just having a 770?
***** yes
guys i could only get +15 on core clock... weird
hey iam trying to oc mine how do you know if its your top clock?
jan raleigh and how to know if its stable ? if the graph is straight?
jan raleigh Graphs will always fluctuate because how much is demanded from your GPU can vary, even within the same game. A stable overclock means that your overclock runs smoothly and doesn't cause crashes or any other errors.
do i need a specific motherboard to overclock my gtx 960 ?
No, but you have to have a motherboard that is capable of overclocking. Most motherboards are capable of overclocking so you are probably fine
no you stupid that's only for cpus you can oc your gpu in any mobo
so much knowledge i gained in the last 3 months and my question right there was pretty retarded
and bobby thanks anyways lol
and yeah i bought strix 960 i was disappointed because 960 is really bad for latest games if you wanna max out settings
Gonna get a 960 4gb myself as my gtx660 just isnt up to the job with titles such as AC Unity or Syndicate anymore.
get a 1050ti its much better and has a 4gb graphics memory and costs around 100 bucks or less adn the standard 1050 costs the same and has lower performance
what about throttling ?
im not sure if something is wrong but i overclocked it at 1000 memory and core clock speeds wtf
+marten it depends at what software did u used ,and if u even changed settings or just typed it ...
Yea it was bullshit I said 1000 on both but it reset after
Does how much you overclock to get optimal performance change between games?
i reached a sweet spot of 225 core clock and 160 memory clock on a GTX960
u should let core clock bellow 200 and u can increase memclock
i3 3220
Palit GTX 960 oc.
8gb ddr3 ram
Any guide?
+cuim dungo shoulda upgrade your CPU, its already bottleneck, you wont get any noticable improvement from Overclocking your GTX960
Can i up this one.
i5 6600
Palit Gtx 960 2gb oc
8gb ddr4 2400mhz
woa, it took me 4 months to upgrade tho haha
cuim dungo It'll be a nice upgrade :)
Yea haha. Also, i got the new rig lucky me haha. Is overclocking my Palit Gtx 960 2gb oc good to go now? haha
cuim dungo yep, still.. might only upped around 4-5 fps most :)
you dont consider upgrade? since rx1060 & rx480 is so hyped right now lol
THX to much it works so much for me about 5-10 fps on gta 5 on ultra graphics ty
lol
for this card i pref ASUS GPU Tweak II
