- Rick Caruso has flooded the airwaves with his mayoral campaign, so let's take a closer look at who he is, what he stands for, and why he is terrified of subways.

SMALL CORRECTION: While California as a whole uses the top-two primary system, the 50+1% rule to bypass the general election is specific to LA municipal elections only (including this mayoral race).
YOOO HYPED FOR HIS NEXT METRO UPDATE VIDEO!!!
Same
Now that Karen Bass has won, what should we do to voice our concerns of making LA less car dependent and accelerate the transit projects already in planning and the ones that aren't on measure m?
Great video!! I just dropped my ballot in the mail yesterday. Soooo excited to cast my vote for Gina Viola, Kenneth Mejia & David Kim!
Great video! I would just like to point out that in answer to the debate you showed, the LA Metro literally just published a The Source article today about the significant improvements they are making already for their bus service and more in the future. Also side note; Id much rather have Ted Dansen as mayor of Los Angeles at this point.
The Caruso line has just been canceled
Devil's Advocate: What is Karen Bass's plan to address the homelessness crisis? Last I heard it was similar to Garcetti's.
Due to a court ruling, it is unconstitutional to ban camping on public property. That is, there is no solution to the homeless problem. Anybody who says they have one is lying.
@@Geotpf LA actually has a no camping ordinance. It is not currently enforced. Let's see if the future mayor is able to enforce it given the court ruling. The real solution to homelessness is more housing-first policies and more affordable housing stock, but the political will for that just isn't there sadly.
Hell yeah for Gina!
You should turn on monetization for this video now that the election is long over
I’m pretty sure the bit about getting 50%+1 or more in the primary means you win the general election is wrong. Unless this is some weird local rule, the only position that rule applies to is the Superintendent of Public Instruction.
Edit: yes this is a local rule. This is not a state wide thing.
Yes double checked and it is LA-specifc, not statewide. That is an error on my part, thanks for pointing it out. I'll add a correction in the description. It still applies to the race in question however.
Great video. That is such a weird little loophole of our voting system, thanks for bringing attention to it.
Watching this while waiting for the election results to come in.
P.S. Karen Bass Won, now Angelinos will have to hold her to the transit projects.
I've been able to escape the Caruso ads, but I have been getting them for Cedillo 😑🙄
6:05 Rick Caruso for Elevated Rail LET'S GOOOO
Hell get us the shitty monorail
You won't even go on the Sepulveda Line if it gets a dodgy monorail
Nicely done ❤️❤️❤️
Me watching from New York, confused about the shitshow I’m hearing about from across the country:
It's not like our dickhead mayor is much better than Caruso. Should have been Stringer or Garcia.
Oh yeah your mayor is great🙄🤡
@@gabriell.4440 I know, not particularly great, not really good, but not terrible compared to Cuomo.
Wait, what? NYC loves rich authoritarian men in political positions. Voting Caruso almost feels like following in NYC’s footsteps. He’s almost like a NYC mayor.
@@savvysearch Yeah, and the few decent ones who actually give a shit are always tarred by conservative media and followed by someone who sucks shit. It happened with Dinkins, it happened with De Blasio, and it'll happen with whoever follows our current idiot.
What are your down ballot primary recommendations?? Researching elections to find the best option can be really tuff as a progressive 😮💨
I'll refrain from making city council endorsements, because my company is producing a film about those races, but there are a lot of great primary guides from orgs like Knock LA and DSA for progressives to get you started. For other city races, I can recommend Kenneth Mejia for controller and Faisal Gill for city attorney.
@@nandert Thank you! Angelenos everywhere appreciate your work!
I’m just hoping the new mayor fixes the metro’s issues and makes it actually good to ride.
I voted for Bass, because I will never vote for a rich guy.
Hey! , if it works for LA then maybe it'll work for the whole of America!
Nick, can I PayPal you for these videos? They're GREAT!
Very kind offer, but no need. I've got a good job in the doc world and can keep making these without issue.
Ill vote for caruso. I hope he gets the 50% right away. Karen bass has been a career politician that cant accomplish anything beneficial to the community. Its all about kickbacks for her. Lets go caruso!
As someone who voted Caruso who is a moderate democrat I didn’t vote for him because he was a great candidate. I voted for him because he was better then Karen bass aka the female Garcetti.
Imagine eating shit because you don't wanna eat pineapple pizza
His ads scream I'm fake. I really didn't feel like digging into him because I don't vote in LA and I didn't want even more ads.
ah the old criminals and homeless are ruining our great city.
Can’t wait for Caruso to win
YOOO
Get ready for rick caruso as you’re next mayor
Karen Bass won the LA mayor election.
