If you know where there is a bunch of little crab holes in the ground at low tide, bury a bucket so the top is flush with the ground and the space between bucket and ground is filled in. Put fish head in bucket. Leave the area, but come back before incoming tide to get your bucket full of crabs.
Preheat oven to 375.... Salt & pepper boneless and skinless fillets. I use a good sized piece of parchment paper and rub in about 1 tablespoon of EVOO. Add zucchini, green onion and maybe some butternut squash. Seal tightly in the paper and bake for about 25-30 minutes. Delicious!
My family just saw you on 59 there going into Foley (Blue Tesla). Everyone loves your channel. We're still trying to figure out the fishing down here. All of our gear is for rivers, lakes, and sound waters for Washington State. Your content is helping us adjust to these waters!
Man that is awesome! It can be a little tough at first but once you start to figure a little bit out it’ll come to you. Thanks for waving when y’all passed by, made my day!!
@@southernsalt Hey Salt, how did you fake shots of sheeps with vudu shrimps in their mouths? It was very real - looking, but also faker than a made in china rolex. Sheepshead never bite lures; they won't even hit gulp shrimps.
Great video brother as always! The Vudu shrimp has bailed me out of many tough days for sure! My favorite way to cook sheepshead is hit the fillets with a little of my favorite blackening seasoning(Paul Prudhomme’s Redfish Magic) and sear them on my Blackstone and serve over a bed of gouda cheese grits… Thank you for all that you do for the sport we love Nate! Let’s go Tuesday!!!
I like to leave the fillets on a half shell and bake them in butter with redfish magic seasoning. Simple, delicious and juicyyyy! I find frying sheeps head makes them too dry so i tend to cook sheeps head in the oven. Specially small fillets. Awesome video brother.
I've cooked sheepshead A lot of ways. But I like it best in ceviche. Make sure to remove any bloodlines. It holds together nicely and is every bit as good as snapper. Also for those who haven't tried it, It cooks pretty well on the half shell.
60 years ago when I was 16 I lived in GulfBreeze and I would sight fish for big sheeps on the old bridge pier on the GulfBreeze side with a 20’ trident head wooden spear and handline . I miss those days with my friends fishing and hanging out at the beach girl watching.
Yeah GulfBreeze was almost a desert with almost nothing except for one grocery store one elementary school and one police man Marshal Forsight, but the fishing and crabbing was really great in the bay. I lived on Fairpoint Dr and would ride my bike to the old bridge, not there anymore, or thumb to the beach, a quarter for the toll 😂. I played football, basketball and baseball at PHS, go Tigers, Coaches Haynes& Simmons, Marvin Beck and Fred Waters. Myrtle Beach SC does not have fish varieties that you enjoy nor the open beaches to chase the birds and fish in the surf. Keep the great videos coming👍😂
And great video, and I was taught by old timers the 3 count before setting the hook on sheepshead, lol. I found when using artificials versus live crabs, I had to scrap some barnacles or throw out some crushed oyster shells, then they hit also any small artificial lure.
Would love to see some Gulp swimming mullet in chartreuse on a dropper rig for flounder. Used to nail halibut with that setup. Wonder if flounder like it too 🤔
Favorite way to cook/eat sheepshead.... That's a hard question to answer... Sheepshead is one of my favorite to eat and pretty much the only fish I stockthe freezer with lol. Any way it's made in my opinion is good. Grilled, blackened, fried etc. Some days I'll cook it all three ways in one meal 😂
@Southern Salt interesting. Thanks. I've been getting skunked across the bay. Watching your videos in dog river wearing out the specs makes me wanna make the drive over there!
Great video, you said the water was about 5 feet is that at low Tide do you feel like the fishing is better when the tide is coming in or going out when fishing these bridges
Based on all the issues you experienced with the 360 kayak are you going to stick with it or move into something else? Curious on your opinion, you have alot of hours and repairs done to kayak
@@southernsalt I hear you, there is just something about the PA feels like a cockpit everything just seems setup right. Have you tested a pa12 before? I currently have a older pa14 and in wondering if the 2inches in width makes a big difference I like to stand a lot.

Hey Salt what is the cost for fiddler crabs at the bait shop? How do they sell them by the dozen? This will be my first year fishing for sheepshead and I was just wondering. Thanks. I love your videos.
I like sheepshead poor mans lobster style. Chopped in chunks and poached in boiling water then dipped in lemon butter. Add some old Bay to the lemon butter is even better. Give it a shot and let me know what you think. Don’t think I have ever seen a catch and cook like that so video idea maybe?
I have to ask. But i see you’re using braid in this video along with fluorocarbon leader. Do you get less line breaks when you use the braid and flouro combo compared to mono? I would think you do get less line breaks. Especially compared to 15 lb mono. And if so, why don’t you just use braid from now on along with flouro?
3 videos in a row and u didn't do a catch clean and cook that's unlike you but we the viewers like to see y'all bring them home because i know you're keeping a lot of them, so why not show you cleaning and cooking them up in some good recipes thank you

Sheephead Ceviche! For the win!
Never tried it that way, I’ll do it!
Can’t beat cooking on the BBQ grill. Seasoned just right and I use a clam shell wire basket.
Coat in olive oil, salt and pepper, cook on the grill- AMAZING!
🙌 🙌
I use the Vudu shrimp on a popping cork for redfish and trout up in the marsh off of the inlet Chesapeake Bay Virginia Beach
Nice!!

I’ve never done ceviche with sheepshead but I’m definitely going to try it, thanks!!
Blackened Sheepshead tacos are amazing!

Love those 2” vudu under a popping cork they just catch everything.

I love the vudu shrimp it’s really good on speckled, trout, redfish, and black drum I even got a huge Spanish mac on one
Very nice!
Yo Zoro on the water from south new jersey great video my dream fish to catch

Love some fish tacos with just about any fish. Blackened with some Asian style slaw with some spicy sauce 👌
🙌 🙌
Where did you get that crab bucket? 😁
CCA
Nate next time you go spec fishing I got a video request. Use a popping cork with a Vudu shrimp and also try the Hoodwink to see the results.
I’ll definitely have to do that soon
You should see if you can catch the sheepshead on the bugs fishing lures like the Ned shrimp or some of the other ones
🙌 🙌
This year flounders are hitting like linebackers
Ive seen you catch sheepshead on about everything that people say will not work...LOL
Can't wait to make it down there at some point
I think people try to compare things to crabs and there’s really no comparison but definitely severs alternatives that still work very well!
@@southernsalt barnacles free lined will put crabs to shame
On the way to 40k! Exciting, my man! 👍

Gut em, descale em, de-head, de-tail, and pop em in the oven. Best fish on the bone I've ever eaten.

Where did you find your jaw grip to land those fish with?
I like to pan fry them and then make a bu blanc sauce that I pour over. Top with fresh dill
Oh heck yeah! Sounds dang amazing!!
That reminds me have u did any research on the pressure of there bite I'm courious
I love sheepshead. Poor mans lobster we say around here. I cook them like deep fried Grouper nuggets. I like them better than Grouper.
Nice!!
I would like to see you use canned oysters and a mesh bag before they head off shore. Were you on anchor or staked out in this video. Thank you

can you describe the boat you are in ....thanks
I would put the Nikko shrimp on before a Vudu shrimp. They are rigged differently, though.

deep fried chunks !!!!
