Nice tribute, but the headline implied it was now out of use and rusting away. I am so glad this magnificent structure is still active.
you'd think the cbc would be above click bate ...since covid all our trusted news channels stoop to lower and lower levels
What a great piece of history. We need more trains crossing Canada instead or trucks and cars.
Carrying people too :)
thats for sure
I came here to say exactly this.
I’ve walked it, I’ve cross country skid under it and flown over it. Very impressive structure.
Atlantic Canada is so beautiful.
I've lived here in Fredericton for the last two and a half years. I confess it's not the Southern Ontario (London, Toronto) I'm used to or intoxicating like Vancouver or even Calgary.....but it's growing on me. It's very rural, that's for sure but it certainly has its charms.
As a railfan/ model train enthusiast this is amazing!
Thanks for sharing your video. Watching with full support from Canada 🇨🇦.
This country needs to support more rail travel, invest into rail and shipping more goods by rail.
The auto industry is too powerful... they do everything in their power to diminish the rail industry.
The gentleman that built the model is almost 100 years old! Still plays with model trains! Never grow up, you’ll live longer! 😃
i gotta admit, i didn't know about it! nice bridge!
That bridge was completed ahead of schedule and within budget .
Would love to see this bridge!
What a cool topic. Awesome model that gent build too
We had a twin rail line going by in my area and for some reason one line got removed..now it's a single rail line remaining. Seems like our infrastructure is falling apart and not being replaced.
In the 70's, I worked with a Ray Christianson on the south side of Chicago. I may be spelling the name wrong but I wonder if there's any relation.
Surprisingly many such bridges were built over valleys in Britain. Most are now gone. Martin Zero here on RUclips has had a look at what little remains of some of them, sometimes in remarkably isolated places.
I have never been here or have ever seen this bridge that I can recall. I have lived in the Gagetown Fredricton area for a few years. I am from Liverpool Nova Scotia and grew up next to a passing train daily and the bridge was the favourite swimming hole on the Mersey River. From that I have always been fond of trains and bridges. It is sad the bridge is not celebrated more.i live in Lethbridge Ab currently and it is commonly referred to as Bridge city by many local businesses. Celebrate your bridge. Use it draw tourists. I can testify to the awe of watching a long train cross over a long trestle bridge.
I’m from Massachusetts and now live in Georgia. I miss hearing the French Canadian accent.
Most of the rail track has been turned into walking and running trails. There is two active train tracks still being used by trains. The other one goes to Saint John city
Nice to see a positive story in the news something we need more of.
Same as the one in Lethbridge Alberta
You ought to see the Gavin Creek Bridge in North Dakota. Also Two Medicine Creek bridge in Montana. Engineering landmarks that are scarcely known.
What is wrong with the title, why is it “almost forgotten?” The video indicates it is used plenty!
Canada the beautiful
The information in this is somewhat incorrect the battle River Trestle located west of Wainwright Alberta was the largest in Canada until the Lethbridge viaduct was built as it was 1400m long the west end of the bridge was made of wood and was filled with dirt and ballast in the 50s to shorten it to 860m. The wooden trestle is still buried today
No, "at the time" in 1911, it was the second next to the Battle River trestle, before the Lethbridge structure was built.
Beautiful
New Brunswick, the friendliest province on the entire Canada
British Columbia says "Let me hold your beer".
Lol not true at all, I lived here my whole life and I know it’s true colors. Everyone is working hard in NB while the job market is pretty poor, and our salary ain’t very good neither so that doesn’t really make us living friendly, if so well it’s a ‘2 face welcome to our shop’ thing
Depends on where you are coming from.
Having moved here from Ontario, I have been surprised by the animosity directed towards me.
What about same style bridge in Lethbridge Alberta.
Longer and higher
I live in Fredericton and I had no idea this train bridge exists.
Awesome view well train hopping 👌
My vote for greatest story of the year.
The reason the train runs so frequently across this trestle is because they didn’t ask Irving where to build it, leading to a mess like they have in Saint John with Harbour Bridge
Imagine one derailed that would be something
1:31 epic
The guy climbed the bridge when he was a kid? Stomach churning to say the least
Lóvé.you
CANADA.super
lets hope its properly maintained, unlike what goes on south of the border.
You kremlinbots just need to go away. Isn't getting your butt kicked in Ukraine enough? Seriously, the civilized world has had enough.
Troll alert, troll alert. LOL
0:47 “But today locals feel like the sprawling structure is their best kept secret”
And you ruined it.
POV: You are try to find the Railfanner comment in this video
DownieLive traveled from Florida to Alaska he's probably crossed it.
Not unless he traveled on a freight train. No passenger trains on that line.
That's an odd assumption. You're not likely to go through New Brunswick if you're going from Florida to Alaska.
@@juliansmith4295 DownyLive went across Canada by rail last year. No trains in Newfoundland so it was boats and cars.
Check it out on his RUclips channel, it was a good series.
@@iancanuckistan2244 I've seen it. Thank you.
Lethbridge has entered the chat
Time for 10,000 Instagram selfies.
Very cool, however why did we stop building? The Ambassador bridge in Windsor for example, there needs to be second bridge, long over due.
They are building it right now
The Ambassador bridge is privately owned (crazy right?) The owner fought any new bridge or crossing tooth and nail because it would cut into his revenue stream!
2MUCHO !!
Feet? I thought Canada used metric
We use metric and still think in Imperial (at least my generation does).
We're a weird mix.
Only when forced to use it
Japan has trains that can travel at 500k/ph to 600k/ph Since the 1960's.
How don't we have that in Canada from Vancouver to Halifax?
Not enough population.
If Canada made a high speed rail from Van to Halifax that single line would be more km of high speed rail than Japan has made since they started.
Population and country size make direct comparisons tricky.
@@hhiippiittyy There will never, never, high speed trains in Canada except maybe Toronto to Montreal. Period.
There's barely any business done between those two cities. Maybe do Vancouver to Seattle, Halifax to Boston
@@greathodgy22
And maybe a few around southern ON. Ottawa to TO? I could definitely see Ottawa in the mix, if anywhere.
The idea of one from Van to Halifax is crazy. Calgary to Edmonton in the next 50-100 years maybe, because the terrain is easy, though still unlikely.
depressing that Canada neglected our railways and instead chose car infested infrastructure.
Take it down...! It's an eye sore
I'll bet you're not much to look at either... likely worse.
Montreal is the better than your city because I live there. HshahahahahahahahhhahhahahahahhahahahhahahhaahhaahhahahahahahahahhahahhahahahahahHHHHHhYhHHHHHHhhHHahhahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahajhajahajha
Psych,!
