Took me way too long to track down this song from the PBS documentary. The rest of the soundtrack was made by Kevin Bacon's older brother and is on his site-- with the exception of this one. Drove me crazy.

These selections Marche du Sacre by Abbe Nicolas Roze, the cantata Tu Est Petrus by Jean Francois Le Sueur and the Vivat in Aeternum of Roze were all heard on the PBS documentary Napoleon around the year 2000-2001. I have always loved the music but had no clue as to the identity of the composer(s) and always wanted to buy a soundtrack with this music. Now I don't have to. I can just listen to this video over and over! Thanks!

It was recorded in France, at Festival de la Chaise-Dieu, and the full recording was still available three years ago on their website : it's not the case anymore :/

253 Birthday of this great man! Will celebrate with a toast of 1995 Ch.La Fleur Petrus. Totally misunderstood by all those "jumped up and decadent rulers" of Europe!

In France, Napoleon is a hero whereas in Britain he is a tyrant. It all depends on who's version of history you read. So the Music of his coronation deserves to heard more often

Una vera buffonata. Un impero effimero. Un trionfo della superbia. Delirio di onnipotenza. Che cosa lo attendeva? La sconfitta e l'esilio.

Hope this music was performed by French choir, not English. If Napoleon was victorious over Czar of Russia, English, Prussians and rest of Europe probably would’ve still defeated him in the end.

This period is so sad, all the European lords and ladies had a chance to achieve a total peace and dignity for all people but only squabbled further for power and strips of land leading to all the horrors 100 years later. Marxism could have been avoided if Napoleon was a great man instead of a grandiose one.
